The one in blue can be called moonstar.. byul = star in korean. Her album is great.. the MV's are good, but the whole album is brilliant. Or you could look at the whole group. best introduction is their killing voice with perfect harmony. Its them singing a part of their title track songs (plus one b-side).
It would take a long essay it would take to explain all the traditional references in the lyrics and MV but rest assured they're all Korean rather than Japanese. I think it's worth doing some research if you're so inclined because with Chico Malo the more layers you peel open the better it gets. I'll answer a few of your questions and give you more info and opinions along the way. First off, this two-member subunit is called Mamamoo+. You mentioned this was only two of the four members of Mamamoo but not the name of the subunit (at least that I could hear with your volume set so low I could barely understand you) so I thought I should clarify that this is an official subunit. You're welcome to call her Moonstar but Moonbyul isn't that hard to say with a little help from your moomoo friends (Mamamoo fans are called moomoos) and a bit of practice. The challenge for us is byul since there's no English word like it. Byul means star, as Genera1007 mentioned. Try saying Yul as in the actor Yul Brynner and then mashing B into it without adding a vowel sound between the B and Y (it's simply B'yul rather than Bee-yul or Bye-yul). Repeat a few times and it gets easier. :) It was nice that you recognized the simple flexible stage set due to your film background. The low budget theatre conventions like using a frame for a mirror and stepladders for cherry trees put a smile on my face and warmed my ex-theatre nerd heart. The question is: Why did they film the MV this way? The answer has to include answers to other questions like Why did they start with the pansori singer & drummer delivering an aniri to introduce the song? (A pansori is a traditional songstory and an aniri is a narrative section of a pansori.) Why did they mix equal parts of traditional and contemporary in the song (both the music and the lyrics), in the costume and set design, in the multiple characters they play, and even in the acting styles they employ? I think one of their goals was to draw a connection between Pansori and Kpop as uniquely Korean forms of multi-disciplinary performance art. Imo Chico Malo was brilliantly conceived and executed by everyone involved and overall it's the best use of traditional elements I've seen and heard in a kpop song & MV. Hope you enjoy exploring Mamamoo as well as their solo and subunit endeavors. Mamamoo has an extremely diverse discography and can't be pinned down to any particular style or genre so if you're going to watch an MV or two from Moonbyul's new album it's worth noting that those songs represent just the tip of her personal iceberg, which gets exponentially larger as you add the other members and the full group. Have fun!

QJ ended up not using the song, named Mamamoo. It was suggested to turn song name into group name. The lyrics were translated to Korean and the song changed to Mr. Ambiguous and was the debut for Mamamoo. You guys should check it out, but make sure to watch on official Mamamoo channel so you get lyrics. Mind you, RBW was a brand new company and Mamamoo the first group. Company had very little money, for years the girls (women) did own makeup, wardrobe, choreo and all 4 have credits in song production and all that. In the debut mv you see a lot of cameos, as the CEO, called in favors from very well known friends and performers to give more exposure to the girls as the budget was very small. Purple Hawke has a very good, yet a bit outdated, guide, but you'll learn more about them. Mamamoo and EXO are my #1 groups because of the vocals and sound. Anyways. I have subbed and cannot wait to see more. Love y'alls commentary. Very unique at times.
