    Nice tip on the driver borderless setting. Thanks. And, when you went to Qimage, I noticed the rulers. I don’t see them on my computer, and I should have the latest version. Can you tell me where the ruler on/off switch is?

    Okay! I'm finally getting this. But what if I need to shrink an image? Would I just pick a different paper size. Or would I need to stretch it into the right detention of the paper I'm printing on? Just some guesses.

      Image "Space" is controlled by the CELL. To fill the cell you need an image cropped to those exact proportions or ZOOM to FILL.

      @@cheo1949 thank you so much for the tip. I've been creating my own graphic designs, but I couldn't size them properly. I found a program that will shrink the image into the detentions I need. What a God send, thank you! 💙

    I had similar issues setting my exact templates when I first started until, I too, changed the driver to borderless. The irony is that to get an even border around your image you have to select borderless, sounds crazy doesn't it? LOL I'd recommend once you are happy with your borders, create a new preset template in Lightroom's print module so you can just simply select that next time you want to print to the same dimensions 😉

    Hi Jose, how are you? I hace a canon pixma pro 10, and a macbook pro. All my prints come out with margins. The margin on the button is larger. In my settings, i choose no margins, but they come with margins anyway. In my print settings, where you see the preview of the image, I can see this margins, but I can change them. I would love to attach or send you a photo so you can see it.
    Thank you very much for reading this. You always helped me so much. I couldn't have come so far with my print without you tutorial videos haha. Thank you!

      The bottom margin is always wider as I showed unless you choose borderless in the pro10 driver then come back to LR and set all margins manually to equal amounts.

    Hi !! If I’m trying to print pictures that customers send me to put into ash trays, would this be the ideal technique to use to get those images smaller for me to print out and fit to the correct size of the ash tray?

    Jose thank so much for your printing content you Rock., just bought Pixma Pro-10 ready for software and watch your video on that.
    Got so tired of Fine Art Labs and BS goes with it or like I recall one of many videos I watch of yours saying Mega Bucks that is correct.
    Some Labs would not except my photos to print, oh because I did not have a Studio hmmm. After receiving 11x14 print from a Lab in
    Boston took 2 weeks, after looking at that garbage threw it trash cost me 45 dollars yikes. Talk hours on Labs but no need you helped
    me become my own Lab Thanks again. Who cares what Trolls have to say always watch your content you are Guru of printing.

    A couple of issues which you didn't point out. In LR (at least mine - Windows) when you change the paper size, before you can set a proper cell, you must exit the print module and re-enter for LR to accept the new paper size. I had a lot of trouble trying to set a cell size before I came across that fact. Second, in Canon drivers (at least for the 2000 and 10) if you are not using a "standard" size paper you cannot set borderless. It will not accept it. So, if you have to set a custom size, you can't do it this way. And finally, you could just set your margins manually. For example, for a 16" on 17" paper, your margin should be 0.5" on both sides. Then you don't have to go to borderless, but can work from the normal settings. And I don't use settings like expand to fit because I don't know what Canon is doing behind my back. If you make the original image the size you want, you shouldn't need to do so.

      @cheo1949  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Dale. I love using cells because can easily shift the cell location by adjusting the margins. I often will layout an image with "Old School" borders, equal to left and right and wider bottom one. Cells and merging adjustments make it super easy. I will play with your suggestions as well. There are always many ways to arrive at a needed result.

    • @daletaylor2433

      @@cheo1949 Thanks. I don't think you actually have to make an image the finished size if you just get LR to set the correct cell size. The only problem there is if you don't have an image which is exactly 2x3 or 4x5, etc. Then you may get a little extra crop, as it will fill the cell on the side which is closer to the designated size. And second, congratulations. You are the only other person I know who does the classic unequal matting. At a recent high end show, a friend told me he thought I cut my own mats. I couldn't figure out how he figured that. Then I looked around. Out of 80 some entries, mine were the only ones with a proper "gallery" matting.....

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not size but but pre cropped to needed ratio. That way you know straight up what you lose by cropping. You can always Zoom to Fill and sliced the image around cropping or revealing parts of the image. There are so many options here. I did this because a few people could not get why a 2:3 image would need cropping to be made to fill a 16x20 space inside 17x22 paper. Imagine that!!!

    I have learned so much from you over the last month, I can't tell you how much I appreciate you!! I am able to shoot RAW images of my paintings by now, adjust them accordingly in LR and/or PS....then I save them as tiff. I got myself the Pixma pro 100. Got the right paper, the colors come out correctly and I learned how to perfectly center the image onto the paper for printing [if I wanted to]. I also know how to crop them in the right ratio for the image I want to print. My question is following: If I have a picture that will be printed over and over in different aspect ratio sizes over time [5x7, 8x10, 11x14 for example]. I would have to take that original tiff file and crop it to each ratio and save each on its own. [For example: tree 5x7, tree 8x10, tree 11x14] I need to save it for each aspect ratio right? If you reprint a file many times, do you keep them as tiff or jpegs? Trying to figure out the best way to organize everything correctly and wondered if this is the way to do it right? I tried to see if someone else asked something similar before but I couldn't locate anything in the videos I have already watched.

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi, I just wanted to update you on what I found which you helped to address. It's much appreciated.
    I will be getting image sounds good.
    I found with the pro 100 I didn't have the options I was looking for. In school we used a Hugh end Eason one at each work station.
    So I was trying to get some options like I had there.
    Low and behold Epson does have those options in Lightroom and photoshop. But canon leaked it.
    Then after some searching I typed in pro 100 plugin for photoshop and Lightroom. They had a plugin.
    They should promote it. I used it. I nailed it what I saw on screen is what I got on print.
    It was better quality then I ever had on the epson.
    Any how I feel this pro 100 is better then the more expensive one I used at school.
    If I keep this up I might just have to get a pro 1000
    Any how here is the link for canon pro series printers.
    It even works for canons dpp
    Thanks for your help I hope this helps.

      So...is the image that dimension or ratio? If it's not when you click zoom to fill which I assume is what you mean, it has to enlarge it and of course crop the excess.

    I guess you are on a Windows machine. My Lightroom Page Set Up looks nothing like that on a Mac. And QImage is also totally different. I find the the Mac version almost unusable. A friend uses it on his old Windows machine and it's superb. In fact that's the only reason he keeps his Windows PC. Everything else he does on Mac.

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I am on windows. I don't know drivers settings have to be so different for either os. I left MAC over 15 years ago when I began to seriously explore digital photo printing on over 20 different printer models. Companies were not producing a reliable MAC drivers then. No offence intended but my day is filled with questions from folks experiencing truly odd problems with printing, color management or sudden changes after an update and many others. Most of these problems I've not even heard of nor experienced before. Guess what the commonality was? They all were on a MAC. Many folk are also used to just pluging in a device and letting the OS load the correct driver. They accidentally end up with the Air Print Generic driver. Which of course would useless. That should not be the case. According to Andrew, the programmer, the UI Qimage One for Mac is supposed to be almost identical except for certain MAC specific settings. All I am saying is that setting drivers for color managed photo printing should be identical for both OSs. Or at least a compromise between the two.

      This subject was actually asked by a few folks who begged that I do a video on it. Maybe it's too easy for you but not for the ones who actually needed to see how to do it. You mean you knew about the odd minimum margin defaults that actually don't allow the image to be located perfectly centered unless you set the driver to borderless? I don't think many even know about this. Oh well.
