  • I started flying quadline kites around Feb. 2018. I just made my first set of 30' lines so I was practicing catches, throws and axles mainly. I also don't know much about recording or editing but I'm always open to constructive criticism so feel free to leave me a comment below.

    I had never before seen a person catching their own falling kite.

      Oh it's fun! We call it a "catch and throw". Fly the kite to the top and it'll stall out. Pull top two strings equally towards yourself and down. Catch it! You can then throw it and continue flying.

    Take a step forward and let the line loose if you fly an Axel 😜 Great flying

      the tutorial I used to learn this is offered through subscription on kitelife.com and is the best explanation I have seen but you do need to pay to get access to the more advanced moves. I could attempt to make a tutorial series but for now I'll share this old video by Watty which shows his hands working. th-cam.com/video/F5Lt732C9XI/w-d-xo.html

      I'm not sure if your asking about the axle trick or the traveling spin move (traveling bicycle).

    Hello.
    How many feet of LINE are you using?
    I want to be as good as you.

      In this video and most of the others, I fly on 30ft. lines. However if you are just learning, it is generally recommended to start out with a longer set (90-120ft) until you have gotten a good feeling for the basic controls. This is because you end up with less reaction time on short lines. For videos, 30ft. just makes the kite look bigger and better than it would on 120ft lines and it allows me to do the "catch and throw" trick which is fun.

    Hello.
    I bought a 30ft line, but I'm not used to it yet, so I'm practicing on a 90ft line.
    Is Crystal Wilder's Rev an RX?

      Hi! The kite in this video is an UL RevPolo and is not made by Revolution Kites. The only Revolution made kite I own is an EXP that I gave to my daughter. Otherwise I own/fly Djinns. This one is mostly retired now. It's so old.

    How would you describe the flying characteristics between this kite and your Djinn kites? The Djinn kites seems so flexible compared to this kite.

    • @crystalwilder
      @crystalwilder  ปีที่แล้ว

      My Polo is an UL but I do not have the UL Djinn yet so I'm afraid my comparison the two brands wouldn't be fair since they are for different wind conditions. I will say, since buying my Djinn Std, I hardly need to fly the Polo. Polokites seem a bit more reactive to minor inputs and fly flatter than a Djinn does with a loaded sail. If you have ever flown a Revolution kite, a Polo has pretty similar flight characteristics. The flex and shape of the Djinn are what make it different than other quads. Sail loading was a big factor in the Djinn's design process so it does feel different. Smoother and more connected to the kite. I prefer the Djinns for this reason but I'm totally bias.

      Thank you for replaying!
      I have a Revolution exp and a kite build by a Dutch kite builder where the exp feels somewhat heavy and the other one is to nimble. I like to fly slow figures and was wondering how a Djinn would fit me. Just curious…..

    • @crystalwilder
      @crystalwilder  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FerryvanDorp It may fit you well. I have heard some people say their 1st initial thought has been the Djinns feel heavier but it really isn't. It has some tuning built into it which gives it that first initial impression if you're not used to flying with good connection on all 4 lines at all times.

    What is the length of your line, looks pretty short in order for you to toss and catch it.
