Another well done video. My friends and i found a sequence break for Dying Light to get early firearms shortly after the game came out. i checked around with speedrunners, and they didn't seem to care about it because it wasn't faster, but for casual it was insanely fun. You play up to the point where you gain access to the vendors for the faction that you will eventually fight with. If you are playing casually, i think you only stop there to do quests and shop maybe once or twice before you end up fighting them. There is a partially scripted fight that happens in a parking garage in their base. The first time you go there, you are only supposed to have access to melee weapons still, and the garage fight area is closed off to the player by way of some wooden doors. But those wooden doors have little decorative windows on the sides. And you can smash those windows out. And if you sprint into either one of the windows while mashing jump and grabbing the "ledge" at the top of the window frame, you will eventually just pop through the window that is meant to be too small to climb through. It's that simple really, you just mash against the door that blocks you, and you pop through it. You can run over to where the scripted fight will happen, and guns are already there! Our best guess is that the devs places guns you can pick up in the fight area in the off chance that you got bad drops from the guys you were fighting or maybe you just ran past them? Either way, the guns are there and they will respawn and scale with your level. They are insanely overpowered for the early game, which made the gam really funny to play. I never did see any speed runner use that sequence break, so i wonder if it is even well known? Also you can get an early katana by going to the end of the bridge and looting the locked cars there, but i'm sure most people know about that spot. And obviously the early guns stop being a massive advantage after you progress the story passed where that scripted fight in the garage is (which i think is the dev intended first gun the player gets).
Before watching the video I immediately thought about the Hut where the guy killed himself, was confused why it's 10 minutes but watching the video more made me realise why. Good work! Thank you for sharing this information with the community!
if you get the pistol, in the quest for the two air drops were the first one has rias's men and your told to go to the other one if you get around them and open it it has pistol ammo inside and gernades
If you back out of lock picking before the lock pick breaks the durability will reset but the lock's "sweet spot" stays the same. You can use this instead of farming picks at stuffed turtle.

I've never played dying light but these were recommended to me, and whilst I did some work I thought why not. So far all the titles are "yes, but farm the stuffed turtle!"
There's a pistol ircc near the extreme south-east of the slums. On the map of the police vans locations you showed it's easy to find. There are icons of the areas where you can gather herbs for your boosters, to the south of the big bridge, on the water you'll see the only icon for where to find algae around that area, to its left there is a leaf icon near a safehouse closest to it. Exactly below that leaf icon, there is like a little opening where the coastline makes a dent inland, in that delta, there's a bunch of small houses surrounding the water and on the houses south of it, there's one you can enter and the body of a dude that offed himself with a pistol, you can that pistol up, but it won't respawn once you do. Disclaimer, haven't played unmodded DL in years, but I'm pretty sure that the gun should be there in the vanilla game as well.
there's easy to get pistol ammo on the roof of one of the high rectangular apartment buildings in the west of the slums (it's one of the horizontal ones). it has a wet electrifiable surface and there is a board to stand on to pick the (easy or medium) lock of the western door - although generators won't be running until later in the game so don't worry if you're doing it early on. in the corner of that room you'll find a few pistols which you can't pick up but can get 10-20 bullets a time from - they respawn every time you load, either by quitting to menu or by going into a quarantine zone, brecken's tower etc.
In the definitive edition you can create the improvised submachine gun and shotgun just starting the game, both are not much use without ammunition but you can pass the mission of the guy who asks you for a weapon
Infinite Lockpic Trick that you should know, if you cancel using the Lockpic, you can reset the lockpic. So slowly start from one end with a few twists, than cancel. I use this trick on my Xbox one all the time. It works for me
This is a neat little easter egg and I think there is one thing you didn't mention in the is it worth it section. It is a possible option for dealing with supply drops that Raises men beat you to. You can aim the pistol, even if empty at them and once you have their attention they will back away, you can either then loot the box that's left without a fight or you can execute one of the goons without them reacting if you want their weapons and loot.
Just in case this helps anyone - especially if you get the switch version, you can quickly craft a Ranger's bow from the start. Such an OP weapon for the early stages! Arrows can be picked up after use as well.
I usually grab the suicide gun from that cabin to get the pawnshop guy in the tower's side quest completed asap. No sense in holding on to it when I cant get ammo
I have an ammo spot that gives you unlimited pistol ammo, it's an apartment block towards one of the top corners of the map, I have used it in a while so o can't remember exactly where it is, but you go in one room, take the ammo box, walk in the next room wait a sec, and there is another ammo box ready
at the pack with rais if you search the body near the van (if not there just keep searching) he has the keys and you can open it’s back which gives like 10 diy grenades and something else i forgot
Theres also that one trick i discovered myself where you take evrything from the quartermaster and just sleep like twice and it refills and you just rinse and repeat
I find lock picking police vans easy, just have to listen to jingle of lock and the jitter if it's in a wrong spot, what I usually do is slowly check around for a loose spot and move the lock pick around even slower until I get it right I can open around 2-4 vans before losing a pick
There is easy pistol ammo on top of a building in the top left corner of the map. You just walk in a door and grab the ammo then walk out walk across the roof into another door and walk back and the ammo is back. Take about 10 seconds for 8 pistol ammo.
This game was a day one buy for me when it released. I immediately went to the police cars near the tower, lock picked them, and eventually found a pistol. Years later, on PC, I am playing with a friend. I go back to looking for a pistol since I'm starting over. He then tells me they removed pistols drops from the early game, and I was big sad
Also, using the maxed out survivor exploit from the other video, you can have a full armory before you even do the first assignment, essentially making yourself a god early game, and well equipped even for the end
Btw dont know if this is fact or not but the military rifle gained from the gasstation has the most attack power for the rifles, in every playthrough ive done nothing has out classed it
You can find a gun easy and free without fighting right when you finished the tutorial and can explare the map for the first time. nothe west of the map is a single hut near the coast where some dude comitted siucide and the gun is laying right next to him inside the hut. But nice that you drop this video 8 year after the game came out :D
I went back for another playthrough not long ago and was extremely confused to discover I'd started the game with a pistol, shotgun, a shapeshifting sword, and a ton of ammo. My confusion was then exacerbated by the fact there were dozens of virals chasing me at all times. Turned out to be some event for left 4 dead that I then turned off so that I could actually gather some supplies without being mauled every time I stopped moving.
1:34 reminds me of one of the first gun you can get in dead island I wish I knew about this early I just pick the lock on cop van good way to get ammo though.
Also there is pistol ammo in the drop that Rais's men are getting when your getting the drop of antizine if you kill them and open the drop I think there is pistol ammo inside.
Haven't watched the video yet but there's always a pistol with 1 to 3 bullets behind and to the left of Dr. Zere's trailer and in a shack with a dead body in it. Just follow the stream. Edit: You can get it the first time you even enter the open world\leave the tower.
Kicks and punches are so underated, especially if you're only on normal mode or story mode the melee weapons for beginners do less damage than kicks and punches, atleast i feel like
There is another way to get one or 2 pistols in the side quest where you have to lockpick a door at the tower when you go to the place where you kill the people with 'antizen' there's a police car on a nearby highway that you can lockpick and it always gives you atleast one gun it can also give you 2 guns if your lucky
Apparently I found a pistol for that quest in the beginning where you have to find a gun for that pawn shop guy in the tower. I didn’t even know it! It didn’t show up in my inventory. All I did was the first mission or two where you have to turn the power on and discover that safe house, then find the anti drop. I have no idea if it’s a bug or it’s not visible in your bag on purpose but I had one to give to that guy that I never picked up lol🤷🏽♀️
Straight up was pissed when Dawud was saying he needed a gun to help his family escape but he’d give me his pawn shop keys dude took the gun fucking threatened people his son went missing then his pawn shop has a statue and duct tape in in 😐
You can in the mission pact with rais, if you fidn that door by Karim that has the other person at the end of it, you can find a pistol andc2 police rifles and ammo and it'll reset everytime. You can also go down thd stairs in the door to find more guns and ammo
Will I wish I would watched the entire video before I gave the gun away. Damnit...lol. I hope it's not going to be to crazy hard to kill the guy with the rifle using a police baton. I just gave him the gun no more than 5 minutes before watching this. Lol, great video sir. You got yourself a new sub, keep up the great work.

Disclaimer, haven't played unmodded DL in years, but I'm pretty sure that the gun should be there in the vanilla game as well.
one thing that never makes any real sense is why zombies get more aggressive at night.
Fav game ever ❤ never gets old.
Great video thanks for all the info :D
I never knew that, me and my friends tired finding guns for a few hours
there's easy to get pistol ammo on the roof of one of the high rectangular apartment buildings in the west of the slums (it's one of the horizontal ones). it has a wet electrifiable surface and there is a board to stand on to pick the (easy or medium) lock of the western door - although generators won't be running until later in the game so don't worry if you're doing it early on.
in the corner of that room you'll find a few pistols which you can't pick up but can get 10-20 bullets a time from - they respawn every time you load, either by quitting to menu or by going into a quarantine zone, brecken's tower etc.
In the definitive edition you can create the improvised submachine gun and shotgun just starting the game, both are not much use without ammunition but you can pass the mission of the guy who asks you for a weapon
How I went to that location before this video and didn't see a whole Gat on the floor....bruhh
there's a pistol in a house near the expcalibur rock, you can grab it pretty much at the beginning of the game
That’s not an Easter egg, it’s a mechanic, two different things
I love this game. Theres a fair few ways to break it all the time, my personal favorite is the ability to jump through most walls. Nice video!
Just in case this helps anyone - especially if you get the switch version, you can quickly craft a Ranger's bow from the start. Such an OP weapon for the early stages! Arrows can be picked up after use as well.
Bro you don’t know how much you’ve helped me right now!. I’m currently doing the siblings quest on nightmare mode and this comment saved me 😂
@@elmaistro3566 you're welcome! Glad to have helped!
you make me wanna play again i maxed out everything in this game still waiting for dl2 tho
coming out this year
@@reddeadfan-jz7sx they say every year tho
@@firecoltdh2212 no it got delayed the actual developers confirmed
rgr ty
I find lock picking police vans easy, just have to listen to jingle of lock and the jitter if it's in a wrong spot, what I usually do is slowly check around for a loose spot and move the lock pick around even slower until I get it right
I can open around 2-4 vans before losing a pick
i found police rifle in the bridge at the first time i played this game
There is easy pistol ammo on top of a building in the top left corner of the map. You just walk in a door and grab the ammo then walk out walk across the roof into another door and walk back and the ammo is back. Take about 10 seconds for 8 pistol ammo.
there is some ammo in broken suply drop on highway near rais car
when a quarantined supermarket that is desolate and full of zombies breaks the entire game.
This game was a day one buy for me when it released. I immediately went to the police cars near the tower, lock picked them, and eventually found a pistol. Years later, on PC, I am playing with a friend. I go back to looking for a pistol since I'm starting over. He then tells me they removed pistols drops from the early game, and I was big sad
yes i look for pistol too
Can't wait for you to show us how to beat the game without neither the physical or the digital copy
This guy is 5x better at the game than me even though I’ve played it for 5x as long. Truly a madlad
I'm actually not a very good gamer, I just love making these types of videos 👍🏻
Tbh I only pick that gun just so I can finish the quest with the guy who wants to leave the tower with his son.
Also, using the maxed out survivor exploit from the other video, you can have a full armory before you even do the first assignment, essentially making yourself a god early game, and well equipped even for the end
I remember how I found a blue tier pistol in the first house I entered I was so lucky.
Man cant stop watching your videos!!!
I don't even play dying light, heck i hate horror games. But his videos came up someday ago, and i still enjoy watching it
Thanks a lot man .i finished dying light 2 a month ago but dying light 1 is some thing else
I can confirm this is true.
Haven't watched the video yet but there's always a pistol with 1 to 3 bullets behind and to the left of Dr. Zere's trailer and in a shack with a dead body in it. Just follow the stream.
Edit: You can get it the first time you even enter the open world\leave the tower.
Kicks and punches are so underated, especially if you're only on normal mode or story mode the melee weapons for beginners do less damage than kicks and punches, atleast i feel like
Very detailed video mate.👍
There is another way to get one or 2 pistols in the side quest where you have to lockpick a door at the tower when you go to the place where you kill the people with 'antizen' there's a police car on a nearby highway that you can lockpick and it always gives you atleast one gun it can also give you 2 guns if your lucky
Just started playing this game. Incredible. If you’re here because you saw it on sale, don’t wait. Just buy it. I can’t put it down.
If you spam the left stick all around the lock you can listen for the weak spot it doesn’t make a noise when you attempt to open the lock
thank you very useful, especually if you had the DLCs then you can make a silent automatic firing pistol with plenty of ammo towards the start
The pistol is the best way to kill the bandit. Me: kills him with one Molotov
Will I wish I would watched the entire video before I gave the gun away. Damnit...lol. I hope it's not going to be to crazy hard to kill the guy with the rifle using a police baton. I just gave him the gun no more than 5 minutes before watching this. Lol, great video sir. You got yourself a new sub, keep up the great work.
also you get 3 boxs of pistol ammo when you are chasing after the air drops. the one with rais men in it has those pistol ammo and some other loot.
Didn’t even know that was there and I’m like 10% into the game completed so I think I’m gonna backtrack around and go back there
I only have a few hours in DL so far -- I'm glad to hear it gets more challenging later. Kicking my way through the apocalypse is amusing at first, but gets dull fast.
Nightmare mode is very challenging, you can switch it over in the main menu advanced options at any time 👍🏻
First thing I always do in dying light is run for the korek machete then guns so I'll have a melee weapon on hand.
