This camera rocks! Okay is not go pro or osmo action but for cheap cost camera it does good job. I have two of them for double angle video. It works for me. Good review too.

Thanks for your comment. Yeah, like I mentioned in the video, I’d recommend getting a micro sd card with these ratings on it: U3, A2, V30, 200MB/s (read speed), 100 MB/s or more (write speed.) Hope this helps!

Great review. We only go hiking and do occasionally biking on the coast. Do you think this is a great option for that? We aren’t super crazy with our adventures lol. 😅 Just want to make sure this will be stable enough in the video.
Hi! Thanks for your comment. So for regular hiking I think it does a good job at stabilizing the video, not the best EIS in the world but not horrible either but if you’re going to use it while jogging you can experience some slight vibrations in the video. I don’t recommend it for biking as the stabilization in the video is not smooth. If you’re looking for the best video stabilization for your adventures I’d recommend getting a GoPro 7 or 8. You probably can find one at a decent price these days.
I like the camera but I have found that the access to battery and charging port don't fare well with exposure to salt water. They are really difficult to open even though I am very diligent in washing it immediately after being on the water. I tend to have to use a screwdriver blade to help push the buttons to open the hatches. Interesting to see you screw the lens front off - didn't realise you could do that. I'd better check behind there for corrosion too. Great review - thanks
What program did you use to process the raw DNG files? Did you attempt to adjust the color balance? I assume the color tint is just from the internal infrared filter that comes in all cameras and the camera is just shooting at base levels in the raw format. The fact that it's an action camera that shoots raw files is pretty nice.
I used Photoshop. I did try to adjust the CB but it didn’t work for me. Not sure if it’s a firmware issue when it comes to the RAW files. Thanks for your comment I do appreciate it.
How is the audio quality? Does it sound normal, or does it have a chipmunk-like effect? I read about this issue in reviews of the V50x, but I haven't seen any feedback on the Brave 7.
@@emrofach it’s not bad and it’s not the worst. I did a video testing out the audio of the Brave 7 and the AKASO lav mic on the channel, I encourage you to check it out if you want to.
I'm late to the party but looks like a return to form/step in the right direction for Akaso. After a step backward from the LE and original full release 7 then the ridiculous pricing of the 8. I couldn’t say because I’ve never tested the Osmo Action 1. But if it’s priced cheaper than the Brave 7 and doesn’t have any defects or issues with it, then go for it.
I uploaded a video on the channel the other day testing out the internal mic and the external Lav mic as well. You should check it out. The sound is pretty decent and has been improved. Those videos that you’re referring to are probably testing the older firmware version. I use FCP and Adobe Premiere editing software

I don't really understand Akaso cameras. Half of the sample videos are awesome and not just for the price, and half of them are pre-smartphone era phone recording level bad. I don't dare to buy one because the samples are just that inconsistent.
You're rolling the dice as wether or not you get a good copy. I have a Brave 7 LE and it's pretty good as long as you record no more than 2.7k30 or no less than 1080p30. I have a Wolfang version of the same camera and it is absolutely horrendous. All actions suck in low light and look best in bright light.
I buy akaso brave 7 but i dont i dont know what memory i have to use i buy a 3 memory card but they are not funcktioneng im upset 2months na i did not use it can u help me
The new version comes with the new remote controller with a different LCD screen, that’s one way to find out. But you can always contact Akaso or the seller you’re buying it from and ask them if it’s the 2023 firmware version before buying it.
Now for the bad part of this camera...You forgot to mention the pixel blurring at camera edges, especially along the top. The lens fogs regularly behind the cover requiring you to unscrew, clean and put back on. In and out of water causes this everytime if there's a significant temperature difference. Going from sun behindvto infront causes it as well. You often won't notice it till you get home to find all your video is garbage. It's a real problem with all of these. I saw it start a couple times but video was cut. To get the colors you were showing requires fixing post production, the colors are rather washed out looking otherwise. The audio is terrible as well in any wind. You need to buy their external microphone for decent sound, camera is not waterproof with it plugged in. Only their mic will work with the camera. For anyone looking to use something like this on a bike, skiing etc you will be sorely dissapointed with the image stabilization. Even a brisk walk over uneven ground is shaky. Low light or use in forest where sun is coming through trees looks awful and can't be fixed post production, that goes for the shaky video as well. Its a decent camera for the price, better suited to non-action filming in bright even light. The sun in front often causes pixel blurring. Pictures are decent, not great for indoor shots. It works good for most of what was shown in this video. Look at other reviews that will give you the good and bad. The app for editing works but can be challenging. This should have been included for a real, honest review of this camera. I kept mine for use when my gopro could get trashed. Your better off with an older go pro, even the hero 8 blows this away.

I haven’t encountered these issues you mentioned yet but then again I haven’t gone skydiving or skiing with it in different temperature changes only in water. The colors look ok to me and are straight from the camera no color grading or correction. I did use the “Vivid” setting in the camera which explains the pop in colors which I didn’t mention unfortunately. But It’s definitely not a GoPro 8 competitor, that’s for sure. Hey, thanks for your comment. I personally think that this upgraded version of the Akaso Brave 7 is amazing for the cheap price. It doesn’t have 4K/60fps but it does have 2.7K/60fps which looks really nice. If you’re looking for something that’s affordable and can give you GoPro-like quality video then the Brave 7 is it. But at the end of the day, it’s up to you and what budget or preference you have in mind. In my opinion, it’s the only budget camera on the market that’s worthy to compete. Hope this helps!

@@will_0491 As far as I understand, its just a firmware upgrade and it already comes installed in the new Brave 7 units sold. Also, I don’t know if this is different for those in other countries outside of the US. I was also told that the if one has an older version and needs to upgrade the firmware, they would need to contact Akaso for them to provide you the correct firmware because there’s different firmware for different camera models, so you want to make sure you’re getting the right version. Someone mentioned in the comments that you can upgrade directly in the Akaso app but I was told that this is not recommended to do.
My problem wirh this camera is the field of view at 170. It’s smaller than previous models and it’s even smaller if you turn on stabilization. I would avoid it unless you are just using to vlog. Disappointing
Digital zoom, pain in the arse, have to wait for it to finish deciding what zoom you wanted before you can then take the shot, also doesn’t zoom in when in the process of shooting a video. Waterproof case has to be purchased separately for around £20 and fogs up easily. Underwater, having given up on the fog problem and so using it out of the case, you then have to constantly surface to return to the shooting screen as it likes to go into all kinds of menus, killing any shot you may be about to take. The onboard microphone is rubbish whilst the external is not much better, probably why you didn’t cover them. The IP rating is only for freshwater but as I was on holiday I reached the point of frustration with the fogging where I didn’t care if I killed it, I just wanted pictures. It still works.
Hi, thanks for your comment. Do you have the newest 2023 version? I agree, the digital zoom is not all that and is kind of gimmicky. I haven’t experienced the fogging issue yet but then again I haven’t done much water activities lately since. The onboard mic sounds much better now in this new firmware version. I covered it in another video maybe you’d want to give it a watch. The external mic is eh... not to my liking. The IP rating is ok. It’s been taken down into salt water “bare” several times up to 1m and it was fine, anything deeper than that you’ll definitely need to have it inside of the waterproof case-and I agree, having to pay extra for the case is annoying. It should already come with the basic kit. I personally like this camera a lot but that’s just me, others do have their opinions on it and I totally respect it. Maybe they’ll make up for these issues in the Brave 8? 🤷🏻♂️

Also found in bright conditions it’s hard to see the screen and if your underwater the press to shoot is an option to select as it turns the touchscreen off which is really handed. Also found the voice activation doesn’t work that well underwater……..😉🤣 all in, it’s good, would be interesting to see if they have any plans for the twist off lens protector. I may have a go at a 3D sunshade or an actual camera polarising lens holder at some point, see if there’s any benefit.

It really is Matt. I thought it was going to be a disappointment but I was surprised at how good the quality of the video and 20MP Jpeg pictures came out. It’s definitely worth the price.
The worst? Are you sure about that? There are several budget action cams that are really bad quality. I think this one is great but everyone has a right to their own opinion.👍🏻

For its price, it's good enough. The stabilization seems a lot smoother than the previous versions and audio sound more decent.

Digital zoom, pain in the arse, have to wait for it to finish deciding what zoom you wanted before you can then take the shot, also doesn’t zoom in when in the process of shooting a video. Waterproof case has to be purchased separately for around £20 and fogs up easily. Underwater, having given up on the fog problem and so using it out of the case, you then have to constantly surface to return to the shooting screen as it likes to go into all kinds of menus, killing any shot you may be about to take. The onboard microphone is rubbish whilst the external is not much better, probably why you didn’t cover them. The IP rating is only for freshwater but as I was on holiday I reached the point of frustration with the fogging where I didn’t care if I killed it, I just wanted pictures. It still works.
Hi, thanks for your comment. Do you have the newest 2023 version? I agree, the digital zoom is not all that and is kind of gimmicky. I haven’t experienced the fogging issue yet but then again I haven’t done much water activities lately since. The onboard mic sounds much better now in this new firmware version. I covered it in another video maybe you’d want to give it a watch. The external mic is eh... not to my liking. The IP rating is ok. It’s been taken down into salt water “bare” several times up to 1m and it was fine, anything deeper than that you’ll definitely need to have it inside of the waterproof case-and I agree, having to pay extra for the case is annoying. It should already come with the basic kit. I personally like this camera a lot but that’s just me, others do have their opinions on it and I totally respect it. Maybe they’ll make up for these issues in the Brave 8? 🤷🏻♂️

Also found in bright conditions it’s hard to see the screen and if your underwater the press to shoot is an option to select as it turns the touchscreen off which is really handed. Also found the voice activation doesn’t work that well underwater……..😉🤣 all in, it’s good, would be interesting to see if they have any plans for the twist off lens protector. I may have a go at a 3D sunshade or an actual camera polarising lens holder at some point, see if there’s any benefit.
@@ellelephant voice activation underwater? 🤣😂 that would definitely be something innovative. I agree, Akaso should make ND Filters for it. I was thinking of making my own from a bigger camera ND Filter

It really is Matt. I thought it was going to be a disappointment but I was surprised at how good the quality of the video and 20MP Jpeg pictures came out. It’s definitely worth the price.
