    The kids had no reason to believe hundreds of years would pass without them. Lucy entered Narnia three separate times in the first movie with barely any time passing between her visits. Plus in dawn treader, another year passes in the outside world and only three in Narnia, so it’s not a consistent time differential.

    • @mari-ey6xr
      @mari-ey6xr ปีที่แล้ว +82

      true, and in the books they straight up acknowledge there’s really no consistency at all- it was almost like narnia operates on a totally different time system

    • @jpblack2148
      @jpblack2148 ปีที่แล้ว +40

      I think the only consistency you could draw from it is that the children are called to Narnia at specific times where the need for them is greatest. That way the number of years that passes by becomes less crucial for the story to make sense.

    The reason they had Edmund fight Trumpkin is because during their reign, Edmund fought several battles victoriously and was said to be one of the best swordsmen in Narnia.

    • @lesleybarklay798
      @lesleybarklay798 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      I thought the reason they had Edmund fight was to convince Trumpkin they were the Kings and Queens, even though they were children. Because Peter was older, and perhaps a bit stronger (and taller) than Trumpkin, it might have been seen as an unfair fight, but if Edmund won, if would be better proof that they were who they said they were. They also had an archery competition with Susan, and I think Lucy healed Trumpkin with her cordial after Edmund cut him in the fight.

    It gets a bit confusing because Narnia is used both for the world and the small country called Narnia that is part of that world. Talking animals exist only the the country of Narnia. The are plenty of non-talking horses in the other lands outside of Narnia, so the Telmarines, who were transported from Earth to the lend of Telmar west of Narnia, where they lived for centuries before conquering Narnia, wouldn't have needed to bring horses from Earth.

    trebuchets use the mechanical force of a lever, generating the force to fling projectiles through a counterweight. catapults apply force through the tension of a rope like how a slingshot works. the main advantage that trebuchets have over catapults is that they can handle a higher max weight.

    Some seventy years after Caspian became king, a certain Narnian explained to someone less familiar with Narnian ways, who was wondering why two Centaurs were taking a very long time to finish breakfast: "A Centaur has a man-stomach and a horse-stomach. And of course both want breakfast. So first of all he has porridge and pavenders and kidneys and bacon and omlette and cold ham and toast and marmalade and coffee and beer. And after that he tends to the horse part of himself by grazing for an hour or so and finishing up with a hot mash, some oats, and a bag of sugar. That's why it's such a serious thing to ask a Centaur to stay for the weeekend. A very serious thing indeed."

One difference is that Trebuchets are a lot bigger than Catapults. Catapults are also able to be moved on wheels, normally pulled by oxen or horses and Trebuchets don't move at all. Those are two of the bigger differences between them. This movie is STILL my all-time favorite in the Chronicles of Narnia movie trilogy. So, I'm SUPER happy you both watched it and liked it too!!!!

      @JBWinter Oh thank Aslan! Seriously though, that's good to hear. The movie leaving this explanation out honestly makes the Pevensie children seem like psychopaths haha. Thankyou 🩷

    Not sure if you have Read All the books or not but in the Magicians Nephew when Narnia is formed and all the animals are called into existence Aslan picks and chooses certain animals from each bread, these animals stay and become the inelegant animals of Narnia, but the others where not. So there where already stupid animals of each kind in Narnia when other found there ways into the land

    Lewis based the Telmarines off Arabs
    Whereas in the film they are based off the Spanish from the Spanish Golden age

    • @JBWinter
      @JBWinter ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Calormenes are Arabic; IIRC the Telmarines were descended from pirates and the native women of whatever island the pirates got stuck on

    • @mckenzie.latham91
      @mckenzie.latham91 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JBWinter Um no, the Telmarines in universe are descended from pirates who made it into Narnia through a portal
      But in reality they are based on the Muslim Sultanate, and especially based on their war like nature and culture and etc which Lewis Ironically states is massive (Just jealous the Muslims did it better than the Christians)

    • @JBWinter
      @JBWinter ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mckenzie.latham91 I think you're confusing Telmarines with Calormenes, The humans of Calormen, south of Narnia. The Calormenes are obviously Islamic to the point of it being a racist caricature (including misused real-world Arabic titles) and are the main antagonists of "The Horse and His Boy" and "The Last Battle"
