The cellist has no excuse: he has technique but nothing musical to offer, new or otherwise. I can hear the 'accepted' sluggish, lugubrious 'chewing' of notes (caused when the articulation precedes the late and settled arrival at the correct position, which gives every note an 'almost' inaudible micro-glissandi) that precedes every note played, and that trombonists too eagerly and too soon 'accept' as being obligated to performance on trombone. Its not! That's why trombonists haven't yet achieved solvency as soloists! In pursuit of simple embouchure virtuosity, their bar for making music makes too many excuses to mechanical technique because it is yet to be modelled for them by a generation of trombonists. As such you can never forget you are listening to an instrument that struggles to get from one note to the next. That's why composers didn't and still don't write for them. Here however are videos of two rare trombonists who 'do' succeed in making you forget how...awkward, and yes...deficient the trombone's mechanics reliably prove to be in the hands of most trombonists. As such, they are therefore amongst the few trombonists that a non-trombonist might endure and actually enjoy listening to. th-cam.com/video/0TrgtuSglLc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Nw4jtkSR9pvfHwW2 th-cam.com/video/GimI1xoV_ys/w-d-xo.htmlsi=NPbFyeveUbdcOZCK
¿Corriges a un trombonista profesional a nivel mundial? Si fuera un recital sería un poco distinto, pero como es un concierto que él hace, puede hacerlo como quiera xd
Since this is played by the same person with the same musicality this proves that trombone is a much harder instrument to play than cello ;) I say this because I know Fabrice is a world class trombonist, so this comment is not meant to demean him. Just a reflection, what do you make out of this?
Interesting opinion dude. I hope you understand that my comment want 100% serious. In case you didn’t get that subtlety maybe you can can elaborate what you actually meant? And btw, not sure what you playing trumpet has anything to do with this, trombone has other difficulties that trumpet doesn’t have. From a professional trombone and brass player, conductor and composer ;)
@@grandertit was written with cello physics in mind-the open strings, the bowing, the positions..what one can play by just changing the strings on a cello, let's say the first phrase- takes three different apertures on a trombone and eight movements of the slide,so,go figure)
@@blev866yes I know because I play this in on trombone. In your example, the first phrase is actually similar since most of the notes are played on 4th position on the trombone over the natural harmonins series. But legato is one of the hardest things you can do on a trombone. On cello you still have to move the bow to change string right? Similar to the change of aperture. Can you name one piece of music that would sound more musical on trombone than cello if he were playing it side by side?
Why do all the trombonists get mad at this comment. It was a feedback to the preformer, I dont think it was meant to say cello is a better instrument than trombone, nor to roast trombones or anything.
@@ItsMe-ic5oc When the performer is recognized as one of the best trombonist worldwide, the feedback is not really necessary. Unless your are one of his pears.
what a bloody legend. doing cello and trombone. and is good at both instruments. such a legend
he is not just good ;)
good is not enough for winning ard 1st prize
Bravo Fabrice et meilleurs vœux.........
I will attempt this on a straight tenor trombone, not sure about the low range, but will try
Unique et magnifique Bravo Fabrice

Glory to God alone. Bach
What trombone does he use in this video?
Dear Logan, I play the Trombone Legend of Antoine Courtois Paris, Silver Bell, Hagmann Valve and Standard Slide. Best wishes!
@@onlinetrombonemasterclassb4717 Thanks for the responds. Best wishes to you as well
Your mom.
High Ground Productions HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAH
Beautiful, but I'd love to see more of a duet.
You do realize it is the same guy playing both instruments...
@@cregkly5444 I do. Hence wishing it was a duet makes sense.
Je me demande vous avez commencé par quel instrument ?
Par le violoncelle
I personally liked the cello more
🇧🇷🇧🇷
Trombone won this on
anyone have a music to the trombone part
it’s the same as the cello part. Look up the prelude itself and just play it.
Just lose the bowing)..

Necesita aprender a utilizar mejor el aire, una técnica de respiración circular serviría bien para esta pieza.

It just shows that the piece was written for the cello, dude.
From someone who plays both the cello and the trumpet.

The playing in trombone was exceptional, but lacking feeling. I enjoy the cello, but not the trombone.
Sergio Joel Leiva Benegas the trombone was played better than the cello
Cello lacked feeling
It's a piece composed for strings. We gotta give trombone some credit.
