What I enjoy about this version is that there is a deep appreciation and love in what he is saying, it really sends home how there is no malice in what he doing he just sees it as the inevitable, just the truth of the world.
While I prefer the OG, the remake is really good, especially the dialogue. The voice shows that there’s a part of Ryoji who is still there and didn’t want this to happen, but he is demanded to carry out the Fall. Like what Métis said, Nyx is not a malevolent being. She was called because people wanted death.
Honestly as much as the old Nyx voice was cool, the new one recognisably sounding like Ryoji makes the fight even more tragic and personal than before.
Not a fan of them trying to make Nyx avatar more sympathetic or emotional since it’s literally just death they can’t do anything about it might as well play along with it and make it seem as menacing as possible.
@@rushisbased4581dude have you played the game? Ryoji eventually becomes the Nyx Avatar and never once does he lose his sympathy for the humans who's lives he's forced to bring to an end, even in the OG he was supportive and sounded like he was gonna cry when he apologised to them all, having the little extra bits is a nice touch!
"The moment man devoured the fruit of knowledge, he sealed his fate. Entrusting his future to the cards, man clings to a dim hope. Yet the arcana is the means by which all is revealed. Beyond the journey you have taken lies the absolute end. It matters not who you are. One thing is certain. Death awaits all." As excellent as the original.
Well I think it has to do with some dialogues in the Game. Some members says that Makoto is practically "unkillable". So this sentence makes scenes cause Makoto is quite unkillable throughout the game, + the Messiah persona of Makoto. But I agree Nyx doesn't talk directly to Makoto, but it as much more deeper meaning than the original.
While it makes sense to have him sound more humanlike (ryoji), what I like about the original is that cruel, unnerving and somewhat monsterous depiction death. It makes the fight more intimidating as the MC must overcome his fear and find peace. "It matters not who are... Death awaits you"
And that's what makes the original not so good. Cause Death isn't a monster or some cruel entity, it's neutral it doesn't care what or who you are. It's equalise everything.
I don't think it's a matter of old VA vs new VA that fundamentally changes Nyx's inflection but the lack of a filter. It's hard to tell how Yuri's version would have sounded like without the filter, while Aleks pretty much sounds wholly untouched. You can make an argument about which version is better but it doesn't have that much to do with the VAs.
Imo, this is more fitting and way better than original. It feels like Nyx truly waiting for death to come. Remember that Nyx avatar here are just harbinger of fall, not the real Nyx itself. People are just biased by nostalgia factor.
Philemon and Nyarlothothep are similar to Nyx, what I mean is that Philemon made a bet that humanity would reach enlightenment while Nyalothotep bet that humanity would destroy itself, how is this similar to Nyx? Well, Nyx wasn't a bad person, people were calling Nyx to kill/destroy us.
They all arent their own beings They are a collective wish of what humanity wants manifested into godly being that aims to complete that desire, they arent good or bad
I understand preferring the original this is definitely different but i like it honestly. I find the idea that Ryoji connection to humanity has fundamentally changed nyx in some way interesting. I mean nyx has always been encouraging in some ways with its arcana speechs so i feel it works
I'm fine with him sounding more Ryoji, it fits so much better, but I really wish they kept the exact same wording. Some rewritten lines just sound lamer, especially the last one.
@@Satzuii ...it literally was though? like you can prefer the new ones of course, but like the entire game was retranslated and localized lol fortune arcana for example fes: "along time exists fate, the bearer of cruelty..." reload: "ever-present along time is fortune, cruel and unflinching..." or death fes: "beyond the beaten path lies the absolute end. it matters not who you are... death awaits you" reload: "beyond the journey you have taken lies the absolute end. it matters not who you are... death awaits all"
Everyone here is talking about how the O.G. voice for Nyx was better, but I think this one is better. To live is to die; they are one and the same..."
@@gmaerliadgh Sorry to follow up on my comment so late, but I thought of a theory as to why ATLUS might've done that. FES Nyx feels more alien and hostile; that version wants you to feel intimidated and afraid of Nyx -- as you should be. Reload Nyx feels like they were going for a depressingly sympathetic take on Nyx; this thing was once your friend, and it still sounds like Ryoji, addresses SEES personally (especially Makoto, who can even address Nyx as Ryoji in a dialogue prompt during Phase 14), and even shows that it doesn't really want this fight to happen and still cares for SEES, shown in some of its voice lines for taking damage ("Why...?"), which is canonical according to The Answer. FES Nyx is supposed to feel alien and hostile, and Reload Nyx is supposed to feel tragic and somber.
I'd say new VA is better felt more like Ryuji was there, but i prefer the OG wording, they should've just copied the old quotes instead of altering them
I agree! The new one sounds more "human" and not "robot". When one considers Death is a friend of humanity in a way by looking at literature, media, arts, this one makes sense.
If you listen to the persona fes in Japanese, Nyx does not have the monster voice from the dub, he maintains Riojy's voice, in the remake they kept that characteristic being more attached to the original. In addition to the fact that it makes narrative sense, nyx avatar has that human characteristic thanks to the fact that he learned to be human, he still maintains something of his being inside. Fighting against nyx avatar, knowing that ryoji is inside, doing something he doesn't want, and it's inevitable, adds to what you want to beat him, you help him.
It also made no sense how Yukari spontaneously recognized Ryoji in P3F when he's a step away from sounding like a FNaF1 animatronic. In P3R he still sounds like Ryoji, just a scarier, deeper-voiced Ryoji.
Why do people keep saying this even though it's straight up wrong? Nyx's voice sounds distorted in Japanese FES. It's only in the anime where they removed the distortion.
