I’d recommend modifying your video layout so we can see your item’s title. Titling is one of the most important aspects of listing and would aid in your teaching.
Not a bad idea at all. I'll definitely keep that in mind going forward.
Thanks!
I agree, that would make it much better!
Yes please!

Learned some new items. Never thought old fishing lures 🎣 was worth some Cha-Ching 💰
Old fishing lures can be BIG money
Ha! Just bought some mop pads after seeing this video! Slap that label on and add it to the stack of shipments going out next week.
😆 Cha-Ching! I was at an estate sale when it went off.
That football program find was amazing. Especially when you showed the date of the game!
Truly one of my favorite find of all time
Learning that the football game w Cards and Beats was in Pearl Harbor Day gave me chills! Definitely an amazing find!
RIGHT!?!? One of my all-time favorite finds. It would have ended up in a dump.
Love learning from you! I grew up in a family that did not sell anything. In fact, selling was such a huge issue that my parents lost money on so many things that people actually asked to buy from them, but they would not sell....unless it was tippy top dollar...which meant it never sold and we ended up giving away most of it, it was too much stuff. I started eBay as a way to NOT leave that to my children.
I completely understand! My son won't have any interest in our stuff. And stuff is just stuff. He's better off if we sell it and leave him with assets instead.
Some very cool sales. Neat to see how you show both sides of your sales, the fun and interesting finds, as well as a “meat and potatoes” sales that could really add to your profits. Thanks for sharing your time and experience. Peace
Boring is Great! It's amazing how much I've found in the back of closets, in the free box at the end of a sale, or in the bags of donation items I pick up from friends and family. Anything I don't list goes to one of three small thrift stores supporting local programs. Now that I have a new hip I might start dumpster diving again (okay, maybe not).
Your videos are always informative and keep me motivated. Thanks to you both!
One of my best finds of all time was dumpster diving. This would have been in the very early 90's. I was driving by this place, not looking to dumpster dive. but something caught my eye. I stopped and jumped out of the car. Mel was wondering if I had lost my mind. Into the trash bin I went. I pulled out a soldier's entire military history. All of his medals. His Purple Heart. His uniform. His paperwork. All of it.
His last name, if I am remembering correctly, was Johnson. REALLY common. Still, I grabbed a phone book and thought I would try to find him. I couldn't imagine why this stuff was in the trash. On the third phone call, I found his daughter. There were several pages of Johnsons...and I found his family on the third call.
Turns out, her dad (the man who served in WWII) was really struggling with mental health. He had just been admitted to the VA to get some help. But, during his meltdown, he threw away his entire military history into a random dumpster. Obviously, this wasn't "reselling." But I still consider it humbling that I was able to get his stuff back to an incredibly grateful daughter. Incredibly grateful.
I'm still not above jumping into a dumpster. Well, I'm a little older. I have to crawl into them these days.
We are too old for dumpster diving, anymore! Save yourself. Anyway - congrats on new hip, and I'm sure you'll have many happy years with it!
@@jennywhisconier7777I promise to limit myself to screeching to a halt to pick up items left at the curb.
@@TheChaChingKingI've had stolen items returned to me by dumpster divers. I try to do the same.
@@TheChaChingKing That is great you were able to find his daughter and give her those back.

Wow 🎉 🤩 amazing picks
Hey Scot, another great video good job. Estate sales are my favorite places to pick and one business closet out sale pick I went to about a year ago has netted me crazy money...old new stock in storage room was a home run.
How exciting is it when you get home and start listing things that you KNOW are going to start selling?
OMG - the Dec 1941, incredible --
Love your vids -- you guys are great -- your positive, enthusiastic presence is so encouraging! TY!
Thanks so much! And that program... seriously...I didn't have to pretend to be excited by that find. Not just because it's valuable. It's ridiculously cool.
Your sales are AMAZING!! And the lessons here are even better 🤗 Thank you for always showing us new items to be on the lookout for😊
I still need to get you something!
Love the info!
Great video and awesome sales !! I love my death pile ❤ finding gems for the second time sometimes is better then the first time 😁 especially when they went up in value 🤑
Thanks! I love sourcing from my own back stock!
Thanks for another great video man, keep them coming 😊
Great sales and information. Thank you!
This is one of the best videos I’ve seen in a long time!
I like online estate sales: I bid very low on what might seem like stupid stuff, and it resells!
With so much of our selling/shopping world moving online, coloring outside of the lines a little bit is a decent strategy.
Excellent video!! Keep them coming!
Love your informative videos thanks! Great sales
Great info! Volume items that require little work and steady returns - looking for one- I’ve found a 2 lots before and agree it’s the easiest best money ever!
So true!
Thank you so much. I love watching your videos and I've learned so much!!! This video was fantastic. I'm so excited to get started as a re-seller!!!!!
You can do this! Thank you for the kind words.
Thank you Scot. You have a great system that pays you well. Thank you for sharing this and inspiring us too! Russ
I ask myself with every single video I upload if there was actually anything at all of value in it. So, comments like this really lift me up. Thank you.
@@TheChaChingKing Yes, you do a good job of sharing why your tip or insight is valuable and discerning people can benefit from it. Talk about a great return on a $20 investment. Try to easily find that in the stock market.

Insightful commentary, thanks. Also, the photos in your listings are noticeably crisp & detailed.

Way to go with the great finds Christopher Columbus appreciate your videos. Hey is this an eBay thing or just an I may be an idiot thing. How is it I subscribed to your channel and others as well and I swear I go on another time then I’m not subscribed to them Hmmmmm but anyway thanks for the tips brother yes Swarovski Crystal has quite valuable pieces they are based in Rhode Island so I guess some big things do come out of our lil state by the way, who claims credit for these valuable finds you or Melody LMBO I’m with you brother I get a little competitive as well
Melody gets NO credit for the ornaments. NONE! She didn't want to go to North Carolina with me...so they are all mine!!! LOL
The unsubscribe thing is a mystery to me. It happens all the time. I was chatting with someone the other day on Instagram. I legit asked them, "Why aren't you posting TH-cam videos any more." They were...but I was unsubscribed so I wasn't seeing them. And this is someone I talk to!
@@TheChaChingKing you guys are funny a little Friendly competition is never a bad thing keeps you sharp lol yeah that is strange with the subscribe and the unsubscribed thing I thought I was cracking up at first lol maybe they want to make sure we’re really paying attention. Hey Scot, great sales, it's amazing what you find, what is your ebay store name or link, I want to order some of those mop pads but I didn't see your link
www.ebay.com/itm/231935811458
I don't normally post the direct links to my stores. I've never wanted the viewers to feel like they need to buy anything from me. My goal is to help others make money, not make money off them.
@TheChaChingKing I figure that is why it wasn't listed and I like that about you, so thank you for sending it to me
Great video. I have multiples of same items that i am scared that Ebay will ask for an INVOICE of purchase. Hard to prove a private pick or a manifest of a pallet (s) when it is a bulk buy. What do you do in these cases?
I've had it come up before. For me, it was a couple pallets of LED trailer lights. I actually bought them through Rosen Systems. So, obviously I didn't have a record trail from the manufacturer to my store. It was the company who contacted me because my price was lower than retail. The legit thought I was selling counterfeits. I told them where I got them and that they had been at a truck-center in Dallas that went out of business. they accepted the answer. If they had just turned over a counterfeit claim to eBay, I would have taken them down and not relisted them. It's really, really hard to fight if you can't show some proof of origin.
Wonderful!!!! Love your videos!!
Great sales and video. Thank you for all that you do and share.
I appreciate that. Thank you.
Absolutely wonderful. Thank you
I just listed some (4)x2sets of vintage Dow Jones’s industrial Cera glasses still in box for $200 per. Sell thru is over 100%. Should I have put on auction? I’ve got 2 watchers in the first 2hrs. We grabbed them at a higher end estate sale toward the end on a 50% off day... by the time we finished our pile they dropped the price to 75% off. Woot!
I wouldn't put those on auction. Items that make me think I should have auctioned them get offers immediately and dozens of watchers. If I can pull up sold prices and see about what they go for, I list them BIN.
Just subscribed to your channel and I am so thankful for the content that you provide. I’ll work my way through all of your videos, LORD willing.
Out of curiosity, how did you get the dust mop pads delivered and how much did it cost you?
Thank you so much for your help!
I went and picked them up with a trailer. It was only about an hour from the house.
Hello! Question, why did you accept offer so quickly on v sweatshirt? I’d be tempted to hold on for a better offer. Just wondering. I’m assuming just to move things out? Just picking your brain, not picking on you. 😂💕 Tell melody hello! 💕
It's a great question! When I get an offer, I immediately check the feedback the buyer leaves other sellers. If they always leave positive feedback and seem nice, I give them great deals.
I was thinking basically the same thing. If you think $200. is the low end, why not start at $200., let it run for a week and see if it gets 2 bidders?
Superb finds and flips Scot!
Thank you, Sonny!
I love old stuff.
Me too!
Hey Scott! I think I've watched every video you (and sometimes Melanie) have made and I've learned so much. If you don't mind, I'm just giving you a little correction. The brand Swarovski is pronounced Swore-off-ski. I figured you might want to know. Hope I didn't offend!
No offense taken! I appreciate it.
🎉great video thanks for sharing
You got that silver in duluth? I live 20 miles from there!
I did! I graduated high school in Duluth. We go to Duluth almost every year for a vacation.
Wow, I’m going to be looking for fishing lures now 😮
Good luck! I hope you find some awesome ones.
Question! Any resources for books? I won some in an estate sale and I think I have some worth a penny or two. I just don’t know who to trust for pricing and worth. Some really cool Civil War books one even owned by a civil war solider with what I believe is his handwriting! I’ve been tracking his life story. So cool! But idk where to turn for advice on this stuff. Thank you. I love all of your guidance and videos. You are helping me so much! ❤
Oh my! How unbelievably cool. I found some handwritten books from the Civil War era on Worthpoint that sold. But it really depends on what they are. Talk to katyreads on here and/or Instagram. She's terrific and might be able to help.
@@TheChaChingKing thank you so much 🙏 appreciate your time and help
Hi ,from last 2 weeks every time I open my eBay app it’s sign out I have to sing in every time every after 5 minutes any advice thank you
There must be a setting because neither my phone or computer makes me sign in, unless it suspects something.
I have had this happen! I wish I had an easy solution, but I don't. I ended up uninstalling the app and downloading a new copy of it. That fixed it for me.
Hey, I can throw a rock and hit the old Freeport, NY speedway grounds. It's a freaking BJ's now.
Oh wow! Small world for sure. Coming from there, does it surprise you that the poster sold to someone there so quickly?
Great sales!
Question!
Is it better to post 50 items a day or posting 10 items for 5 days?
Thanks you! ❤
Given those 2 examples, 10 items a day for 5 days is probably better. It shows that your account is active for several days in a row. eBay favors active stores. That said, if you were normally consistent and had one week where all of your listings went live on one day, I don't think it would make much difference.
@@TheChaChingKing best explanation ever! Thank you sooo much!
Savorsky or Svarovsky ornament?I didn’t sea the brand on the item😊I didn’t know brand Savorsky.Thx
Swarovski. :-)
I have a random question. When listing a post card, the ebay standard shipping does not show up (I watched your postage video from a few months ago). I'm putting in 2 oz, and its in the postcard category. How do I get it to show up?
Did you create a shipping policy for that yet? If not, try that and see if it shows up. The only other thing that comes to mind is if the item sold for more than $20. The standard envelope isn't available over $20.
So, it is under $20. I set up a policy using your ground advantage video as a guide. I set up a policy for the standard envelope. When I try and relist the postcard, the standard envelope option is still not showing up. Any ideas?@@TheChaChingKing
It is under $20. So I did create a shipping policy using your ground advantage video as a guide. After I created the standard envelope policy, I went back to the postcard listing , relisted it, but the standard envelope option still isn't showing up. any ideas?@@TheChaChingKing
Did you try the eBay button above the shipping options?
Do you sell most of your items through actions?
No, I do most of mine through Buy-it-now with Best Offer turned on.
Referring to my previous question, The postcard is under $20. I went ahead and did set up a shipping policy per your ground advantage video. So, after I set up the standard envelope policy, I went back and relisted the postcard, but the standard envelope option still does not show up. Any ideas?
Go to shipping options then click the eBay button above it. Should show up
Thanks for replying, but which screen is the shipping options on? @@dennisferguson9129
I think he is referring to when you are listing the item. It should also be available when you revise the listing. When you revise the listing, you should see a place to select your shipping options. If you've already created the Standard Envelope Policy, it should be there. You can select it when you create the listing.
Thanks!
That was so generous and kind! Thank you so much.
Do I hvae to undercut the prices to compete with other sellers?
A lot of the things I sell are either rare or were heading to the dump. So, no, not at all. I've never really competed in the race to the bottom.
I truly don't. If you are selling the same thing as 100 other people, it gets more competitive.
Can you tell me the name of that company where you purchased the mop heads?
ROSEN SYSTEMS. They are in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.
@@TheChaChingKing thank you!
Yup boring items are great but oh so boring.
I bought a huge lot of steering wheel covers for $2 each a wheel. Sell them for $21 shipped, I make about $10 a wheel. I wish I bought more😂, my supply is finally starting to run out.
Another deal I came across, a factory that used to sell beanie winter hats going out of business. The hats were made in China though, the guy wanted $100 a box, 100 hats in each box. They had easily over 1000 boxes in that warehouse. I still might revisit that idea.
That's a lot of hats. LOL But, long haul return if you could store them. Still...that would be a LOT
@@TheChaChingKing Yeah I move only hard goods and don’t touch clothing at all unless it falls in my lap.
Definitely a long play on the hats, but people always need a winter beanie.
Do you always charge for shipping even for very small items?
Usually. That way, I can send and accept offers or run a sale without worrying about whether or not I've covered shipping.
I'm just wondering if it's possibly better to charge a bit more for the item, and offer free postage? The word"free"is usually very persuasive!@@TheChaChingKing
What strategies or overall thought process do you use when trying to determine the price of "one of a kind items" if there are none listed on eBay?
I sell lots of one-of-a-kind items. I start by making sure it's as rare as I believe it to be. Assuming that it is rare, I start by looking for items that are in the same category, even if they are not identical. What have the other items related to mine sold for? I do my best to try and predict the sell through rate. Is it something that I know will sit and have to wait for the right buyer? Or, is it something I believe will have an immediate demand? Typically, I will price those items at a price I believe to be really, really high and turn on best offer. If I'm still afraid that I might be underpricing the item, I might run it on an auction with a really high starting price.
We also pay for Worthpoint so that we can look back at any potential comps.
I'm also not against postponing listing something until I can get a better feel for what it is. I have a very, very old Chinese scroll I'm still sitting on. I'm not sure if it's a hundred years old or three hundred years old. I'm not sure yet if it's for $300 or $30,000. And that's more of a range than I'm willing to gamble with. My plan is to run it over to Baylor University and get a better idea. So, waiting is always an option.
Rare, OOAK items require a bit of educated guessing. And, I believe we get better and better at that over time. I'm certainly better at it today than I was 25 years ago. So, I also rely on my gut feeling when trying to decide exactly what I want to try and do. And, in the end, I think it's important to remember that this is just stuff...and it's just money. If I miss the mark and sell something WAY too cheap, I'll be OK. I'll just start looking for the next big hit.
Oh man
Awesome video
Thanks!
I want to buy in bulk and sell on eBay. Is that possible?
If you have access to an item in bulk that people are looking for, absolutely. My mop pads have worked like that.
@@TheChaChingKing My husband passed and I have a job, but need help finding products. Mop heads sound great. Do you have a program on where to buy them on bulk purchases?
Could i pay you and your wofe to help me i lost my hob to no fault of my own and have been watching your videos for days thank you!
We don't have the time to give individual mentorships the time they require. It's a big part of the reason we created the channel.
