3:20 This is game of the year for me.

1:45 man, people who say that this theme hasn't as much "identity" as the first game's dragon theme are really trying to ignore this

I think this theme is possibly the best battle theme in the game for me, but there's still less identity than Grigori's. That's because this game lacks "central themes" to build leitmotifs around.
For example, Grigori's eerie choral start of his theme plays in basically all of his appearances, so when they weaved into various soundtracks, it evokes him. They even weaved in Eternal Return into his final battle theme.
If that part of 1:45 was actually part of the game's new main theme in the same style as Eternal Return, it would have an even bigger impact.

@@MuraCasardis I hate to tell you this, but every theme carrying one leitmotif gives them all far less identity of their own... You could at best argue that DD1's soundtrack was more recognizable overall, but definitely not that its individual tracks are.

@@TheStraightestWhitest Not only do disagree with you on that, I believe you are just wrong. First of all, I never said EVERY theme should have a leitmotif. Not even DD1 does that. That would be nonsensical.
Concerning motifs making songs "have less identity," just look at some of the most beloved OST in the gaming and movie sphere, such as FF14 and LotR. Both examples use leitmotifs to perfection while having very unique tracks defining its best moments. Leitmotifs are one of the things that make things memorable because, well, they juggle your memories by bringing recognizable patterns back.
Also did you notice the End of the Struggle motif in this very song above, at the 5:35 mark (the background melody)? Even this song proves my point. A decade later and fans still talk about/listen to End of the Struggle. The devs probably knew, and it ended up being the only DD1 song remixed back in.
EDIT: Don't get me wrong btw. I love a lot of the soundtracks in this game. I would even argue the regular combat theme in Vermund is my favorite and much better than the one in DD1. I also prefer the Cyclops and Griffin OST in this game over the first. My statement is more on the OST as a whole.

@@MuraCasardis I hate that most people call the soundtrack mediocre. :(

@bazoogaming3044 No need to pay them attention, though. Some people are way too hyperbolic with their negativity, just as some are with their praises. The soundtrack is good enough and has great highlights, even if it's not the best out there.
If you enjoy it, that's great!

I love this theme, I always drag out the flashback in Melve so I can hear it more.
