To think of all the amazing music we missed because American record companies didn't think we'd go for bands that sang in their own language. I would have loved to have cranked this band up on my walkman \m/!!!
All female and femail fronted rock bands were a tough sell in the 1980's, even if they spoke/ sang English - they were seen as little more than novelty acts. Vixen got heavy promotioned and toured a lot, but just couldn't sell anywhere near the number of albums that their male peers were selling, and they got dropped. Lita Ford got a lot of publicity too, and recorded some great albums, but never really broke through to mass market poexistence. Femme Fatale, fronted by Lorraine Lewis put out a solid debut album with some catchy songs, and they put on an energetic live show, but we're dropped by their record label before the second album was released. IIRC there is allegedly an unreleased second album in existance. I think that Show-Ya are _great_ (I only found them a few weeks ago, having first found Steffanie), but looking back, there is almost no chance that they were going to crack the US or UK market in any meaningful way. :(
@@pulaski1 yeah that's a damn shame, I would have loved to see more all-female metal/rock bands. But the language barrier definitely also has a lot to do with why Show-Ya was largely unknown in the U.S.
@@andromedastar4900 They played a gig in London around 1986 IIRC, at the legendary Marquee Club on Wardour St. I had recently moved to London, and was going to as many rock gigs as I could - many at the Hammersmith Odeon, but at other venues like The Marquee, the Town & Country Club, the Astoria, _etc.,_ and I never even knew that they were playing .... until I read about it in 2021.
Not to mention that the west was too involved in itself to pay much attention to Japan. Sure we knew Loudness but that was just about it. Really feel like I missed something not knowing about them until last year. :/
THey played L.A. I heard and never saw the ads or who they were or I would have been there in a heart beat as I lived right off the Strip. Damn. THEY HAVE GOT TO COME BACK TO L.A. OR anywhere in America as there is a resurgence of female heavy metal bands in America. As soon as this goddamned virus is killed.

恵子さん、初めて観た時にはシティーハンターの冴子だったか良子だったか、とにかくそのキャラに見えるくらいに色っぽくて惹かれたものですわ。
つまりボーカルの見た目にしか意識が向いてなかったという事だけど、あれから３０年以上経って改めて観ると演奏力もずば抜けて素晴らしい。
ほんと、ガールズバンドで男から見ても格好いいと思える代表格でしょうな。時代が経過してもこうやって懐かしめるなんてありがたいですね。
演奏凄い上手💕女の子とは思えないレベルですよね。ギターの人の指の早さと正確さと力強さ。もっと早くたくさんの人に認められても良かった位の実は凄いバンドなのだと今更想う。
女の子より女性の方がいいと思います

当時、私は嵐を車で聞いていたら会社の人にお前相変わらず変な歌聞いてるなってけなされてても聞いてました。その頃から寺田さん他、全てのメンバー全力でやってたのが大好きでした。今もドラムなんかもほとんど変わってないパワー、もちろん他のメンバーも同じです。
限界までライブとかやってて欲しいです。9月の六本木も行きます！
