ive got one with the same issue but does not have a HDD just the optical. tried with a different optical drive and still not working. tried copying your settings from from the screenshots i could get (more or less, ignoring the HDD specific issue) any thoughts or ideas on where to go from here?
I know it's a old video but I have a Megatouch Maxx and after it boots it says "please reset all dip switches to reboot the game". Where are the dip switches? Everything I've read says it's soft dip switches but how to I reset soft dips if the game won't reset?
Sorry just saw this. There is a bank of hard dips on the motherboard. I can’t remember for sure, but one sets it in an operator mode for updating. (Maybe switch 8??) Someone uploaded several Megatouch manuals for each model. You should be able to find it on Google. Let me know if you can’t. I have the info around here in a notebook somewhere. Lol
Just got my XL back up and running dude! Even cooler, compact flash with open software not needing the key anymore. It upgrades to titanium which is the last edition too. Let me know if you need a hook up!
There should be a microswitch that coins trigger. It could be broken. It looks like a Paperclip bent into an “L” shape around the bottom of the coin chute. Make sure it’s wires are connected also.
@@MattyMosArcade it's this megatouch I just picked up. It looks like it's a ca calle coin acceptor if that matters. Everything seems to be plugged in but I'm not getting credits when I drop quarters through it. Doesn't make any system noise like it's even seeing them.
@@MattyMosArcade so don't worry about it? Thought it might be a cap issue or something. Looks like the date code is 02/99 if I'm reading it right. Other than the boot scroll it seems to run pretty good. I haven't played with it too much though. Just got it.
@@thehorrorsociety I guess check it out and see if it plays. It may need to be recalibrated. There’s a button to get into the test menu behind the coin bucket, I believe. In that menu, you can calibrate it, set it to freeplay, etc.

Hey, (again) that keyboard port is known as a PS/2 port. You should never plug/unplug them with the machine running - the machine may sometimes just require a reboot, but has also been known to kill the motherboard in extreme cases. I'm really into these touch-screen games at the moment, got around 300 titles from UK machines :)
It was even labeled right in front of me lol. Did I plug it in with it on? As soon as I turn that camera on, I seem to throw care to the wind. I need to be more careful.
Have you checked for a manual? Someone posted several Megatouch manuals recently. It’s usually bad caps from heat damage though. I’ve fixed several by just cleaning the machine and replacing the fan. Reseat the RAM too. Sometimes that helps. Good luck!
Hey I have a couple questions about a Mega Touch maxx ruby edition I recently purchased that was advertised as having a bad hard drive, but now that I obtained a new drive with the correct ruby software, I get stuck on the “ok, booting kernel” screen. Any ideas? It seems you’re very knowledgeable about these
Couple things to check. Make sure the security key is correct for that hd. Make sure the IDE cable is plugged into the primary port, not the secondary. If everything is good. Hook the hd up to a pc to see what happens. If it boots to the improper key screen it’s good, mother board is bad. If it does not it’s bad. You can possibly run recovery discs on it if you have them.
@@MattyMosArcade I’ll try those, the security key is the SA3056-1 which matches the ruby software. If the motherboard was bad wouldn’t it not boot up at all even into bios?
@@MattyMosArcade nothing. I only hear that one beep when I turn it on. I have a new power supply in it and I reseated connectors and dimm. But nothing else is happening
@@MattyMosArcade yes the monitor has neck glow and when I shut it off it shows a quick white line.. There's one other VGA and the touch sensor is plugged into it
Amazing tutorial thank you .. gonna pick up a unit today ! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hi Matty, have you ever come across a blinking dash in the top left upon booting up? Thank you 🙏

Monitor plugged in on the inside?

Ah ok. Let me check my notes.
You can download the manual from Megatouch.com too. The name should come up on Google. The site just came back online recently.
Mine says “no input signal check cable” I cracked it open and the cable looks good, any advice ?
I have one that makes a loud noise when turned on, no screen doesn’t turn on, it was working fine the other day, any help? Thanks
Check the power supply

Where did u get software that doesn’t need the key?
Where did u get the software. I have no key
Where do you get the software to reload the unit
Do you have any videos on coin acceptor repair? Quarters are just dropping in the box but nothing is registered.
What kind of game?

I'm getting horizontal scrolling during boot but it clears up once the game/system is loaded up. Thoughts on what I should check?
That’s normal for most machines.

How do you set it up for free vend ? Do you need a keyboard or is there some secret way on the screen? Everything else works fine
There’s a button to access the menu behind the coin box. You can set it to freeplay there.

Is it possible to play or get running homebrew games or os without a key?
You could connect a Raspberry Pi to the monitor.

Did you send the email? I think I missed it.
Mine beeps once and the screen is black. Any suggestions??
Turn it on and wait a minute or so. Put some money in/coin it up. Does it make game sounds/ play blind? Also check the monitor for neckglow.

The beep means the motherboard is making it to post. It's probably ok. Is the monitor powering on? If so, I think there is a 2nd vga port you can try.
@@MattyMosArcade yes the monitor has neck glow and when I shut it off it shows a quick white line.. There's one other VGA and the touch sensor is plugged into it
I tried plugging in another monitor to it and nothing. I think maybe the board is bad but I don't think I would hear a beep
I have one but it won't load keeps saying Abort,Retry,Fail? Do you know how to fix this issue?
New hard drive possibly
