  • I really like trying new things. Since moving to France I am making so much more time to simply try things out that make me feel happy and relaxed. Without any pressure of them being perfect. It's more about enjoying the process.
    So today I am making soy wax candles. I was so happy to see how they came out at it was so easy!! These will look so beautiful in our cottage and bed & breakfast rooms once those are finished and ready to be decorated. Can't wait!

    Your candles are beautiful and the stoneware bowls are such a great decor idea. I make my own candles and I melt my soya wax and then add lavender seeds or crushed coffee beans or even ground dried citrus rind to the melted wax. When the candle burns you get a hint of the scent which is delightful. I use random pretty China teacups I found at garage sales. My other favorite thing to make are lavender wands and I place them in my guest rooms in a pretty bowl or on a small tray. I use lavender essential oil to bring them back to a full scent when the natural scent has gone away. They last for years. Another natural touch is making your own stationary for your guests. I press flowers on to the paper and they are beautiful. You have so many beautiful colored wild flowers available around you. You should try this. Your guests will love the paper and the envelopes you make for them. I also gave them a complimentary menu when they dine that I made using the pretty paper. Making your own soap is fun to. One other thing which isa fun to do when making paper is using dried leaves and flowers from trees, weeds and sticks. I paint one side with ink and gently press on to the paper. I buy vintage aged paper to use as the base. I must ask, did you give your home a name? We did just for fun. I use to do B&B, but I have stopped due to having leg surgery. We called our B&B "Twigs and Tweets" because of all the beautiful trees and birds that have made our place their home. I miss my B&B but it is time for me to go visit other B&Bs to be spoiled. I love your Vista Pictures rgey are gorgeous stills. Enjoy your wonderful home it is your sanctuary of love, peace and happiness. Such a beautiful video Marloes.

    Greetings from America! You may have learned by now that candles have a memory, and the first time you burn a candle you want to always burn it long enough so that it is liquefied to the edge of the container! Then, when you relight it the next time, it’s memory will burn the candle evenly and not just down the middle! Just thought I would share just in case as I have been burning candles for years, and learned this along the way, after many wasted candles.😊😊

    Hello Marloes, your video just popped up on my screen and i have been enjoying your channel ever since....this morning. Ha, ha.
    I totally agree with you. Doing things, making things is about having fun in the process. Not perfection, not the end result, but about having fun whilst doing them. I'm 58 and i am finally learning this.
    I applaud you for knowing it now and for sharing it with your boys.
    Still, the candles came out beautiful!!!
    See you in the next video. I have scrolled back and am slowly making my way through them. Look forward to getting to know all of you better.

    New subscriber here from Australia! I absolutely love your videos. I know you said you're from the Netherlands - are you Dutch? (silly question but just trying to place the accent! ) My father was from Miiddelburg in the Netherlands & moved to Australia in the 50's. I lost him 3 months ago & miss him so much...😔
    What a blissful & exquisitely beautiful part of the world you live in. Watching your videos feels like a meditation for me - so much serene beauty in all the glom and doom in the world right now. I'll be watching all your videos now. The music is sublime! Thank you! 🙏 Much love to you all from our hot country! ♥ 🇦🇺 xx

    Zo mooi om te horen hoe je over je passie spreekt. Dat heb ik bij Olav ook. Ik denk als ik Olav moest ontmoeten in het echte leven dat we vrienden zouden worden voor het leven. Ik heb een zeer goed gevoel bij hem hoe hij met alles omgaat en zijn werken doet.

    I have one of those same little bowls 🙂 You're lucky to have so many. I found mine in a thrift store too. I think earthy colours are so calming. The candles look really beautiful.

    Je hebt 2 geweldige houtkachels gekocht. Zijn deze ook volledig van #gietijzer Marloes? Ik heb ongeveer dezelfde gekocht hier in Vlaanderen 2de hands voor mee te nemen naar Bulgarije. Maar zwaar echt zwaar die weegt zeker 200kg.

    • @FrenchCountryLife
      @FrenchCountryLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ja ze zijn van gietijzer en super zwaar! Wat fijn dat je een kachel gevonden hebt! Ik vond het nogal een uitgebreide rekensom om te weten hoeveel vermogen er nodig was. Onze kachel installateur had hele pagina’s met berekeningen om te weten welke kachel er moest komen omdat het blijkbaar ook risicovol is als een kachel juist teveel vermogen heeft. Ik leer zóveel nieuwe dingen door de verbouwing! Hopelijk kunnen jullie snel aan de verbouwing beginnen!

      @@FrenchCountryLife ja je moet de cubs tellen van de woning of de kamers wat je ermee wil verwarmen dat is met airconditioning ook zo. Maar dat zijn de beste houtkachels wat je geïnstalleerd hebt!
