It has been a few years since I last "attended" a wedding. The last one was my wife's and me in 2009. It vividly reminds me how life is such a varied and wonderful journey. We were married during a snowstorm at Timberline Lodge (on Mount Hood) and honeymooned in Bonaire (in the eastern Caribbean) where we bicycled, windsurfed, snorkeled and scuba'd in tropical surroundings. Over the next few years, we remodeled our house into a comfortable home and had many wonderful travels around the Northwest, Europe, Palau, and more. Alas, she was diagnosed with cancer in 2014 which scaled back our travels. While we enjoyed life quite well, by 2019, the treatment options were narrower and less effective leading to a decrease in the range of adventurousness. As if covid were not despiriting enough, Katherine passed away in July 2020. At least her pain and suffering ended cleanly.
Being married to her was the best decision I ever made and provided growth, education, and true intimacy.
