i was so happy to see a new video today! i usually have a really short attention span for long videos lol but i always find myself watching your videos to the end. Your farm is so cool and i just love seeing how happy your animals are and how much you care for them!
your doing an awesome job. Years ago I brought one of those tall Vego metal beds, it was going to take so much to fill it I filled bottom with cut log, then small branches , then leaves and then finally compost & soil . It's been a few years, I need to add more leaves & compost & soil. I can only make compost in one of those tumblers. I'm 73 and need to cut back on all that shoveling LOL. Your such a joy to watch as the ducks and geese march to the water. Even the turkeys listen to you. I have wild turkeys that come all the time wish they listened to me like that hahahaaa. Thanks for another great video. Hope the wife is well. Enjoy seeing her smiling face when she is there.

All the animals are beautiful. But personally my favorite is the cats. There so affectionate and cuddly. They all seem to have there own personality, and there so cute. I also like Olive, and how well she gets along with all the animals. What a kind and loving dog. I'm glade your animals are all so well loved, and taken care of. You are doing a great job, keep up the good work.
I grow garlic every year and maybe up to 400 plants. I keep enough for next year planting and for my consumption and i usually give the rest away to friends. I made about 20 raised beds out of red cedar boards. Because we get mild winters here on the west coast my garlic is usually up by Christmas and so are onions. I have one bed just in Asparagus. That will be ready in next April. I dug the entire 20 beds into a huge pile of bedding sand and laid out the beds in 4 foot rows so I can move my wheel barrow around easily. Another benefit is that slugs and snails will not go on sand for some reason.

Your commentary on the compost odor at different stages reminds me fondly (!) of the big manure spreaders we and the neighbors used to have to spread manure from the barns over the fields. Some windy days the only escape from the smell in the whole neighborhood was to stay inside with the windows closed! 😸 My favorite smell was as the fresh turned earth off all the fields in the spring right after plowing. Smells like hope and heaven combined! 😻
I have three emden geese 1 male and two females. They are VERY friendly to me. It won’t b when they are breeding but will b otherwise. My names for them are. Spenser Tracey. Katherine Hepburn and I could never decide on a good name for the other but that might be a good name for your two. Or ,, name them after another famous couple. Enjoy !
I’ve been tidying up my garden and pots already but today I will put tulip bulbs in and ready for spring before frost or snow next week which is not often snowing in England. The artic winds are blowing over soon. I love it when snow ❄️ 😁
I'm glad that at least one of the geese is letting you pet it after all your effort to make them friendly to you! It's impressive how you've progressed with utilizing all the processes on your farm to work in synergy with each other (as God intended IMHO). I don't have any gardening advice, but it appears you have a great system for composting. From watching other channels, it takes time to build a large compost pile.
My garlic went in about three weeks ago, and yes, I compost the grass cuttings mainly. I just started adding fruit and vegetable waste to the compost with all this year's plants.
I had a hard time with garlic the first few times I planted it. I'm in Northern BC - Prince George and we get up to 4' of snow, or more, It was rotting in the spring becouse the ground would be wet for a long time, from the snow melt, It would also freeze at night, some times into June. BUT I started planting it in a rased bed with good drainage and now I get garlic ;) In town there isn't as much snow but every direction you go out of town is up hill so. In town they call it 'the bowl'. I also make my own compost, we have horses chickens rabits and a goat, all their manure gets composted with grass clippings, leaves, old hay and shavings. Its great stuff, you can't buy compost as good as the farm mixes.
That’s so cool though eh, even on our own properties there are different micro climates. I’m glad the raised beds are working, I just built these beds so hopefully it’ll help with the weeds too. Right on! 👍
Maggie is a sweet looking kitty! I love her stripes and white feet. Make sure you drain the duck pond down below the plastic pipes and filters so they don’t freeze and bust. Just some advice from an old pool lady. Have a beautiful day!
Great video. Love the farm life. The soil in the beds look great. Can't wait to see the garlic coming up. Have a great day! ❤😊 How about Desi and Lucy or Ricky and Lucy for the geese?? Just a thought. 😂
I planted 200 cloves of garlic this year. I hope it’s enough. I also have been making my own compost. A way smaller scale than you though. And the best part is I don’t even have any land. I have 8 raised beds in my parking space. I live in a wicked congested city outside of Boston and don’t have any land.

Hello from Indianapolis, Indiana. I love watching your farm adventures. I still don't know which are more entertaining, the cats or the duck? Both are very smart and entertaining. I have a backyard garden and yes I make compost. Your garden is looking amazing. , 🫶💞🫶
The nice thing about ducks is you could just sit there and watch/listen. Whereas you need to follow the cats to watch them. ( unless they follow you, which sometimes they do)
I live in what is called a Patio home, so not much yard. But, you have inspired me to do some kind of growing next year. Going to do some research and see what I can do love watching you enhance your farm and see all the animals! Thank you so much for sharing.
You can do it, Donna. I have a patio on the back of my house facing south. It did great, but you have to water a lot. In NC, it gets so hot during summer. I oftentimes had to water 2 x a day. Good luck.
🇦🇺Around the garden fence put in a few gates to allow the tractor to get closer. In the future you may need to redo the fence line, making the garden bigger to allow the tractor to access more garden beds.

I want to plant the garlic a bit earlier but I’m always so busy and procrastinate. You’re doing well getting them in early October. This time of year it could snow any day now so better to be ready.
Hey, I think I might know what's causing Big Red Rooster's lameness. I think his spurs are overgrown and might need trimming. (They call it trimming, but it's actually more of a gentle twisting action. There are videos and instructions on chicken sites about how to do it.) My neighbor recently had to do this for his lame elderly rooster, and it's getting around great now, chasing hens like a young fellow.😄
I personally don’t like twisting and pulling the entire spur off, I just trim it. And although he needs a trim, I’ve done it before and he’s still wonky. He must have done balance or muscle issue. Other than his balance he’s still in good spirits, he does his thing, crows a lot too.
@@fionnaitsradag5152 I really thought it was the spurs too, this has been going on for over 2 years and then I trimmed them and he was still wonky. But maybe thats why the hens keep plucking all his tail feathers and pecking his butt cause they think he's weak. That's why I decided to just keep him separate.
