I’m blind now. Painting is difficult. Only because I don’t know what it looks like. But listening to Bob paint is so comforting. Familiar sounds of joy. Yep. Makes my heart happy.
Yeah I think I am genuinely amazed how this is the only video I've seen on TH-cam that doesn't have hate,poking fun or criticism.Thats amazing in this day and age,didn't think I'd ever see it.Just shows what an amazing guy he was.
He brings out the best in people. Which is why I feel we shouldn't poke fun of people who act happy. We need them to remind us. All this dark stuff in entertainment so we don't feel alone in our dark thoughts won't pull us out of it. Won't motivate us. We need a mental balance. Let people become like Bob. No sneering at happy and you aren't. Because they will start to hide their light. And you forget you have light too. That's how I see it.

Real strong people...and there are not 'too' many, I assume, who, mostly and usually, turn their lives completely around, just to serve the other in a complete positive way... Yep, all we ought to do 'here', seems to be no more than a TEST and might anyone have been prepared to serve the other fully, during our stay 'here' and that with all our hearts, biggest part of the TEST has been delivered. It all feels like 'this is what's goin on', though there's still some place left for the doubt...caus that's so human too! Everyone of us is privileged...look up the key to the lock...I hope everyone is able, someday, to come this far.
My gf and I used to drink tea and watch these videos. We broke up and I haven't been able to watch Bob bc it made me sad. This is the first video I've watched in nearly two years. It's a nice treat.
I can relate, we used to watch masterchef together, we consider it as "cheating" if one watches an episode without the other. I couldn't watch that show ever again since she left.
I was a little kid when the show was on TV (Germany). I didn't learn English yet so I couldn't understand anything he was saying. It was the way he said it which calmed me down big time. I sometimes stayed up late only to watch the re-run at night to hear his voice again. I'm so happy to watch him paint wonders now on TH-cam and guess what, my kids love watching him too :)

He doesn't even try, randomly places things and goes with the flow. If I tried that I would over think things too much. Even if I was careful, it still wouldn't compare to his lol.. a true gift to humanity. Rest well Mr. Ross
Well he did have a reference painted before the show so he had a pretty good idea of what he was going for, finding a nice composition takes a little more time so take your time to figure out yours
I think that is the idea he is trying to portray, seems like this art style isnt about intracate techniques for fine detailing. The idea of getting good at this should be pumping out as many paintings you can. Go for volume, obviously try to make ur shit look good but don't spend too long on the one thing because you'd be learning alot more slow
Do any of you other Bob Ross addicts find yourself looking at trees differently? When I'm on my walks, I see the trees the way Bob did. I see all the beauty, and holes, and colour, and depth. I want to wave and say, Yeah, I know about Bob! I find myself staring in awe... it's like I'm seeing them for the first time! Thank you Bob!!
I used to watch this show when it was on TV in the UK about twenty or so years ago. I was suffering from a mildly debilitating depression back then but I forgot about that whenever this show came on. Whilst I never did any painting myself, the therapeutic affect of watching Bob in action, on reflection, was an important part of my life in its own little way. I'm so pleased that full episodes are now available on TH-cam. They're still just as good to watch now. Thanks for uploading them.
Hello, yes I know what your saying about depression! I had the same problem, but cured of it as I learned to paint..Try paintng it's not s hard as it looks...there is another guy on youtube by the name of Kevin Hill. Check him out also...take care n feel better...Shalom!

Ngl watching Bob's videos has got me emotional lately. Like all I wanna do is cry because...........I feel it's rare to feel and hear and see a kind-hearted person just doing their thing, not a care in the world, just making as he put it, "Happy Little Trees". Nowadays with how toxic the internet and social media is, it's rather nice to get away from those and just see the beautiful places being created. I wish I could just jump into the paintings, they look so serene.

I have been wanting to learn how to paint for a long time. The thing is I don’t want to use the oil paints Bob uses. I learned there’s an oil paint that you can clean with water instead of paint thinner. I’d probably want to take a class to learn how to paint

Back in the day, I used to watch this late at night, when I couldn’t sleep. Bob’s soothing voice would calm my anxious mind and I’d eventually sleep. Now, I find the same calming voice. I so appreciate his presence
I'm so glad that the me of November 2019 found the Bob Ross corner of TH-cam. It's making the me of May 2020 be capable of facing the world... I swear, it only takes 5 minutes of Bob's soothing voice, accompanied by only the sounds of a knife on the palette or canvas, or his brush dancing across the canvas - 5 minutes, and I'm well on my way to calm, well, calmer, anyways. I can feel my brain slowing down.
These videos are a blessing now in 2020 with all the crazy crap going on! Coronavirus, murder hornets, armed protesters... I'm so glad I can watch a soothing Bob Ross video every night to help me fall asleep!

I'm 38 now........as a kid i remember watching him like it was yesterday on KCPT.......so relaxing and educational.....sometimes it put my lil-self to sleep after a long day at school.....just hearing his soothing & peaceful voice was the trick that did it everytime for me !......R.I.P......MR. I just love watching his shows/demonstrations. i just feel so happy when I watch them. Art talent runs in my family, but my mother is a total art snob. She really stifled my motivation for a very long time. When I watch him I think to hell with art snobs. Now I feel motivated again. I hate art snobbery.
Great as always. I always make notes whilst he’s painting. Makes it easier to watch and paint along when you watch these over a few times. There’s loads of gentle advice to pick up every time. His manner and voice is sooo much confidence building and quiet. It’s lovely. He’s a ‘you can man’, not a ‘you’ll never do it man”. No matter who you might be or what your level of painting skills might be. You can create a really individual picture with his quick life-like techniques almost right away. Bob you will be an inspiration to generations yet to come. You’ve had a huge influence in the artist world and beyond. And even thoug you sleep forever at peace now, your ideas and creations very much live. Children and adults across the world keep your memory alive bright and warm just like your happy paintings. Who cares if I ever sell any of mine, I’m a happier hopeful woman for being carried along in an art world I’ve always longed to be part of and been drawn away from due to life’s real necessity. I watched back in the 1970s and 1990s. And now in 2019 I’m back again and these are still fresh and new. May be now I can learn to paint in peace at my own natural pace. And for once really enjoy just being me. Without all pushing and pulling on my energies at work and at home. I almost feel 17 again lying on the floor by the old TV enthralled by how beautiful this life could be. Anyway, thank you Mr. Ross for all your unairing hard work and dedication to the art world and especially to we struggling beginners no matter. How old we are, or how young we want be again.

Bob made it easy:) Otherwise I'd have made it too hard. He showed that details are easier when lightly brushed over, don't fuss over them too much and over-focus on them, they take care of themselves. Works for life sometimes, too.

I'm 38 now........as a kid i remember watching him like it was yesterday on KCPT.......so relaxing and educational.....sometimes it put my lil-self to sleep after a long day at school.....just hearing his soothing & peaceful voice was the trick that did it everytime for me !......R.I.P......MR. I just love watching his shows/demonstrations. i just feel so happy when I watch them. Art talent runs in my family, but my mother is a total art snob. She really stifled my motivation for a very long time. When I watch him I think to hell with art snobs. Now I feel motivated again. I hate art snobbery.
Great as always. I always make notes whilst he’s painting. Makes it easier to watch and paint along when you watch these over a few times. There’s loads of gentle advice to pick up every time. His manner and voice is sooo much confidence building and quiet. It’s lovely. He’s a ‘you can man’, not a ‘you’ll never do it man”. No matter who you might be or what your level of painting skills might be. You can create a really individual picture with his quick life-like techniques almost right away. Bob you will be an inspiration to generations yet to come. You’ve had a huge influence in the artist world and beyond. And even thoug you sleep forever at peace now, your ideas and creations very much live. Children and adults across the world keep your memory alive bright and warm just like your happy paintings. Who cares if I ever sell any of mine, I’m a happier hopeful woman for being carried along in an art world I’ve always longed to be part of and been drawn away from due to life’s real necessity. I watched back in the 1970s and 1990s. And now in 2019 I’m back again and these are still fresh and new. May be now I can learn to paint in peace at my own natural pace. And for once really enjoy just being me. Without all pushing and pulling on my energies at work and at home. I almost feel 17 again lying on the floor by the old TV enthralled by how beautiful this life could be. Anyway, thank you Mr. Ross for all your unairing hard work and dedication to the art world and especially to we struggling beginners no matter. How old we are, or how young we want be again.

Bob made it easy:) Otherwise I'd have made it too hard. He showed that details are easier when lightly brushed over, don't fuss over them too much and over-focus on them, they take care of themselves. Works for life sometimes, too.

I'm pretty sure you're right, the wet-on-wet technique doesn't work like that with acrylic.

how he made the water just amazes me. before I clicked this video I thought he would add a lot of colors but nooooo all he did was drag down the colors he used from the trees. a true artist.
I love how Bob's happy little trees always start out looking like horrible, amorphous blobs - then he just quickly dabs his brush here and there and suddenly they're a beautiful masterpiece.
