    Great demo. Awesome attention to detail (adjusting the knobs, not playing too fast so you can hear the tone, plus band setting).

    What's amazing is how well you play it yes but also how you understand the relationship between Page and Beck better through the solo. That Yardbirds feel for sure.

    Great demo man! I just got the pedal last night - can't stop playing! Pretty much disconnected my entire board and have just been going straight into this and into my '64 Deluxe Reverb. Tone heaven for real.

    Amazing demo. I've never been convinced Page's fuzz tones on Zep 1 were the MK2, you're really nailing those tones w this 1.5 🤟

    What amp and wah? Settings for all?

    • @emersonswinford8949

      Hi. It's a '76 Princeton reverb. You can see a pic at about 10 secs into video. I was running it soft at 3 vol, Treb 7, Bass 3, tiny bit of verb....but most of the big reverb is from pro tools to try and match what Page had on the original tune. Fulltone Deluxe wah on Jimi setting. Thanks

    Which one do you prefer, this or the BART sunface?

    • @emersonswinford8949
      @emersonswinford8949  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Tough call. In some ways this is even more raw and vintage sounding. It’s close to a fuzz face tonally but if you use humbuckers might be a bit more friendly, more top end. If you’re more a strat guy then the BART is pretty stellar. I switch them out on my board depending on the gig/session

    Hey Emerson, quick follow up question, what mic or mics are you using for your guitar cab? Thanks!

    • @emersonswinford8949
      @emersonswinford8949  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jimmy, I used a sennheisser e906 for this, great mic and not too expensive

      Hi Laurent. It's a July 66 neck date. Somebody did the humbuckers route and then filled the route back in, it's a refin. Cool guitar.

    Sounds great Emerson! I mean not just the pedal but the whole recording. I just picked up a club 40 two months ago and I am loving it. Great cleans and nice pedal platform. I have been trying to get this LZI sound for a long time so please pardon my questions. I will be picking up this tonebender clone (I already have his red dot sun face which is great). I'm in the market for some analog recording gear (I use the UAD plugins now) and I was wondering what you are using on the front end in terms of pramps/comp/eq? I noticed you had a Chandler germ and I was curious what you thought of it and what you are using now. I was also curious what wah and delay you used for this as it really nailed the sound. BTW, i might have to look into a Princeton. Sorry for all the questions. You really nailed this tone. Congrats!

      Hi Jimmy. I have an EMI Chandler REDD 47 mic pre, it's great but for 1/3 the price if you can find a TAB V78M used (no longer made) they sound very close. All tube. No compression or EQ on the guitars but I used UAD stuff. UAD reverb on this to emulate Page's reverb soaked original. I like the Chandler comp but usually only use it slightly and sometimes not at all. I try to get the tone all there from the gtr, amp, mic, mic pre, and then minimal plug ins, if any. Fulltone Wah, no delay.
      Princetons are cool and I wanted to use it because I always use the Germino stuff and thought the Fender was more common. You should be able to get this tone with the mighty Club 40 though, maybe even better!?

      @@emersonswinford8949 Awesome! Thanks for the reply. I will have to check out that pre you recommended. Did you ever use the Chandler Germanium pre?. And I thought I saw one of the BAE pres in another video? I ordered the Sunbender from Mike and it should be here in a week or so. I have a vintage Champ that I will try and use that instead of the Princeton and see if I get close to this LZ tone. I recently have been having an issue with the club 40 (running though the Germino 2x12 open back with G12Ms). The issue I never noticed before because I would usually run the amp on around 4-5 volume and then control the over all volume with the fuzz pedal or guitar volume. But today I was doing some experiments and I was pushing both amp volumes at 8 and even with the bass rolled totally off and using single coils I would get wayyy too much bass on the bottom E and A strings. I am not sure if it has to do with the cab being open back and maybe too close to a wall. I am going to try moving the amp into a bigger room and see what I get. Have you ever had this issue with this amp when running loud? This is the first Ive tried the early plexi bass spec....

      JimmyDevere hey Jimmy. Yeah I have and like the BAE too, never tried that chandler but heard it’s great. Something isn’t right w your C40, or somewhere there’s an issue. I’d call Greg, he’ll help you for sure. Check his website. Good luck.

      @@emersonswinford8949 Good morning Emerson! I just received my Sunbender yesterday so I've only been able to play it for short time, but right away the thing that pops out the most is the sustain and compression of this pedal. Also I find it seems to nail the Stones' Satisfaction fuzz tone when rolled off.
      I emailed Greg and he just had my amp in his shop for service two months ago so he thinks it just EQ ing. It seems to be the nature of this bass spec amp. If you are using the master volume or getting dirt from pedals I find the bass is controllable. But when maxed out open I get way too much bass even with the bass at zero. I'm running an open-back Germino 2x12 with Greenbacks. I noticed in your descriptions you have a variety of speakers (weber alnico and ceramic). I may try something else. The solution for me is the treble booster. I can see why they were the secret weapon back in those days. Take care!
