My Grandpa who was at the Storming of Normandy broke down in tears in a panic attack while watching the opening of Saving Private Ryan. He stated for the first time (to my knowledge) what serving duringWW2 was actually like.We rented the movie to watch after dinner one Friday night. I felt like a shit heel. My father lost his leg in WWII. There's an extra in the scene from Saving Private Ryan that has his leg blown off in that opening montage. He's just an actor portraying a very small moment of an incredibly realistic, brutal scene, but when I saw it in the theater I just lost it. It was hard to stop crying to watch the rest of the film. It's such a painfully realistic portrayal of brutality that leads up to probably one of the finest last bits of dialogue in film. I've never watched it again, don't think I can, but it's an amazing film.

They only built one half of the Titanic replica for outdoor shots. Since it was the starboard side, the docking in Dublin was incorrect as it docked on the port side.
To fix the problem they filmed everything and the images were flipped. Which means any words had to be spelled backwards, actors switched sides and costumes were altered, so it looked normal.
Everytime the painstaking went through the shoot, they had to redo it if something was wrong or unnatural after watching the flipped footage.

I was expecting Kubrick's 2001 jogging more than 360 degrees around the deck on the Discovery. He had to build the whole thing and then rotate it during filming.

Love WatchMojo but I hate to break the news, that Spider-Man scene did not take 156 takes. It took “multiple” takes but not even close to 156. The special effects supervisor said in commentary on that scene “here’s take 156” or something like that as a joke to show that it was a hard scene to get right. They had magnets and glue to make sure the props stuck to the tray easier.

Similar to the transformer wing suit stunt the 2015 point break movie has a rather epic wing suit scene that was filmed with stuntmen rather than cgi.
