SHOW-YA the best Japanese Female metal band, I remember being in Japan in 1989 and 2000 and seeing them live, and no disrespect to the ladies for there ages now in these 60's they are still going strong, beautiful ladies always .... I even got to meet Terada Keiko the lead singer she is was awesome to talk to, lucky I speak Japanese
SHOW-YA is a legend. They're one of thee pioneers of japanese all female rock bands. They paved the way for other bands to come. In fact, Keiko Terada organizes an annual festival to support other all female rock bands. BAND-MAID played in one of those festivals. Imagine that, a festival with all these female rock bands, leaded by the absolute legend of all of them...that's heaven!
Thanks!! Yes,that is Keiko!!!! She is 56y.o and still beautiful now,But this is 30 years ago! She left show-ya in early 90's onese, and an Japanese American singer Steffany joined to the band. Steffany is not as famous as Keiko, but she is great singer and beauty, too! She sing in English for some songs.
It's such a pleasure to see someone reacting to Show-Ya! I just found their album "Outerlimits" (with Watashi Wa Arashi) recently and the WHOLE album is killer! I just can't understand it hasn't been a worldwide hit back then, they had everything - great songs, great look, a charismatic singer (love Keiko!), a fantastic guitarplayer (love Sun-Go!) ... the whole band was ready for world domination. I hope this goal will be achieved by their daughters (or grand-daughters) Band-Maid, Lovebites, Mary's Blood, Brats, Nemophila ... Btw, nearly every year, Keiko and Show-Ya organize a female festival, with the best japanese acts - NAON@YAON - there's many clips.
because of you i checked out outerlimits on amazon usa and it's out there all right. 140 bucks! wow. i hope you got it for less than that. if i was rich i'd pony up the bucks!
Love the enthusiastic reviews of this great band. Keiko is my favorite vocalist, male or female. Not sure why they are not one the biggest bands ever. Thanks for helping spread the word!
@@mighty_themultitasker that is a great song! I would have a hard time picking one. Anything live is great. For studio stuff their last release, Aurora is a fantastic, seemingly overlooked album. Heishi no Shouzou, Monster & Day Breaker are great. They were scheduled to have a new album out by now. We can always hope!
@@mighty_themultitasker , yes Aurora was released in 2017. Your favorite song Cry for Freedom, is off Outerlimits which was released in 1989 & had a lot of hits and was their biggest album.
allright avenger! a ride in the delorean. i think of keiko as kind of the japanese version of pat benetar backed by a girl group and heavier. man is she cool!
Its unfortunate that the quality of a lot of the earlier videos of them is not that good, but they absolutely tore it up in the 80's, no western metal band was more insane. And Keiko's voice deserves global recognition.
@@hiawatha.g yeah i'm an old guy and just found out about them about 6 months ago- i was listening to stuff like the police, thompson twins, huey lewis ,van halen etc.in the 80's not even knowing japan had a thriving music scene. glad i found the maids in 2016 to get in on all this great stuff
@@thedocofrock1890 Hey, I missed out too, had no clue until a few years ago, now playing catchup. I was an incipient metal-head (into Purple, Sabbath etc.) but Western metal became too repetitive, loud and obnoxious for me, so I focused on jazz, new-wave etc. Love the Police! What an amazing thing to find this whole Japanese scene. I've seen around 10 of these bands now in concert, including Band-Maid, and the rest of them are on my bucket list.
@@hiawatha.g i have not had the honor of seeing the maids in action and was all set to go to inkcarceration in july but you know that's not happening now. and we are still waiting for our first usa tour by lovebites.not missing either of them though if it happens
I watched some of the "Reaction to"-vids of "Watashi Wa Arashi" here at YT recently and really appreciate the positive reactions to a 30-years-old song which hasn't lost the least of its freshness until today. Your speechlessnes is so funny and probably a heartfelt compliment to those girls. I simply don't understand why they didn't make it in the U.S. back in 1990. Have a look at this documentation about them being in L.A. th-cam.com/video/mp8rrnA_jIA/w-d-xo.html I mean - isn't that simply what everybody considers great entertainment? If you like - pay a second and closer attention to a special part of the song: 4:55; after the guitar solo and the bass bridge - how the guitar riff is continued leaving out the first two tones. Aaaaaaahhhhrrrr - I'd die for it!
