How to Upgrade Dell G3 RAM - Add RAM to Dell Laptop - Dell G3 3579

- How to add more RAM to your Dell G3 laptop. In this tutorial, I show you how to upgrade Dell G3 RAM. Adding more RAM to your Dell G3 laptop can help speed up your laptop when running several programs at the same time. RAM Upgrades on the Dell G3 can be to either 16GB or 32GB.
When choosing RAM for your Dell G3 Laptop it must be 260-Pin DDR4 SO-DIMM. Check out my recommendations below(Paid Links):

Find Maximum RAM Capacity of Your Computer: • How to Find Maximum RA...
Follow the steps below to upgrade the RAM in your Dell G3 Laptop:
1. Turn off your Dell G3 Laptop and ensure the charger is not plugged in.
2. Now flip the laptop over so the bottom is sitting up.
3. Unscrew all 10 of the screws on the bottom of the Dell G3 Laptop.
4. Gently remove the bottom panel from the Dell G3 Laptop.
5. With the bottom panel removed, disconnect the wire harness from the battery.
6. Start removing the original RAM by first unsnapping the clips on each side then tilting it up.
7. Gently install the new RAM and ensure it's snapped in.
8. Reinstall the bottom panel and gently tighten up all 10 screws.
9. Turn on the Dell G3 Laptop and ensure it boots up correctly.
10. You have now upgraded the RAM in your Dell G3 Laptop!

I cannot get the back come off, and feel like if I put too much force it might break it, did you have the same thing happen and it worked? Also I feel like i need some flat-headed screwdrivers to force it to create a gap and open it. Please help :)
@@joelp7665 Hey Joel sorry I found this so late, you probably got the back off already. But next time, simply go around and pry it off but by bit, if it seems like it won’t come off check the screws and see if they’re all out. It takes some force for sure, but I don’t advise sticking things under it, unless it’s something like a card (maybe)

Just a heads up for anyone wanting to try this! I just succeeded (thank you very much for the video, super helpful!) but when you are pulling back the tabs on the RAM slots the tabs themselves may actually come out! They’re kind of like little keys that lock the RAM stick in place.
Does it matter if I get 3200 MT/s or 2666 MT/s ram? Will 3200 MT/s work on the G3
@@AnDrE-xb2ce, check the activity monitor to see what speed of RAM is already in your machine. My G3 came stock with a single stick of 8GB RAM running 2666Mhz - my work was adding an additional stick to double the available RAM. It's best to start with RAM running at the same speed. Also, a Google search will yield the maximum capabilities of your machine. Keep in mind that if you are replacing a single stick of RAM, if you get a stick that has a different speed that what is already installed, the machine will default the speed to whatever stick is running the slowest clock speed. So if your machine is running a single stick at 2666Mhz, and you add an additional stick running at 3200Mhz, the RAM will run at 2666Mhz.

You Mentioned that the ram should have 260 pins. the link you provided for the same model CORSAIR Vengeance 32GB RAM - has 240 pins. so what's the correct number of pins?

thanks, i noticed 5GB of my ram was getting used constantly and i tried everything to lower it but nothing worked so i just decided on getting more ram and thanks to your tutorial i now know how to install it without breaking my laptop.

Definitely, the hardest part was that crappy plastic frame. Mine wouldn't fit back. In fact, it didn't quite get perfectly - it is possible to see a little space. Damn plastic frame.

So the laptop (Dell G3 17 3579) has an ssd and an hdd, is it possible to replace the hdd with a second ssd?
Also, is it alright if for example there are two sticks of 8 gb ram but they're from different manufacturers? Like one's the one that came in the laptop and another is one by Crucial?

now I can finally play Warzone without lag spikes, and PUBG without mouse input lag. A lot of big battle royale games other than Fortnite need a lot of memory, and it doesn't help that PUBG and Warzone aren't optimized well.

If you have a hard drive you can change it out for a solid state drive. This will increase speed and reliability.

Can we upgrade the graphic card from gtx 1050 to gtx 1660 or rtx 2070...?? is that possible? also if we can increase the SSD size, like mine is 128gb it's tiny so I was thinking if upgrading to 512gb or 1tb would be better because most high graphic programs I run based on 3D-modelling I've to install them in another drive, so it affects the performance sometimes....like 3dsmax gets way too heavier if models are too complex.

Will this help with performance for games? Things like VRchat (Specifically the VR/Steam VR run versions). Because whenever I run things in VR, it does run, but it’s very sluggish and slow to perform and follow tracking. In fact it’s rather nauseating LOL

It depends on your current setup but I would recommend purchasing a pack of 2 ram cards. That will ensure you have no problems.
