i always said if they did induct pete rose to wwe HOF they need to induct referee and people who made wwe what is it now - managers/referee/music composer ect..
I remember one time I went to a WWE live event in LA. I shouted Mike Chioda when it was a bit quiet, and little by little real wrestling fans started shouting his name out as well. He's truly the best referee in professional wrestling; he's worked on some of the biggest matches and made the right calls when any wrestler got or nearly injured.
The one Mike Chioda moment for me that I will always remember is Judgment Day 2002 and its Hell In A Cell between Triple H and Chris Jericho. Y2J has Hunter in the Walls Of Jericho on top of the cell, and Mike Chioda makes the INCREDIBLY bold decision to climb up to the top of the cell as well and officiate the rest of the match up there, where he could have EASILY fallen off and potentially killed himself with just one misstep.
True story: After a Smackdown in 2002 or 2003, Mike Chioda let me and my two friends into the ring as they were breaking everything down for the night. We ran in, shook the ropes, took a bump, and ran out. Mike was super cool to us. Edit: It's actually hilarious that most of you guys don't believe me. If you knew more you'd even believe less, so, it just is what it is. Like the one guy said, it was a common occurrence back in the day that if you stuck around after a show and got down to the floor, you could talk to these guys and get into some pretty cool stuff, as long as they trusted you.
Ppl from my childhood always told me these same Stories about Refs letting them into the ring after shows, I never believed them fully. But your story confirms it
What an awesome clip, Mike Chioda is a legend! And how surprisingly decent that Linda had the most familial awareness of Shane's well-being. That plywood spot still stands out to me as so incredibly dangerous.
