Being an old geezer, who can only bend down so many times in a day, my next suggestion for the firewood project would be to cut it, and put it into a wheelbarrow instead of on the ground, then split it, and toss it into a another wheelbarrow before stacking. Less bending, and probably fewer steps. But, yanno, I'm old. ;-p
Hi, I’m really glad to see youare usung chainsaw chaps to avoid tragic mishaps. A tip for the one using the chainsaw, always support the weight of the saw either on the log or on to your knees by putting your knee under the forearm, this will enable you to work a full day with the chainsaw without sourness.
Love Okra. I freeze it after I cut it and batter it , after frozen I bag it so I can take out the amount I need to fry. Also cook it with butte beans. Goes great with Cornbread. You can tell I was raised Southern.
I love Colin and Sarah! Such a cute couple. So glad you took the suggestion to give them a channel. They might split off and have their own channel one day… doubling the income stream. ❤️❤️
I must say you produced a lovely video, I’m impressed. I think your cut/split/stack procedure is now very efficient. So many people do way too much handling. When you cut them, they land near the splitter and after they’re split, they get tossed within a few feet of the stack. Hard to improve on that! Great job all around. You each get one of these: 👍👍
Great to see the young guns hard at work . There is quite a bit of wood bedn done and its very satisfying to see a stack growing and know that ykour sorting out the house heating for the years ahead. Your dad and brother are having a great time pity there's a lot of rain but its how it is enjoyable video sara and colin keep it smiling
I like okra, especially fried okra. I heard from a friend that they eat okra right off the plant as a snack. I tried it and I am going to need more okra plants now.
Sarah, you are very comfortable in front of the camera. Experience from your channel as well as the many years with your family. Well done. Collin is a very good worker. Able to solve the chainsaw trouble and get the rounds cut for splitting. The garden is exploding! That lunch looks so yummy and simple to make.
Sarah!!!! Okra ROCKS!!!! LOL :-) I like it especially fried, but can be used in so many things too, like soup, stews, etc. Oh and Julie, you are fired for being a no call no show - LOL
The family homestead really captures Americana... the way we started out. We lived off the land and made due with what our land could provide. Essential for this model to work is how well the family members get along... conflict resolution, workload sharing, delegation and decision making transitions from generation to generation... Back then there were few stores ... and no convenience about them. When you went shopping, it was generally a multi-day trip (especially in northern ID)... and, really, every time you left the homestead you took your family's name... and you bore it with dignity, always aware that your actions reflected on the family. Members didn't even leave the homestead until they had learned appropriate courtesy/manners. Those who hadn't learned that yet had no business leaving the homestead. These are the things that made America what it was - but somehow we lost that intimate connection with the land... and with each other. So glad to see you guys modeling Americana for those who wish to learn.
I am like you Sarah I used to not like okra either because of the slime factor. However someone recommended I try roasting them with a little sprinkle of olive oil and salt and pepper. This way they aren’t slimy like they are if you boil them. Try that you might like them.
The only problem with putting wet wood in a shed sometimes it goes moldy that's why we used to stack it outside in single rolls to dry it first then put it in the shed and if you have raccoons that's where like to go in the winter and Poop all over your wood
Wow those young folk are hard workers and smooth talkers they should start their own channel or they will soon own yours haha. But then your channel usually does have Julies smile.
Hey Sarah& Collin I saw the photo of you two wearing the Lavender shirts and had to have one. I call a farm in Deerpark area and hit them up for some lavender lip balm and a shirt from this year's fest. Would you two speak about the farm you visited and what you did there. Even a few more pics would be good👌 Thanks!
ich liebe eure Videos, Danke dafür! aber wie Colin Auto fährt ist erschreckend. So wie er fährt hat er keine Chance zu reagieren, wenn etwas passiert. Die Hände gehören dichter ans Lenkrad!
Just a word of caution...you might need to braid your hair while processing the wood...I was afraid you were going to get it caught in the saw or splitter.
So, you two up in Alaska must sleep on the bikes? How do you do that anyway? Just seems like you never get off the bikes. Did you do anything up there, except ride around?
I love making pasta without meat don't really care for beef I did like mum's spaghetti sauce because after she cooked the beef she put it in a processor and grounded up really small but I like pasta without meat sometimes I put rabbit meat in it which is good my sister always bugs me what no Beef in your sauce you need protein I'd laugh at her and say you don't have to eat meat every day
You guys are so young. Learn to protect yourselves now. Safety glasses and ear protection. Even when splitting a log a chip can pop up and hit your eyes. My ears ring all the time because I did not know about hearing protection when I was young. Think about what you are going to do and what can happen. Safety comes first, so your life will last.
See we don't even miss Marty. Sara is rocking the video, she should have her own channel. A little too much wood for one video. I love the garden and cooking. Mix it up more, less on a segment is better.
That's why they developed natural gas as a heating technology. Cutting cords of wood every year to burn, even if you have the timber on your property...that is why we moved away from hunter/gatherer societies, to devote less time and effort to the tasks you need to do just to survive (liking gardening, raising animals for food, tending fields, etc., etc.). I get there is a mindset difference between those who prefer that lifestyle vs those who don't, but I always wonder whether your realize or think about the hours and hours you spend doing these tasks vs doing other tasks like working in a factory, corporation, etc. Putting in 8-10 hours a day doing that vs sunrise to sunset (and more) doing these activities....whatever I guess. Regarding the vibe of this video vs your parents, it definitely was different. I am sure you guys will get your own place, have your own channel and live off youtube income and royalties as you build out a farm/homestead, have kids, etc. Rely on the advert dollars that others use their hard earned money to purchase things and you will never twice think about that end of commercialism as you live off the proceeds of it to live your 'off grid' lifestyle. Yes a bit cynical.
@15:58: your husband (colin ?) does not like a cat ha..? tolong jangan lempar kucing peliharaan mu seperti itu. 16:40 see how he is grabbing this cat!!👎

That’s a helpful idea. Thanks!!
Almost an old geezer. I sit and split into our tractor bucket. Takes a bit longer but at least I’m comfy.
The older we get, the smarter we get about making adjustments to make tasks easier.
I don't think I ever had Okra.
This is a welcome relief.. not hearing Mr
Martin go “pssssshhhh” every 2mins. ❤

Sarah, you and Collin did a great job creating this video. I really enjoyed it and hope you bring us more on your future projects.
Try a cherry tomato, a couple of fresh leaves of basil, and a cube of cheese on a skewer. Delicious!
That sounds really good!
Deep fried pickled orka
You an your husband doing awesome job with the video God bless you guys.
Thank you !
@@sarah_henley you did awesome job also.
On the bike tour is there any vocal communication between the bikes. If so what kind, thanks.
splitting firewood warms the heart thrice - cutting, stacking, burning :)
Sarah!!!! Okra ROCKS!!!! LOL :-) I like it especially fried, but can be used in so many things too, like soup, stews, etc. Oh and Julie, you are fired for being a no call no show - LOL
Nice job with the wood pile. Looks like two or three cords in there. Awesome teamwork.
Tell him to get out of the middle of the road thats the worse place to be in rhe rain. Antifreeze and oil build up in the middle of lane very slick
That’s great advice!!

check that the new bar is allowing the oiler to lubricate the blade properly, that might be why its overheating.
The Woodshed Needs *to be* Filled

Keep smiling :) : TNG ! Keep it coming!
Out of curiosity do homesteaders like yourselves worry about ever running out of trees on your property to cutdown for firewood?
🇮🇩 senang lihat sarah dan colin potong kayu dan berkebun and also masak di dapur kalian good couple good luck guys tetao semangat dan tersenyum
good job to both of you!! I know how it is to have to cut fire wood.
Thank you!
Okra is great breaded and fried or as okra pickles.
Wow you did great and the little chicks are cute
Wow those young folk are hard workers and smooth talkers they should start their own channel or they will soon own yours haha. But then your channel usually does have Julies smile.
You are better than Martin at shooting content!!!
I understand the need to use electric tools but firewood? Can’t beat the gas powered chain saw for power and speed. 😊
Thumbs up 👍

You have fresh basil you could use and you are drying it ? : ( love adding fresh at the end on pasta, no cooking it.
