Tim's quality control was incredibly high - there are literally dozens of tracks as exhilarating as Big Ship. There are no duff tracks - there is no filler. After you "get" Tim's music, everything else feels...trivial.

"All of the noise takes me to the outside where there's all
Creations joining in celebrating happiness and joy
All around the world, on land and in the sea
    (In the sea!)"
This is one just extra euphoric, ain't it?
So glad to see that you've been recommended more Cardiacs and Tim stuff aside from their most manic and chaotic songs and haven't fallen into the trap of thinking that's the band's only gimmick. There's so many more singularly unique songs too: Stoneage Dinosaurs, Come back Clammy Lammy, Fanny, No Bright Side, Ocean Shipwreck, Helen and Heaven, Swimming with the Snake. I could go on and on. Sing to God and Ocean Land World are probably the most diverse Tim Smith albums and a good way to finally submerse yourself fully in the pond. ;)

This is one of my favourite things to sing aloud while walking around on a sunny day.

"Lit with McDonalds' lighting" just refers to the harsh antiseptic lighting of every MacDonalds' restaurant everywhere on the planet.

Thank you. I love that first reaction to hearing the genius Big Ship, next is hearing it live. Was lucky enough to see it many times, but the maresnest video probably captures it best.

Welcome to the Pond.. Dominic Luckman drummed for cardiacs from early 80 till 1990ish. Dominic is a top class drummer.. so loud, he really hits his tubs.. Bob Leif joined the band on drums up until Tim's passing. Bob is also a.top class drummer, and also a great singer. Bob sang in a band called Ad Nauseam, is on TH-cam.

It seems likely that the LP 'LSD' which was due out in 2008 and was mooted to be a double album will see the light of day at some point. The record was mainly finished apart from Tim's vocals (though guide vocals exist) and some tracks due for inclusion, the opener 'Ditzy Scene' and closer 'Vermin Mangle' have been released. Both are excellent. Kavus, Jim and Bob from the final line-up have recently been pictured together a couple of times in social media, so something may be afoot!

You might enjoy the cover of this by mr Brown (that's the Belgian mr Brown, not the rapper - I think there's a Mr Brown rapper?). It's done on a "wonky piano" - needing a tuning - and yet somehow it manages to be its own kind of beautiful. th-cam.com/video/MjV0J0C-gsQ/w-d-xo.html
Cardiacs in "ecstatic mode" is something everyone needs in their life.
The art work on that cover might've been done by Sarah. (Just a guess). She's an artist, and I heard somewhere that recently she "became an RA" - which is an extremely big deal if it's so. (Royal Academy. If you're selected to exhibit for them, you're one of the top artists - by that measure, anyway - in the UK).

As far as whether there's anything Cardiacs left in this world, I suppose the short answer would be, "not all that much". I'll give you a link to one band that was inspired by Cardiacs, and that Tim liked (they have a picture of him at one of their shows, and another show on TH-cam opens with Cardiacs music, not their own): *Major Parkinson* - from Bergen, Norway.
I should probably spam you with a link to their beautiful crowdfunding song (called *Show Me the Money* ) for their new double album - in which Jon has promised to Make Music Great Again - but now I've told you about it I could just leave that (well more so) to your own discretion. Instead I'll give you a link to an "unplugged" version of their *Before the Helmets* that doesn't give you their normal sound, but does show off their music nicely, nonetheless. th-cam.com/video/bNjCuPgXmmw/w-d-xo.html
If you're thinking that a band that Tim loved must have something to commend it, I think you'd be right. A lot to commend.
