Manowar is Dan's overall favorite band. He is currently working on a tribute album of Manowar songs. Can't say this is one of my most favorite songs from Dan.
I think we are all biased when it comes to Dan. He can sing without instruments and it will still be awesome ❤RSA
I've listened to the original several times- it's a cool battle song, and the vocals and instrumentals are great, but, yeah Dan's rendition is more powerful! His voice is richer, stronger and I share your bias that with Dan's beautiful vocals the instrumentals are an extra. The guitar solos are very good though. Dan Vasc always has great musicians in his videos imo! As for Dan Vasc eye candy, agree 100 %!!!❤ Thank you for your delightful reaction😊

I hear what you're saying, about not having the instruments, but that's what the song was originally, and it's what people who are familiar with the original version (including Dan, in this case) want.
The thing is, that this is a cry to a battle that very possibly might NOT be able to be won. What happens when that is the case (even today), is that someone is going to have to hype up the troops. Even in the face of possible utter defeat, which would mean death to every soldier in such a setting, more than likely, the instrumentalists are going to have to add some energy to the whole scene.
It's kind of like with the guy on the street hyping up (or trying to hype up) the crowd, in that Allie Sherlock reaction...only it's actually life or death (or would be, if it were in the original setting).
Someone in the comments mentioned not really liking this one, and it's probably because of the command, "KILL! I've heard MANY battle cries. My dad was a soldier in WW2, in the motorized and medical unit following General Patton everywhere. He told us about those kinds of battle cries, and how they actually WORK--especially when you have men who are bone weary and don't think they can even move enough to try to get AWAY, never mind jump in and try to "fight the giant," so to speak.
I'm also used to fighting the devil. In THAT case, it's much more effective to shout to the afflicted (by the devil's machinations) "LIVE! LIVE! LIVE!" It's the same impetus, from a different setting. One is totally worldly (well...not totally, but BASED on the world view), whereas the other is based on KNOWING that you KNOW, that you KNOW, that you KNOW...that Jesus IS the winner. Jesus IS the beginning. Jesus IS the middle, and Jesus IS the end. Therefore, we SHOUT THE VICTORY. We don't have to KILL the devil. He's already DEAD, and he's already DEFEATED. Jesus FINISHED that, on the cross.
Unfortunately, many people have NO clue about that, so they're still shouting, 'KILL!" at the one who's already been defeated (which just gives him more of a TEMPORARY victory. All he has is LIES, so...when fighting HIM, take the other track, and speak LIFE. He can't STAND that! 😀
Dan never disappoints how to deliver whatever genre he is singing. He sings his songs simple and pure with the same impact of videos with all the bells and whistles. I love MANOWAR. If you want to see something funny. Google manowar academy awards. Warriors of the world from avatar was up for an academy award. Reactions from the actors etc. Priceless.
It is intense and stirs you up as a battle song should. Also, don't know if you knew, but he announced on Instagram that he will be releasing a Halloween song soon.
Hmmmm .... shall we speculate what song Dan will cover for Halloween? My first thought was just in jest but ... a metal Dan version of Monster Mash ... 😮😮😮 ... I can almost hear it now! 😂
@@KerryNelsonART We don't have to speculate. He made it very well known, by the intro he switched on, in the Instagram post. If you didn't get that, you can go back and watch it again, and then look in the list of comments. Most people in that list know the song very well. I didn't before, but I had heard someone mention the band, so once I heard that intro, then I DID know. It's pretty easy. He had posted an Iron Maiden reel (as usual, him singing a cover of one of the songs from that band), the day before. I always follow those hints. When I saw the announcement on Instagram, I went directly to Iron Maiden, and listened to the intros until I heard the one he played (while winking and smiling at everyone in the very short looping video that's posted there). It took less than five minutes to get it solidified.
What I hope, is that the people who HEAR it, when Dan uploads it, are not going to take HIM apart over it, because some of them might. It might be good if a lot of people would go and read through the entire album of lyrics, or at least the lyrics for the correct song. Those lyrics are tremendously important.
Just looked up the words myself. Not what I was expecting, but Dan doesn't seem to pick the obvious or what people would expect.

Here's a thought for you, since I have heard you mention "how does Dan's cover compare to the original" on a few songs: listen to the original first and then listen to Dan's cover. This will give you an idea of how close to the original it is, what changes Dan put in, etc...
For instance, I went and listened to Manowar's version and the tempo is faster. I think Dan slowed the song down to give it more power. It definitely felt more powerful. I've also compared his covers on Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Pavarotti, etc... Personal opinion, Dan either equals or exceeds them all. This could be due to better recording equipment, or other reasons.
Dan always exceeds and improves originals when he touches them, and I don’t think Dan has better equipment in his garage than those icons of music do, he has something very few artists do, Dan was born with music in his veins, his guts, heart and soul, that’s why he tops all the others.

@@romypie3725 When I mentioned "better recording equipment", I was thinking of the improved difference in technology from back in the 70s-80s to now. I would not be surprised if the stuff Dan has in his garage outperforms the stuff groups such as Aerosmith used when they first recorded songs back in the 70s-80s. I can't remember which song it was, but I went and listened to an Aerosmith song from their earlier albums and compared it to Dan's cover because someone in the comments for that video said something along the lines of, "not at the level of Aerosmith/Steven Tyler". For my ears, Aerosmith's recording quality was vastly less than Dan's... and back then, when I was a youngin', those recordings were top of the line.
I love the way that the lighting seems to draw out the red in Dan's hair. I'm sure that it's just me but it gives me a feeling of Scottish warriors going to war to protect their land. 😁
