Just a heads up for anyone wanting to try this! I just succeeded (thank you very much for the video, super helpful!) but when you are pulling back the tabs on the RAM slots the tabs themselves may actually come out! They’re kind of like little keys that lock the RAM stick in place.
@@AnDrE-xb2ce, check the activity monitor to see what speed of RAM is already in your machine. My G3 came stock with a single stick of 8GB RAM running 2666Mhz - my work was adding an additional stick to double the available RAM. It's best to start with RAM running at the same speed. Also, a Google search will yield the maximum capabilities of your machine. Keep in mind that if you are replacing a single stick of RAM, if you get a stick that has a different speed that what is already installed, the machine will default the speed to whatever stick is running the slowest clock speed. So if your machine is running a single stick at 2666Mhz, and you add an additional stick running at 3200Mhz, the RAM will run at 2666Mhz.

I cannot get the back come off, and feel like if I put too much force it might break it, did you have the same thing happen and it worked? Also I feel like i need some flat-headed screwdrivers to force it to create a gap and open it. Please help :)
@@joelp7665 Hey Joel sorry I found this so late, you probably got the back off already. But next time, simply go around and pry it off but by bit, if it seems like it won’t come off check the screws and see if they’re all out. It takes some force for sure, but I don’t advise sticking things under it, unless it’s something like a card (maybe)

I have removed the 8Gb and repalced by Crucial 2 x 16Gb RAM. When I tried to start the PC is dead! I removed the cover to check the battery connections secure - quite engaged. I removed the upgrade and replaced original RAM Still dead!

Will this help with performance for games? Things like VRchat (Specifically the VR/Steam VR run versions). Because whenever I run things in VR, it does run, but it’s very sluggish and slow to perform and follow tracking. In fact it’s rather nauseating LOL

If you have a hard drive you can change it out for a solid state drive. This will increase speed and reliability.

No it has to be the same brand so you have to get a 16 kit with 2 8gb sticks.

Instead of disconnecting the battery wires, can't you just take the battery out completely (before you remove the back panel) to get the same effect?
