- Join Chase from On the Table Gaming as he takes a look at the cards and sculpts from the Mother of Dragons expansion for ASOIAF TMG revealed at GenCon 2020.
What do you think might be the abilities of the other two dragons or for Danerys Targaryen's remaining tactics cards?

What do you think Rhaegal and Viserion's attacks might be? What could Daenerys' Dragon Flight or Flesh Made Fire tactics cards do?
DRACARYS
Maybe they buff a friendly unit instead of applying Panicked
Great video! I'm impressed by the paint job you did. I hope this set comes back in stocks soon. It's not available anywhere right now.
I hope so too!
So hyped for this box.
This was the dream since the Kickstarter!
Dragon's Flight I could imagine kind of Ride-By-Attack action as breathing fire as fliying over enemy formations is a common, cool scene in the book, series and every fantasy themed dragon content ;)
Nice work on those fire transitions! Unless they’re all nearly identical, I feel like Drogon will be 8 points and the other two will be slightly inferior for 7 points each.
Gimme my dragons!!! Nice edits chase! Can’t wait for them to be out
I want to see you flying them in a battle!
On the Table Gaming deal! Hopefully I’ll get some early sneak peeks. Hehehehe
Love the Minis!
Any body have tactics to counter the dragons? My friend has them and I’m not sure how to counter
I’m new to this hobby what should I start with any ideas
I'd suggest picking the faction that looks the most interesting to you visually! You'll be seeing a lot of them on the table!
Could imagine you can only play the Dragons with Daenerys as Commander. So as she will be a field commander and needs to be implemented into an infantry unit (no Screamers) and supposing that the costs per dragon will not be too low and that the points of (cheap) neutral units cannot exceed 20 initially there will be very limited options to play the dragons at 40Points I assume and approve... But finally - DRAGONS :)
So epic! The dragons are so great!
Any thoughts on abilities?
Cost and power wise they just leave enemies in the dust. These dragons are OP as hell.
I will take the iron throne. With fire and blood I will take it. This video was great chase looking forward to kore content
When you take the Iron Throne do you..... *spoiler*
Melt it? 😂
@@OntheTableGaming everything they've built, will FALL. and in the ashes of their throne, we will build, a better one
Do you think this mother of dragons box bumps a potential targ hero box 2? I really hope quaithe gets added to her army
I'm thinking this IS the Targ Hero box 2!
dove si trova questo set?
My guess for the cards is dragon flight will give a dragon unit a free march action at the start of a round or turn & Fire made Flesh will be a healing card for a dragon.
I wonder if the dragons will be different points due to different strengths
Ohh, I hadn’t thought about the dragons being different points. Another idea I saw someone mention, what if it’s a FF raider style situation where you HAVE to play all three for X price?
@@OntheTableGaming I'm sure Michael said that you can run individual dragons and even without Dany in your army.
also, I swear I wrote that comment before watching the video
What about unsullied spear men
Do we have any idea on a release date? I better start scouring the world for Targ boxes now, since they seem impossible to get.
Not yet, but now that it is revealed... at least we know it is coming!
@@OntheTableGaming that's true, Targs really seems like an elite army, and adding Dragons will only keep that going. It's funny given Jon Snow heads the Nightswatch, another Elite army.
Very cool! and I don't even play the game >.<
Would love to see what the Ironborn get!
You don't play the game...yet =P
@@OntheTableGaming yet 😊😉
So Commander Danaerys will be a field Commander as Dracarys says: "When Daenerys' UNIT activates:", means as well "DRACARYS!" can be hardcountered by destroying Daenerys' unit before you get "DRCARYS!" into your hand (afterwards it will be a dead card) but what if you already hold it and the dragon is near to protect her... sounds very promising and fun :)
The depth and counter-play options in ASOIAF TMG always impresses me!
@@OntheTableGaming Are the dragons not too overpowered for their own good ?
Junvinielle dragons? Pretty certain that's a hint
Right?! I'm so excited for what comes down the line!
The card's name is "Fire Made Flesh" (not "Flesh made Fire") and refers to the quote from the books and the Dragons' powers as they are born and powered by the fire/flame. Can imagine a more defensive card, maybe healing the Dragons or even Daeneris' Unit as she was touched by the flame as well...
Now that the cards have been spoiled, how do we kill dragons? Facing them this week. Thinking r'hllor and other high morale units to avoid panic damage after being burnt to a crisp. Or go Lannister poor fellows spam with TMTR and Xbowmen. Oi vay! tough calls!
Hide your fleet between two islands. 😉
@@OntheTableGaming Could do that or take poor fellows and a turncoat. Slaughtered all the beasts and their mother by turn 3
Who else has never played the game but just paints the miniatures?
You are certainly not alone!
Good preview, but from as little of the dragon rules that were revealed, it strongly suggests that the game designers are totally ignorant of real animal behavior so the rules accordingly, are unrealistic, fairytale rubbish. Just for starters, NO horse that ever lived would ever charge something like a huge living dragon.... unless their own army had very well trained dragons that would roam about the same enclosure with the horses until they overcame their natural fear of large and fearsome potential predator. In our own, real world history, this was the only way Roman cavalry could function near the Carthaginian elephants, and it was not until they captured some of Hannibal's elephants and penned them with their horses until they overcame their fears, that they ever could get anywhere near them. Of course the Dothraki cavalry would become use to the dragons an not panic after years of living near them with the dragons well trained enough to leave their own side's horses alone, but I'm afraid nobody in Westeros had their own, live, tame dragon to train their horses with. As for the dragon design, they do meet Martin's description of being the four limbed, "Wyvern" style which is more anatomically correct than D&D six limbed dragons, so no complaint there, but the designers failed again by not posing them in a way they would also look like they are flying, and could be removed from their "landed" stand, and put on a "flying stand". For people who want to have that option, I recommend buying the nicely painted , and partially articulated dragons made by McFarlane toys, and are just the right size and design to represent the dragons in the TV series, when Drogon flies Dany out of the fighting pit to safely. These are posed in both flying and landed positions, so both versions of all three dragons can be made up with new paint jobs for some of the figures. The flight stand put them about eight inches high, and there is a removable fire stream that comes with them..
Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment! There are certainly some things that have to be taken into consideration to make a balanced game with dragons, and unfortunately, things like horses not being afraid of the dragons have to be put aside to capture the magic of the setting! But, you could always try and home-brew some additional rules to your liking! What if horses had to take a "handling-check" (morale test) in order to be able to charge them or something?
@@OntheTableGaming Given this is a fantasy setting, I suppose you could have a wizard wave a wand and magically "charm" the horses into overcoming their natural instincts, or maybe get them drunk, which sometimes helps humans overcome fears as well. But realistically, you would need a tame, live dragon, amongst the horses for a time, and to fly over them often, for them to overcome their natural fear, as surely as we know from recorded history that the Romans couldn't use their horses near Hannibal's elephants until they obtained elephants of their own (and dragons are a lot scarier than elephants!). A morale check with a LOW probability of success would be better than nothing. There were reasons why a warlord would be willing to trade a single baby dragon for a well trained 6000 man army, or the ability to conquer all of Westeros with just three of them, in the GOT/ASOIAF lore. Given the smallish, juvenile size of the dragons in the game so far, they may still be fairly vulnerable, so their best use might actually be to stay out of missile range and simply terrify and negate the use of their enemy's cavalry. Another excellent tactic would be to keep the dragons inconspicuous as possible until the enemy's commander is located, and then take him out with a dragon diving in with its back to the Sun. In a campaign game, they would also play havoc with supplies, destroying bridges, and the side with the dragons would know their enemy's every movement.
The dragon sculpts look very ordinary to me. Ill be using the young dragons from wizkids which are much better sculpts
Dont like the dragon sculpts there are far better looking dragon sculpts around
