I think it would be best if you get another budgie as they get along well in groups. There is also no chance of pillow being afraid of the new bird due to size because both birds will be the same size.
I would recommend a cockatiel as I have a cockatiel named Rudy and 2 budgies called Percy and Duncan they share a cage and get along very well together. I feel like you should probably either get another budgie or a cockatiel as they’re both very social friendly birds who would bond well. :)
Ik its to late but ANY bird u get from a breeder/ pet shop GET. IT. YOUNG! My cockatiel was a month old when we got him and he was bonded with me by the 2nd day.
I've never seen your channel before but I hope you get a cockatiel because they are so much fun and mix well with budgies. After other budgerigars, cockatiels and then, lovebirds are probably the best match for a budgie
I started out with one budgie over a year ago. I trained him to talk and that he does....a lot! Haha! But I felt something was missing. So I got another budgies a few months ago. The two boys are great friend. They are fully flighted and love playing together inside & outside of their home. However, I always admired cockatiels! So about 5 weeks ago we welcomed a male cockatiel into our flock. He is super sweet and definitely loves people. All 3 have just stated to become acquainted...It’s going really well so far. Currently the budgies totally hang together. But one of them is starting to engage the big boy. I do see a great connection among them all in the near future! In the end I’d recommend either species. Both solid choices. But if you opt for the cockatiel, I’d plan on a second cage. I understand that sometimes budgies can get on their nerves living together. Best of luck with everything 🐤💜😉
look into a lovebird as a companion. they're ever so slightly larger than budgies (in between a budgie and cockateil size) a lot of budgies and lovebirds can be housed together however, I'm not an expert, so make sure that if you were to look into it that you know how much space they need to be housed together
No no no no no!!! Lovebirds are NOT to be around your pet budgies! The two birds have been known to get very territorial and dangerous near each other! They have been known to bite and argue, even chewing wings or toes off of each other!

Its up to you. If you want a bird that pillow will be more likely to get along with, then get a budgie. If you get a budgie them you can keep it in a divided cage till they get along. If you get a different bird, then you should buy another cage. They also might not get along, especially if one is bigger.

I recommend another budgie. I have 9 budgies and they stay together as a flock. It's beautiful to see them preen each other and okay together. If Pillow is a male, get another male, females are difficult. I also have a Lorikeet and he is aggressive. If you want a different species then a Cocktail is nice as long as you have separate cages as you have but they can come out together. My budgies bother my tiels by trying to feed then and bopping their head on them, lol. I don't recommend a conure with a budgie, conures can take a budgies leg off. My previous conure broke my canaries leg. I wish I could visit that store but it's too far. I am happy that you don't clip Pillows wings, see how happy he is flying around? Now imagine two of them flying and chasing each other, lol
Actually ANY bird can be compatible to a budgie it's just that most birds aren't reccomend. A usually aggressive bird such as a Quaker parrot could totally be friends with a budgie. Same with a macaw or lorikeet, if they are introduced to the budgie at a young age or they have a very friendly personality they can totally be best friends. Don't assume all birds are mean and aggressive if they are young and have a very friendly they could be best friends with a budgie
That's actually true - but the odds of a lovebird or a quaker being friends with a budgie are VERY slim - like 0.01% - everything ultimately boils down to the temperament of the bird tbh
@@charlottegoodwill3133 I was just using them as examples and I said like 2-3 times it depends on age and personality of the bird wether they can be friends or not
I’d recommend getting another budgie/parakeet! instead of paying money for 2 cages and toys just get a larger one for both of the budgies, usually budgies do well in groups so that’s what I think.
Please get an other budgie, since Pillow doesn't live in a aviary, he might get lonely, and he will feel kinda left out, if you buy an other kind of bird;) I'm so excited for you guys! Also, if you get an other budgie, you can just put the other budgie in the same cage as Pillow! (only separate them if there is blood, but they prob won't fight!)
Just a couple of things. One even if you get another bird they might not bond with each other as theres always the small chance that one or both birds might not like the other. Two if you get another budgie you might want to get it DNA tested for gender as if you get a female budgie there is the possibility of baby budgies. Also while id say get a budgie companion for Pillow, Cockatiels and budgies can get along. And when you do introduce them to each other it best to have a second cage where you can have it besides Pillows cage, so the two birds can see each other and get used to each other as it can take a week or three to se how they do with each other.
Kevin and Krista Extras ok thanks! I actually found a store similar to this just 19 minutes from my house. I think I’ll try and stop by there later today :)
I would say a bigger cage for pillow, but you guys let him fly all over the place and have the choice to go in and out and it looks like 2 playgrounds? that's great! but also, I do suggest mabye getting another budgie?
Hi k&k i think you need an other parakeet i buy my parakeets last Saturday feb 9 and they are so funny together and im excited to see the new pillows friend 🤪
Its great that you decided to get a new bird now bc if u got one earlier - Pillow wouldn't be as bonded as he is now C: Great Bird ownership on ur guys part.
The pet shops where you guys live are so good because the birds over there are out of cages. I went to a pet shop that had macaws and everything it seemed nice but the birds had cages that were so small and dirty! 😪
I noticed your plastic ball toy! (the red, yellow, blue, and green ball toy.) My budgie loves it when I stick treats (millet) in there because he has to try and forage to get it. I also make it harder by sliding paper inside. This is just an observation but it might be nice for your budgie too!
I would stick to another budgie. It’s on the safe route. Someone suggested a cockatiel, or a conure, which are good birds, but I wouldn’t suggest that. Especially if you’re keeping them together. I’ve heard things where a cockatiel bit the budgie’s beak off. And I’m not really sure about a conure, but I’ve heard bad stories of conure attacking the other bird. I have a sun conure, and she gets very protective of me, and she’s very loud! But, whatever decision you guys make, you’ll probably be great owners.
Cockatiels are fine - Very gentle and despite the size difference, the budgies are more likely to bully the cockatiel (as mine did at the very start - but now they are best buddies).
Definitely a HUGE no. My poor baby budgies leg was seriously wounded when my lovebird pulled his leg through the cage bars - lovebirds are notorious for pulling and biting legs - It actually just happened again when my cockatiel perched on the top of their cage and the lovebirds went deliberately out of their way to bite his foot - thank god I was there and no blood was spilt.
Last year I got a budgie as a buddy for my cockatiel. For the first month things were a bit tense as the new budgie was bullying the cockie when he thought I couldn't see! How weird is that! But they soon became friends and get along really well.
Hi Can someone plssssss help me So I have 2 parakeets they eat out of my hand and our ok with me they don’t come on my finger and when they do they quickly leave my finger because they know that I’m gonna bring them out of the cage they have both been out of the cage and love being outside of their cage the first month I got them one of them came out of the cage and whenever I opened the cage he would come out but not anymore and I don’t know what to do whatever I do doesn’t work
First you need to know how social you are with the bird, if you aren't social it might cause the bird to be unfriendly, but if you are social and the bird won't come out it might be a little sick or you could slowly day by day introduce your hand to it and slowly get it to follow you out the cage.
Just make sure you’re gentle and calm. Maybe give them more time and offer for them to leave the cage, if not give them more time on your finger. They can be scared and become untamed for lots of reasons do just give your babies time
I would definitely recommend getting a cockatiel. The reason I say cockatiel and not budgie is because I have approx. 5 years of experience of owning both cockatiel and budgies and have found that MALE budgies (that pillow is) and either female or male cockatiels get along AMAZING. Both my current cockatiel (male) and budgie (male) get along so well, take care of each other, don't get into fights. The only thing you should be aware of is that you need 2 separate bowls (just in case of fights, better to be safe than sorry) and the jealousy factor that you will most likely receive from any bird you get however it all depends on ur birds temperament, my cockatiel wasn't jealous when I got my budgie however my previous budgie (female) got jealous of the cockatiel. Males are known to be calmer and less aggressive compared to females (for budgies). And hey, they love scritches... what more could you ask for? Edit: Forgot to add that they are both from Australia so are more likely to be happier and you can keep them in the same cage as mine are C:
Charlotte Goodwill the video started as soon as they both started beaking, parakeets do this amongst their own kind as-well. I have read in forums that they are often compatible. forums.avianavenue.com/index.php?threads/good-companion-birds-for-rosy-bourkes.156565/
@@kenjiro2676 Bourkes are more gentle in nature - more aggressive than the cockatiel - but it is actually more likely to harm Pillow simply because of its aggressive nature. I would suggest Kevin and Krista to go with either another budgie or a cockatiel. They both fit each other great and in the wild they do sometimes form flocks to travel together, bourkes parakeets are not associated with other birds in the wild. I have owned many birds as well as foster birds and can tell you from experience that parakeets will 'beak' with each other (as well as with cockatiels) rarely and it only lasts a short duration. If you watch the video - the bourkes is on the guard the entire time. Unless they want to get separate cages (because they cannot live in one) - the bourkes is not the greatest option.
You would get another cockatiel because budgies and cockatiels can live together fine I have two budgies and a cockatiel and they get along great I also have a macaw
Personally I suggest a young cockatiel because they’re usually friendly. I’ve housed two budgies and a cockatiel together before and they get along nicely. Another option is a second budgie.
I would also like to say that quarantining a bird is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard of. It really doesn't do much or even prevent any parasites the bird might have because they will eventually be put together which won't change the fact the bird is going to pass it onto your parakeet. I would instead recommend taking the new bird to a vet to see if he has any infections, diseases etc. so you can rule those out immediately and then promptly introduce Pillow to his new friend.
I REALLY want to get a lovebird! I’ve got two budgies already but I am just so interested in getting a lovebird! It just makes me so sad because my parents will never let me
@@charlottegoodwill3133 I have heard mixed opinions about that. I do have a seperate cage for the lovebird but if they did get along would I be able to keep them together?
@@midnightskittles8032 I can tell you right now from personal experience - No matter how nice your lovebird is with you - they will still attack your budgie. I can grab my lovebird and she still won't bite so I allowed my budgie to mingle with him for a bit. Boy was that a mistake - she bit his leg and he lost SOO much blood. Took him to the vet immediately after applying some aloe vera gel and the vet said that he would have been a goner if it wasn't for the gel or if I didn't see him when I did. I would recommend not putting them together. Budgies and Cockatiels on the other hand - get along great even if the cockatiel is bigger than lovebirds. Lovebirds are naturally aggressive so it wasn't my lovebirds fault - she was just doing what she would normally do. Hope this helped :)
Thank you for your reply! Would you say supervised out of cage time together would be ok for a lovebird and budgies? I looked at cockatiels too but I am worried about the dust because I have asthma, even though I haven't had symptoms for a long time. Maybe it went away? Either way I probably won't be getting my next bird for a few years because my parents won't let me get one.
@@midnightskittles8032 Supervised cage time outside is something I would recommend! Its great for your birds to interact with each other outside - and its fine as long as your keeping an eye on them. TBH I still don't understand the cockatiel dust thing - it may just because of the humidity of where I live but my cockatiel isn't really as dusty as I expected but if you prefer lovebirds, I say go with whatever breed you love! I mean if you prefer lovebirds and get a cockatiel, you won't be as happy! I would recommend getting a young lovebird no matter what (even if u have to wait extra time). I got mine when they were babies and as stated earlier - they don't bite even when I grab them. Lemme know if u need anything else C:

You are the best
All of the birds in the shop hardly bite in Singapore they bite not all
You would get another cockatiel because budgies and cockatiels can live together fine
I have two budgies and a cockatiel and they get along great I also have a macaw
Just curious - what is a battery? - Nvr mind I realized you meant budgie XD
I meant budgie
I like dis video forever oll
Personally I suggest a young cockatiel because they’re usually friendly. I’ve housed two budgies and a cockatiel together before and they get along nicely. Another option is a second budgie.
I would get another budgie. Only a budgie can understand and play with other budgies
No... any other bird that is social or friendly enough can get to know and love another budgie.
CANT WAIT TO SEE the suspense is crazy.
A paral is a cockatiel and and cockatiel are very good with bugies
Try to recall train pillow
I think pillow should get a new friend
What about. A quaker. Parrot
You should get a budgie because if you get a bigger bird, they might fight.
I am wait for next video
I would also like to say that quarantining a bird is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard of. It really doesn't do much or even prevent any parasites the bird might have because they will eventually be put together which won't change the fact the bird is going to pass it onto your parakeet. I would instead recommend taking the new bird to a vet to see if he has any infections, diseases etc. so you can rule those out immediately and then promptly introduce Pillow to his new friend.
At least thats what I have done and still have 9 healthy birds since 2014
nice
I REALLY want to get a lovebird! I’ve got two budgies already but I am just so interested in getting a lovebird! It just makes me so sad because my parents will never let me
Are you planning to keep the lovebird and parakeet together in one large cage?
Lemme know if u need anything else C:
whayever your choice is it willl turn out well.. later folks
Budgies are the best birds for family's. Can pillow talk?🐦
