Raising of the Majstång (May Pole) at Midsommar - 2018

The Majstång (May Pole) is a centerpiece of the Midsommar celebrations in Sweden. At Gammelgården, we have our own May Pole that we raise every year onMidsommar!
Here at Gammelgården Museum, we seek to preserve and educate people on the rich history of the Swedish immigrants who came to Minnesota in the 1850s. The only open air museum in the state, we feature 5 historic buildings that tell the story of the oldest Swedish settlement in Minnesota.
