The conversation at GateGourmet FLL..... "Someone paid $50 USD for two meals!?! No one was supposed to ever do this!!! Hurry up and get an order ready."
During the more than seven hours of the economy class flight from JFK to Berlin, the staff did not even offer a glass of water. Cattle transported in Europe are drinking more water free of charge. For cabin/personal luggage weighing approximately 8 kg, a fee of $85 was imposed upon embargo. Fly With Norske Atlantic Airways. Exclusively!
You can take food through TSA as long as it’s not liquid. Completely frozen ice or ice packs can also go through TSA to keep food cold. Drinks can be purchased past security and some airports have fill stations for empty bottles so you might be able to bring a reusable bottle with you and get free water. But ice may be hard to get for free.
I mean you can always eat at the airport before you board so you aren’t that hungry on the flight. Most airport food is almost always cheaper then airplane food
A good idea is a sub or hoagie packed with proteins. I order a ham and swiss LTM hero and put it in my backpack. If it is cut in half you have 2 meals. Get some kettle cooked chips (BBQ my fav) to go along!
Like, who in God's name would pay $50 (Which at the time of writing is equal to €45 + 7cent)JUST to get a decent meal on a transatlantic night flight. That is a daylight robbery in my eyes. What if you hadn't time to grab a meal airside if it was busy at security and didn't want to bother paying $50 for that?. Norse need to lower prices to as much as 1/2 or even 3/4 that price to make it more available to the average transatlantic traveller.
Exactly what is expected of a concept like this. Pushing the prices as low as possible, while charging extra for food and other comfort. Pretty much the Norwegian 787s under a new name, but the same level of service. Will be interesting to see if they'll actually be able to make it, long haul low cost is usually a death sentence.
@@Flexflex744 Still under a year since they started operating. Will be interesting to see if they survive longer than the other new (and already failed) Norwegian carrier called Flyr.
250 dollars for the meals and flight is the figure you need to look at. Other airlines give worse meal for free, but charge more overall. Think of it that way. Have you flown Lufthansa recently.
Two things: 1st...Nice to see a trip report with no talking. 2nd...The way around the food thing is simply to purchase snacks or whatever before entering the plane. The only thing I missed flying with Norse was a flight map! Come on! 10h flight OSL-LAX over some of the most amazing landscapes on Earth and you can't even know where you are... Otherwise, a good airline if you wanna buy just a one-way ticket (with no return leg). In other case, the prices are pretty much the same as any other airline with better service once you add some food or seat. By the way!! Did the crew block the windows in dark mode? That's the only reason I always avoid long-haul on a Boeing 787. I know many airlines already told their crews to dim the windows but not block them in that state, as they got a lot of negative feedback from customers...
Yeah, that’s also a main reason for me to avoid flying on 787 - when I choose a window seat, and in many cases even have to pay for the “privilege” to sit at the window, I really don’t want a flight crew on a power trip to force dim the windows on me.
apart from the $50 food this looks like a good deal, especially when sometimes the premium class seats on this carrier are cheaper than some economy seats for this route

Flew Norse Atlantic from JFK Terminal 7 to London Gatwick on Friday November 3rd 2023. Booked my self and son via the web. Bought the add on of lounge access before my flight, not cheap. Delighted to discover that the Terminal 7 airport lounge does NOT accept bookings from Norse and you have to pay $65 at the door to access the lounge. From what the airport lounge staff said, this is a regular occurance. So I'm spreading the love by leaving this comment in as many Norse videos that I can find.
I took their predecessor, Norwegian Air Shuttle, from the West Coast to London several times on this airplane type, and am going to fly Norse this fall. I have never, ever, ever flown trans-Atlantic in economy and never would. Premium economy is the only way to go--wider seat, tons of legroom, more recline, everything included, for a fraction of business class on any other carrier. If you don't need a private suite and a lie-flat bed, this is by far the best deal.

I am very interested in this flight video as my wife and I are planning a trip to England in September and Norse flies nonstop from LAX to LGW for cheap.
Normally, I enjoy an enormous meal before the flight - typically consisting of beef/bean burritos and sauerkraut juice, then blow up the lavatory on the way over. ✈️
I just learned that Norse is built on the bones of bankrupt Norwegian Air. It means that all the planes are from that airline, with the same seats, entertainment system, and features. If you look at a Norwegian Air review it will be the exact same except the name is different. Even the Premium Economy which is among the best among all carriers including the main line. Not sure they will make it as the planes in all the reviews are pretty empty particularly in Premium, but maybe they will. Appreciate this review. Considering the low cost and the fact they are much higher end than say Play or French Bee they seem to be the airline to take if you are trying to save money but not give up a ton of the normal benefits of flying.
Except the meals which are very expensive ....what a huge difference with Scoot i hope Norse will expand to Asian routes also . Despite having hard times in aviation world now.
That $20 breakfast is a complete lopsided deal, especially considering like you said the airline is otherwise a great value for money. I wonder if not even bothering with the preorder meals and just using that buy-on-board menu would be a better value proposition
another great vlog. i avoid the 787 at all costs. i do not care if the fare is 400 more to avoid the 787 i will pay that or not go. all other boeing planes are fine. just the 787 i avoid. i want control of my window shade thank you very much. another reason why i bring my own food on board (usually one of those denty moore beef stew bowls from the market). it i still garbage but it only cost 2-3 bucks as opposed to the outrageous prices airlines charge. i do like Norse livery though. even though the food looked bad i like the fact Felix gave an honest opinion on how it tasted not just based on the price. food tasted good but not worth 50 bucks.
You do realise if you fly Lufthansa or something Food is free on long haul flights it's Only Norse I can think of who charge on a 9 hour flight. Even Jetblue a low cost carrier formerly offers meals for free on its JFK and BOS to LHR and LGW services WestJet to maybe Air Transat charge but I am not certain. But Norse out of the regularly scheduled International not seasonal flights Norse charge as to do Cebu Pacific in Asia but on the Transatlantic market Norse and maybe Air Transat
@Lord Darlo i do realize that. I fly Delta mostly, and they offer meals. But i am such a picky eater that i always bring something just in case i do not like what is offered. It works good for Amanda cause she will eat anything. So if i do not like what is offered, then she basically gets 2 meals. LOL
$50 for two "meals" that cost the airline less than $10 all in including the acquisition of drinks......wow! Makes me wonder if paying $200 for that business class seat would be worth going for.
Missed a flight on Norse due to the London rail strikes, September 30 2023, asked for a refund still haven't heard anything and they have no phone number to call. Never flying low cost outside the US again. Even Spirit has a customer support phone line. European airlines in general have fallen off a cliff since covid. It's gotten to the point that I'd argue the big 3 are better than many European flag carriers.
Unfortunately, it is not the airline's fault that you did not make it to the airport on time. While I understand your frustration, at the end of the day, they fulfilled their side of the contract. Making the trains run on time was not part of their responsibilities. If I were you, I'd rather try to claim compensation through your travel insurance, maybe your credit card company, for the incurred cost. The airline is definitely not the one to blame here.
@@simply_aviation Yeah I can understand that, my bigger issue is that European airlines seem to be hard to get a hold of. I even had a coworker tell me they couldn't get in contact with Icelandair. Here in the US EVERY airline has a customer support number where you can talk to a person. Its more the lack of customer support that's frustrating.
It's always safest to use official channels of communication. I can see that Norse has both an e-mail address and a form on their website. Phone numbers are dangerous these days, because scammers might post fake phone numbers on other websites like Google Maps or in forums, in order to scam you into giving away your credit card data. Messaging airlines directly is always best, and in Europe the consumer protection laws are stringent. So while I agree that US airlines are easier to reach, I find them much less likely to offer genuine help or compensation. Maybe Norse simply ignored you because they are not at fault, no action on their part is required, and it's just easier to not reply.
I wonder how an airline based in Norway (with subsidiary in the UK) can operate a flight between the USA and Germany. I think this is a "seventh freedom" flight, since looking up Norse Atlantic flight 622 shows that it didn't extend on either end beyond Fort Lauderdale or Berlin. The USA and Germany both have to grant Norse Atlantic that seventh freedom, correct? Why would the USA grant that right to a Norwegian airline? There is no way a US airline would be permitted to operate a flight which was only from Germany to Norway, or Germany to Brasil (for instance, to make it intercontinental). How and why are such rights/"freedoms" granted to European airlines but never to American airlines?
Flying from JFK to Paris in June on Norse in Economy. My flight leaves at just after midnight (my time), and arrives in Paris at 130 (their time). My plan is to get a couple donuts from the concourse, eat shortly after take off, then sleep the rest of the flight. By the time I land, I will be somewhat rested, and ready for lunch. lol
Felix, you got jipped on that meal... They should've given you a bigger portion, plus a side salad, warm roll and a free drink for that cost....oh and better utensils... I know Norse is an LCC, but still, you know? Aloha from Hawai'i 😀 👍
I have a question Felix, if you wanted to watch a movie did they provide any headphones or earphones? Or was it sound from the tv or you had to provide your own listening device? 🤔
The onboard menu selection looks okay and slightly reasonable compare to other LCC in Europe. But I would probably avoid buying a full out meal at those prices. That breakfast is not worth $20 (£17)- I would be happy to offer £10-£12 at a push!
Thanks for showing us what a meLon a LCC looks like. I’d rather have a big filling dinner at home before going to the airport and pack some snacks for the flight. Or grab a bite at the airport. Paying $50 for such meal is just not worth it ($30+$20) And it’s awkward if your seat mates skip the meal service and you’re the only one in your row eating. 😂

Wonderful video! Liked!
another great vlog. i avoid the 787 at all costs. i do not care if the fare is 400 more to avoid the 787 i will pay that or not go. all other boeing planes are fine. just the 787 i avoid. i want control of my window shade thank you very much. another reason why i bring my own food on board (usually one of those denty moore beef stew bowls from the market). it i still garbage but it only cost 2-3 bucks as opposed to the outrageous prices airlines charge. i do like Norse livery though. even though the food looked bad i like the fact Felix gave an honest opinion on how it tasted not just based on the price. food tasted good but not worth 50 bucks.
LOL
I’m from Berlin Germany 🇩🇪 and live 28 years in Florida
Paris New york is 280 €, a pretty good deal if you ask me :)
$50 for two "meals" that cost the airline less than $10 all in including the acquisition of drinks......wow! Makes me wonder if paying $200 for that business class seat would be worth going for.
Question! Does Norse have online check-in? I can’t find anything about it on the website.
I appreciate that you go on economy and review them instead of first and business class like the other reviewers
How do you get this tickets soo cheap? You could do a great episode about buying tickets.
When I think of holidays I think of your amazing videos keep up the good work😎✈️🛫🛬🧳
I wonder how an airline based in Norway (with subsidiary in the UK) can operate a flight between the USA and Germany.
As Fort Lauterdale is a Jetblue hub i travel through there ALOT but i only see terms E,F and G
Flying from JFK to Paris in June on Norse in Economy. My flight leaves at just after midnight (my time), and arrives in Paris at 130 (their time). My plan is to get a couple donuts from the concourse, eat shortly after take off, then sleep the rest of the flight. By the time I land, I will be somewhat rested, and ready for lunch. lol
Its actually funny how this video gets posted the same day FLL gets closed due to heavy storms and flooding here in south florida
Cabin looks nice. Just the IFE screens are quite small by the looks of it
Haha I love how you just cant forgive yourself for those 50 bucks😂 for one moment I thought you wrote “… seat starvation” 😂 great video!
Well done
Felix, you got jipped on that meal...
They should've given you a bigger portion, plus a side salad, warm roll and a free drink for that cost....oh and better utensils...
I know Norse is an LCC, but still, you know?
Aloha from Hawai'i 😀 👍
For $50 is definitely just buy food ahead of time in the terminal but i appreciate you showing us!
what is a standard lavatory
nice report
Since departure is at 11pm I'd skip the dinner. But, I'd definitely need to buy something semi-substantial to eat before the 8 hour flight ends.
Even at $50 the savings on the airfare is worth it. And more legroom with a folding table is more than a "particular" yellow bird we know 😊
I have a question Felix, if you wanted to watch a movie did they provide any headphones or earphones? Or was it sound from the tv or you had to provide your own listening device? 🤔
As mentioned in the video, headphones were only available for purchase, so you either had to bring your own or purchase them.
Great review as always!
The onboard menu selection looks okay and slightly reasonable compare to other LCC in Europe. But I would probably avoid buying a full out meal at those prices. That breakfast is not worth $20 (£17)- I would be happy to offer £10-£12 at a push!
I like the 787. It feels fancy sitting in.
What was the load factor?
Thanks for showing us what a meLon a LCC looks like. I’d rather have a big filling dinner at home before going to the airport and pack some snacks for the flight. Or grab a bite at the airport.
Paying $50 for such meal is just not worth it ($30+$20)
And it’s awkward if your seat mates skip the meal service and you’re the only one in your row eating. 😂
How's the new Berlin airport?
Ich schaue mir dieses Video immer an wenn ich auf TH-cam bin.
Do you know if active duty military gets free checked baggage?
Do they at least provide water for economy? I assume its a no.
