@@vondacarmack9853 it would act like one in a small way but the true deflector allows some strait up ventilation for smoke. Note they have improved the deflector legs they are longer.
How well does the griddle work as a heat deflector, e.g. if you leave it on when not cooking, does it offer any of the benefit of the dedicated heat deflector?
@@ReviewThisThing You can pretty much guarantee that's it's made in china, and it's all so expensive. I don't appreciate the ridiculous pricing on these units. The new ones I've seen are thinner stainless than the one I got two years ago. Was just touching and feeling one in LL Bean store today. Figures though, some bean counter clown figures we won't notice. I love the stove, but wow, just stupid prices for stamped out super thin stainless. I made a much bigger one out of 55 and 30 gallon drums in 2010.

The new Heat deflector fits on that hub also
I need to try one of those!
Can you use the griddle as a heat deflector ?
@@vondacarmack9853 it would act like one in a small way but the true deflector allows some strait up ventilation for smoke. Note they have improved the deflector legs they are longer.
I’ve got the wok and grill top. Use the heck out of both of them.
Awesome! What’s your favorite thing to cook?
@@ReviewThisThing burgers and steak on the grill top come out amazing. And on the wok I love making tacos and vegetables.
Sounds amazing! Thanks!
Great review. Thank you.

I would say that it doesn’t - the deflector is bigger and shaped to direct heat out. Also the griddle is meant to absorb heat.
thank you
Thank you for watching!
Does this cooktop double as a makeshift heat deflector? It’d be nice to not have to buy an additional accessory!
We haven’t necessarily used it for that, but it would be worth a shot!
Can the heat deflector be used to support the cast iron griddle, or do you have to use the actual hub piece instead?
I wouldn't use the Deflector. I don't think enough heat would get to the griddle.
Does it help reflect heat out
It may just a little, but not near as much as the heat deflector. th-cam.com/video/Nm5ORP78Rac/w-d-xo.html
Ah, the info I was looking for. Thanks! @@ReviewThisThing
@jayhache5609 you got it!
Is the cast iron American made?
I don’t know for sure, but I think it’s made in China. If I find out something different, I’ll let you know.

I haven’t seen a newer one. That’s crazy!
Where's it made?
It looks to be made in China.
@@ReviewThisThing gotta go with the Breeo... made in US.. now there's a review for ya!
@@jrees1082 hmmm. I’ve seen those. I may need to check them out.
Do you ever not give a solo stove item 5/5? They seem to charge a lot of money for some basic things.
Yep. I definitely took off on the Surround because of the price.
