What's your favourite bit of bike tech from the 2024 Sea Otter Classic? 🦦
We also want to hear your travel clothing iron recommendations! we're thinking of treating Si 😉
PLUS, we have more tech from Sea Otter at www.globalcyclingnetwork.com/tech 👍
Kona, but they packed up, and left on us?
Kona introduced invisible bikes.
😬
That praying mantis 😅
“I feel like I’m walking faster “ 😂
We could barely focus 🤣
Thanks so much for the great review of the SAVA Dream Maker! We're thrilled you appreciate our bike's features and performance.
Damn I am buying one of that brand. Never even knew they existed.
The design and quality is definitely up there. It's just that they're not quite known because they're based in China though the design is originally from Germany if I remember it right.
It's a wild looking bike! We're sure it was a popular bike from the show?
You guys make good bikes. I bought a SAVA X3 ultegra in 2020, very satisfied with the purchase. I hope your brand will grow even bigger in the future
@@seer-9126 Thank you so much for your support and for choosing the SAVA. Our community's satisfaction is what drives us forward.Happy cycling!
Just when we thought Si's obsession with huge POC glasses couldn't get worse, POC and Si both say Hold my beer
Hahahah these two are unstoppable! 👀Full body sunglasses anyone?
POC quality = 👍
POC aesthetics = 😬
The Titanium bike is very stunning.
Something special right! 👌 Would you go for a titanium bike?
@@gcntechoh gosh yes
@@gcntech Nope. Too many issues with Ti welds to take risks at current price tag. Purely for dads keeping themselves busy with their dream/final bike, building up and within few years fighting warranty case.
@@event4216 What are you on about? Most titatium frame have an extremely long or lifetime warranty. It should NEVER fail.
Yes indeed, made in USA!
So excited to see Sage titanium featured! I cant say enough great things about my storm king. Ive raced it in multiple gravel events and its one of the best bikes I have been fortunate to own.
Looks like such a cool bike! How long have you had one? 👀
@@gcntech Ive had it about a year now but this is my second Sage titanium frame. The first being the PDXCX which I raced in CX and gravel events. Its been an outstanding performer and really improved my gravel experiences. Where do I send pics?
Re Prologo's lightest ever 3D printed saddle... Perhaps while you're there, you should mention the Bjorn Setka to them which is 131g...
Great handlebars from Redshift but when are the bike industry going to realise that one of their biggest markets are the over 50s who have the largest disposable income and the least flexibility. Why can't they make at least a few road bikes with a more relaxed geometry to suit our ageing bodies?
50+'s also want to be cool being able to ride race bikes with low front end....at least make bikes easy to be reset for higher cockpit without proprietary stems, hidden cabling and all that race nonsense.
Just do yoga. I ride a fully slammed Caad10 and I'm 50! 😁
But seriously,, there are endurance models that are less aggressive and commuter bikes which are even more relaxed again. My commuter bike handles like a bus (Giant Cross City) esp after I put a longer stem on it! .
there's a ton of endurance bikes what are you talking about
There are plenty of relaxed endurance bikes out there but people are drawn towards the race bikes. Do you think the industry should be pushing endurance bikes more? Conor is a big fan 👉th-cam.com/video/TWv1dhFQJ2g/w-d-xo.html
That Sava bike looks pretty sweet.
Pretty cool right! Would you ride one?
@@gcntech The proprietary everything makes it a 'no' for me.
Riser drop bar is perfect for me, I'm 188cm with long legs, so getting a comfortable fit on my XL Sonder Camino is a challenge. Currently have a super short Hope riser stem which isn't quite high enough.
I miss sea otter. I was volunteering there for many years, starting with the very first.. Enjoy Monterey Si.. If you can, join on the Saturday club ride from downtown Monterey thru pebble Beach. And back. A beautiful ride and. Fast
Oh we've got some riding plans whilst we are here...Eyes on GCN for more 👀
That SAVA is so sweet!
glad you had great weather at sea otter!!
Bjorn Cycles still has the lightest 3D printed saddle. "Bjorn Setka" weighing in at 131 grams
That Sava bike must be a bikefitters nightmare, with forward tilted handlebars.
Definitely not for leisure riders. It looks too beautiful to ride it outside as well.
4:33 👑 SHOW 👑
Quote of the day: “ that’s never something I knew I wanted…”. Now I do too!
Great summary!, That Sage is just ❤❤❤
very nice isn't it!
That Sava is so funny, supposedly aerodynamic, at the same time 3 huge protruding bolts sticking out at the front absolutely messing up any possible aero gains...
(The bike still looks very cool though, so just use some recessed bolts and you'll be heaps more aero).
"It's not something I ever knew I wanted. but now I do..."
🤣
Some awesome gear is coming! 😮
Forget coming! It's here 🙌
Infinity seats was there too. Great and innovative sadles and now have Gravel specific seats.
Did you go check out the stand?
Nice transition from the durable powder coat to --> barely scratched the surface 😋
😂
Si, you did a great review. /That "paint" job was amazing.
Vision factory tour would be appreciated :)
3D bartape is what i want.. Indonesia need this product.. never get slipped again 👍
Feels weird to learn about the event almost in my backyard from someone who traveled halfway across the globe to cover it 😀
will you go to it next year?
That bike looks sick!!
Which one... they all looked great to us 🤯
cool episode and even cooler stuff to see xD
That's Sea Otter for you! 🙌 Packed full of great tech!
Nice to see "trickle down" works in some form.
Trickle down tech! It's GCN Tech bingo time 🥳
Of course i enjoyed it, i just watched your sister channel viewing the latest mtb bikes & tech.....very nice....very nice from both of your channels.
Our scruffy cousins 🤣 Great to hear that you are loving our content! Anything else you would like to see from us?
@@gcntech you guys cover pretty much everything over time, so for me i'm pretty happy with your content, if anything maybe a few more longer videos a week would be nice, but i know how difficult that is if you have a main job to do as well
Great vid!
thanks! What was your favourite bit of tech?
Thank you for your support of SAVA Bicycle, we actively listen to the feedback and suggestions of cycling enthusiasts, and at the same time we will continue to output more quality products and services!😘
Riser Drops are a weird new turn I didn't really expect
Sometimes the best things come form places you least expect 👀
Olé...🚴🤘🏻🇪🇦
I'd love for you to make it by the Ari booth with images of the new road bike they have on display (as yet unofficial). I have a Fezzari (Ari) Veyo that I love - I'm curious about this new lightweight bike.
2:33 9gag logo?
Will the amount of head hair affect the benefits of the POC helmet?
3:10 i hope they also make a drop drop handlebar. i would buy it. :D
Check out the Kitchen Sink bar 😉 Thank us later
I saw that sava bike in black in real life looks cool
Wild isn't it! 👌
Hey guys, could you make a Video of the sava dream maker? Maybe even put it up against Ollies new aeroad to see how aero it really is.
And btw there is no Review on this bike whatsoever..
Thx and greetings from Germany. 🤩
The only tech I want is a 27.5 tapered fork that has a crown fender/rack mount and mid and lower eyelets for racks and fender, with 15x100mm thru axel, that fits up to a 2.4 or 2.5 tire. Rigid.
Sea Otter has become THE Mega event in cycling
Pretty great isn't it!? Have you ever been?
@@gcntech I’ve spent a week on the Monterey Peninsula as a vacation - but I definitely want to go back specifically for Sea Otter.
Did you manage to see Kona bikes before they left? Looks like another company is struggling
We hope not, Kona are a iconic cycling brand 🙌
I heard velo Toze has a new product ...
maybe you can show it in episode 2?
I never understood why cerakote hadn't made it's way into bicycles.
I want to see some of the finishes used in the firearms industry applied to steel and titanium frames. PVD I believe is one of them and looks very cool. These finishes are micro thin but hard and protective, and many lend an interesting color/finish to the metal.
I have always been puzzled by those 3d-printed saddles, why are they full of holes to catch all the dirt? Surely it would be nice to have a transparent cover at least.
Do you think you would ever try one out?
@@gcntech Probably not if I would need to pay for it :)
This made me realize that riding in the rain would soak a huge stripe right up your entire undersides crack lol... Good thing I don't:
1) Have a 3D printed saddle
2) Ride in the rain
LOL, that Sava bike is definitely China only, available in 52 and 54, that's small. It's likely 80% of the road bikes sold in Europe are 56 or larger.
Nothing about Coefficient Handle bar ?
3D printed saddles could well be the future but we need lower prices.
So awesome to see @sagetitanium in the vid, certainly one of our favorite brands here in Oregon, USA.
Have you got one? 🚴
@@gcntech I used to ride the titanium Sage Skyline Road model.
The industry and me are going in opposite directions, aaaaah!
Dream Maker wouldn't work without those 3 black bolts.
I hope handlebars can be swapped separately from fork and they aren't solid single part.
Sage
This is the only event GCN has covered that I've actually been to! I still have a visible scar on my right shoulder from crashing at T11 on lap 4 of the combined collegiate A/B circuit race in 2018. I was pedaling through the corner to try and stay on a Stanford rider's wheel and clipped a pedal on the ground. I still got up and finished 5th in the B field before limping over to medical and getting patched up, and the guys at the Giant pavilion fixed my Contend afterwards for free, which was super cool, but still, 2/10, do not recommend.
That's commitment! We love it 🙌 Keep you eyes on GCN for more Sea Otter race content soon 👀
give me more of that titanium bike.. i would like to hear about the weight of that frame. i would gladly carry 1 kg more with me, for a bike that is truly long lasting
Is that a nstaaf reference 😅?
Please keep walking, Si, and please keep filming. And sure, be your bad self in that POC helmet with a visor. It's what Californians would do. 😀
Hahahaha he's looking cool! 👌
Where is the GRX 12 speed Di2? 😢
There is always part 2... 👀
Is Si coming home with that POC helmet? I didn’t see security chase him down
we will have to inform the baggage control at the airport! 👀
150g a pair, sign me up😅
The industry is shedding grams and bits of drag to the point where..... pretty soon they'll use engines to power bicycles.
SAGE stem, I hope that's not a make of company producing average home appliances to be sold as mid-upper market stuff?
nope! Just the same name!
😅 that POC helmet maybe fast but man it looks terrible 😂 Sage titanium frame looks very nice.. Pete 🚴🏻👍
Genuine question, would you wear the POC helmet if it made you quicker?
@@gcntech nope
I would like to see the Sava get aero tested...
Us to 🙋
Prologo 3D saddle is not the lightest its the BJORN SETKA!!!131 grams
Vision "5D" bars?? Ok, I've worked out 3 of the Ds, but I'm unclear how time plays a role never mind a 5th D. Anyone?
The 5th dimension opens up when you see the price tag
@@chrisridesbicycles 🤣🤣😆
Did you see Kav? Get your head scanned for that helmet
How!? How in the hell dose one ASSEMBLE said praying mantis Bar/Stem/Forks???
6, APR 1024 AD /\ CE
Did you send the guy who used WD40 for his chains to review tech?!! 🤣🤣🤣
The one and only! The only use we have for WD40 is now to oil up the Si-borg 🤖 He's a tech loving machine
BATMAN
Where's Tom Pidcock?
He was busy recovering from something called Amstel Gold? 🤷
Instead of a video on say how to tie you riding shoes.
You actually made an interesting video for those that haven't just bought there first bicycle. Wow what a new concept.
See how long you can Keepemcoming
We've always produced videos like this and we love nothing more than getting stuck in at big events. Anything other shows we should take a look at?
@@gcntech any vintage bike show would be cool in my opinion.
It’s a crime to cover up titanium partly because it’s pointless. My Vaast magnesium frame has cerekote because it needs the protection.
How about this for Titanium treatment? 👉 th-cam.com/video/vlMhBrcvb24/w-d-xo.html
Class kit AND bikes…. Isn’t Si lucky to be sent there 🤔 big confused how A World champs saddle could be Tom Pidcoks…… UNLESS for MTB????
all about marketing.....tech....idk
I always find it odd when these guys talk about a rise in handlebar is for none racers. Racers have the same problems with range of motion issues as anyone else and should address these issues with a bike fit.
Definitely not the lightest 3D printed saddle on the market...
If that's the hottest...
look at all these brands that sell stuff for 20 times what they are worth and i will never own
Big question - does Si have tears running down his cheeks?!
Simon
Calm down a bit
He's in his happy place 🤣
The Handelbar of that Sava bike is ridiculous. ZERO ergonomics in the top position. It#s V shaped. You'd be riding with ellbows out. I want to see someone riding this for hours.
Are they going to make a bike that doesn't fall over and take out 35 other riders?
👀
Man, this industry is stagnating so, so hard. Where is the innovation?! I don't mean endlessly tweaking miniscule geometry angles, same ole' 3D printed stuff, carbon wheels and bars that are all just the same rehashed stuff with negligible differences, another version of the same drivetrain, more e-waste, etc. I would honestly not be surprise if this event stops happening in a couple of years. I commend Simon's enthusiasm, I'd be completely dead inside.
The UCI regulations are very strict. It’s not the industry’s fault.
@@three10media Not everything has to be racing or UCI, imagine a world like that? Companies would hurt badly, oh wait....... Just make cool and innovative products for normal people.
@@2WheelsGood.01 like what?
@@three10media I'm not getting paid to come up with these ideas my guy. Look at the 90's and early 00's. The whackiest, coolest, out of the box ideas.
@@2WheelsGood.01 ok... well where do you want to see innovation? What are your issues today with bikes?
$5k for a 105 equipped bike? Stop it! Stop endorsing nonsense #GCNTech!
That bartape on that Sava. 🤮
Come on, no body is going to slam their stem to look 'cool' if the only way it works is to use the riser handlebars. Great for their purpose, but cool, it is not.
I watched and watched and waited for something new…. Vision wheels just look like hunt, enve, etc… poc helmet looks like something like the aero helmet I used 15 years ago from limar, aero chain rings, not new… titanium bikes- rode one of those 25 yrs ago…… it should be Not Tech… cos nothing there was new, not even the dream slayer which uses split bar/forks tech from a few brands years ago. Tres disappointing.
Have you checked the source of manufacture...!?
Just when you think POC can't possible design a worse looking helmet, they prove you wrong.
Who in the world designs their crap?
It may not be your style but it's cool to see where tech is going and how much impact aero will have 💨
Thank you for the video.
The background noise (music) is bloody annoying / obnoxious / superfluous. Please drop it.
Meh... new tech, no such thing anymore. Certainly not anything needle-changing
The time spent on the Rab products...how is that the 'latest tech'? The Rab segment should have been edited out of the video. A waste of viewer's time.
The joys of time stamps mean you can roll on if it's not for you 🙌 We've also got a whole host of videos from Sea Otter, hopefully there is tech that you'll like
Actually feel dumber from watching that. What was new???
Your silly comment is new
hi Mark, thanks for the comment! What did we miss?! Let us know, and hopefully we can go and get it! Cheers
That Chinese Sava aero bike is beyond ugly and there’s no way it’s more aero that standard aero bikes. There’s way too much surface area on the leading edge not to mention the weight and how unsightly it is
Would you like to see it in the wind tunnel? 💨
@@gcntechyes, that would be interesting
More gimmicks and crap
Si's jokes aren't that bad 😉
“A lot of bike for $5K.” Who buys into this scam? $5K for a made in china 105 equipped bike. Outrageous.
Wow that intro was annoying huh (not a Karen or anything but man what the hell was that). Also very anticlimactic tech innovations, I hope part 2 is better.
