Love your batreps. I think this game is deceptive in that it is easy and fast to play but actually has quite some depth once you play it a couple times. Some important missed interactions: 1. Hear me Roar is just a modifier to a Panic Test, not an additional test. 2. Cavalry gets to make a free Maneuver when they activate. 3. The Guard Captain can be used against any Panic test. 4. You are not allowed to play cards on a disorderly charge (roll of 1 for charge range).
Totally agree about the tactics and depth. Twice now I thought I'd lost on turn two and by nifty card play an using the NCP board I got right back in it and won. Amazing game system.
This seems pretty good, but boy is it card heavy by the look of it. I wish there was more tactical play involving the units, especially units influencing nearby units to represent the ancient/medieval style war depicted in GoT.
Played several games and really enjoy it. The NCU and cards add an extra depth that is quite thematic. As others have pointed out, the cavalry get to do a free maneuver on activation and THEN do their regular move. They are quite fast and agile.
I'm a massive ASOAF obsessive so this is not an unbiased view but this is a great bat rep. Love the way you added the 3d terrain. This is how I will be playing this game when I get my kickstarter painted. Sorry the video ended on a bit of a downer but you sold me on it. The character interplay and the importance of the 'intrigue' board are soooooo cool. Hope you enjoy the game more as you get under the hood. Thanks again.
Maybe because I am not Wargame-Veteran: I love the combination of card play and tactical wargame. The game needs a 4X6-Table and 50Pts. to shine (from my little experience).
Coming from 40k, it's refreshing to touch back into warhammer fantasy style tactics and play. I love the incorporation of the card abilities. It adds a lot of flavor vs the stereotypical combat/objective play
Cav have the same rule as the dire wolf does ash they get to make a free manouver when they activate so they can manouve then march or charge so they are much faster then your infantry
Also even when a unit takes no casualties from an attack they still count as having taken and passed the test for any abilities that proc from passing a panic test so at about 38 minutes in when your cav attacked jamie they should have taken a lannister suppremecy test which may have finished him off before he killed jamie
about the component heavy... actually I like it, it needs a large table (althrough the game is 4'x4') but you can see what the enemy does and what you see at all time without asking for a Codex or searching in a tablet through an army maker. Is so fun with the expansions, Tywin is a Beast and Eddard too
My issue is the table gets really messy and it makes it look more and more like a board game with miniatures, not a miniature wargame. There's not really that many statistics in the game that you can't memorize them.
I bought in by buying the Free Folk starter set. I never looked back. Only reason I gave this game 10/10 is because I couldn't give it 12. Just astounding how balanced it is. Most games we play go down to the wire. Really is a terrific rule set. Gets richer the more you play. If you've not bought in yet. Your nuts ! Don't miss it.
you forgot the free maneuver action for the cavalry (you mentioned it with Grey Wind, but forgot with the outriders). It's a big differentiating point between them and infantry
Yeah it's kind of hidden on the card after the bit about their additional wounds. I noticed it later. I doubt it would have changed much in this particular game. :)
I was rooting so much for you Ash, there is something that when you play underdog groups and you make them viable. Just crappy rolls ruined the day but the fight is not over ;D keep up the great work.
The Tyrell's supported Renly Baratheon so if the game takes place during the Clash of Kings they will likely be part of Renly' s forces. There were give groups fighting for the crown; Lannister, Stark, Renly Baratheon, Stannis Baratheon, and the Greyjoys. They have also already announced the Night's Watch and the Wildlings.
I think Tyrell has enough "size" and diversity to be their own house without merging. It is a great house after all, not a minor house. So Tyrell, Martel, Baratheon, Night's Watch, Free Folk, Dathraki, Greyjoys. Not sure about Targarians.
I know it's not going to be the "hit new game" with everyone, but I have to say I've really enjoyed my games with ASoIaF so far. I really like the tactics card system in play and while I know some people will disagree I think it's a great way to define a force's strengths without having to memorize a bunch of special unit rules and what not. I also didn't feel like the field was too cluttered with tokens, no more than any modern game these days.
I'm glad to hear this. There seems to be a generally good response from people who have played the game. I'm looking forward to getting it to the table.
Great report! watching my first game, I had the same reservations as the most comments I see. But having played 6+ games now I really like this game. (former WTC warmahordes player here) I like the quick games and the tacticsboard and cards. It forces you to understand your opponents army as well for counterplay. The argument that there are a lot of "gotcha's" I can understand at first sight. But this is not a game where you can just smash models against each other and rol dice. If you know you opponents deck you can anticipate. And allthough it's 20 something cards, all cards are double so not that many effects for a certain situation that can screw you over. Regarding the random charges: Since its objective based you are already in range of each other anyway, so most of the time it's only about rolling that one for disorderly. when you need to roll 4+, maybe not charge? Just my 2 cents!
In the scale of units and the constant back and forth gotcha card action I am reminded of SAGA but the GOT IP may add to the appeal. It will be interesting to see if the game is thriving in say a year.
Nice game. pretty terrain and board and also minis. i think one thing that people in the comments have not completely appreciated is the impact the terrain setup had on this game. On the one hand, you have the lannisters who have better defense and counter attack abilities. with mountain as a break through unit. the board is also set up with narrow chokes On the other hand you have the starks whose greatest strength is maneuverability. Quite apart from missing some important rules (cavalry, and it appears that orders were also neglected) and also choosing not to utilize grey wind as a flanker, the space doesnt allow for much maneuvering It should come as no surprise that the lannisters are able to hold the chokes and break through the stark line with the mountain in these conditions. I imagine that there may have been alternative strategies that could have helped the starks gain a better battlefield advantage. appreciating this will come with experience. In the games i have played, in a more open set up the starks have a strong advantage which forces a lannister player to go on the defensive. I would also add that the impact of terrain, positioning and maneuvering is a "wargame feature" which was not obviously showcased in this match. Something for people to consider before deciding that it is "too board gamey". Having said that, good batrep, well played lannister
Great video. A few mistakes but that’s to be expected for your first game. I think this game really comes into its own when you get some more units and heroes to choose from. The next two full factions are Night’s Watch and Free Folk, so look forward to giants.
the deck of neutral tactics come in the neutral heroes pack #1 and they can play full points neutral, actually the bolton counter very well the lannister cuz they have bad morale checks and bolton exploit when you fail a Panic test
Well I love your batreps Ash...and you guys seemed to have a fun tight game there for a while!!! You almost got me to reconsider the fact that I wasn't interested in purchasing this game! But all those PANIC tests OMG!!! N-E-Way, really curious to see more, especially once Neutrals hit & How NW will be/play different
When you roll the white D3, you don't halve it :) If you fail to make the charge the unit needs to make a Panic test, If a unit retreats, the other can make a pivot. so basically the same errors I made when I first played :) Great batrep, when's the next?
Thanks for another great Batt-rep. This games looks really interesting. Love the depth of tactics - Manoeuvring of units, manoeuvring off the battlefield by non-combatants. The flavour of the cards influenced by the house as a majority but also influenced by your choice of commander. Obviously a lot of bribery by Cercei Lannister, maybe a bit OP, maybe the panic test should be at -1, not -2? Robb didn't get much involved in the battle, even with his additional manoeuvring capability. I think tactically Grey Wind was wasted since he has this great ability to make units vulnerable when charging in the flank. The rolls you guys made were at both ends of extreme - snake-eyes and 2+1 for moral tests or otherwise 5's and 6's. So this makes for a skewed perspective. Overall a great report, great game, great potential. I think the game is WHFB simplified and takes 1/2 the time to play, but actually has more depth. I also like that only in extreme cases do individuals have direct combat impacts (the Mountain), but otherwise the heroes influence the units through tactics, not through brute force. This also enables the perception of each model representing 25-odd actual soldiers each. So a unit of 12 actually represents 300 soldiers and 4 horses are 100 cavalry. I'm definitely moving here rather than Age of Sigmar. This has so much more potential. I might start the game with some Free Folk and their Giants, coming out next with the Night's Watch. What I have seen of the quality of the miniatures, I am very impressed. You guys didn't say much about the sculpts or the quality of the models. Thoughts? Will you do more reports for this game, with some variance, different scenarios, maybe replace Cercei with other options and different commanders to see how the tactics changes with changes in commanders?
At the moment all we have access to is Starter Sets, so that's what we'll be playing with. The models are quite nice for what they (pre assembled PVC) are the the detail level is great for these kinda of models. I also appreciate the decision to actually case bases and weapon arms in harder HIPs plastic so they aren't 'bendy' and actually hold a straight line. Very nice and a pleasure to paint (as I crushed out two halves of the Stark set in two weeks).
I was a backer from day one and from day one I was hoping the would change the panic tests. Seeing 7 guys just run away for literally no reason is so demoralizing. Such a bad rule imo. Otherwise a great game.
In addition to very bad rolls. If you look at the rolls in this game, they are not statistically even. It's almost like a demo game where they try to show the audience all potential options at maximum impact.
Not sure I like that there is a standard "opening strategy" each time. Sounds like an oversight if there is an obvious move each time. But I know very little about this miniature game so far.
It’s just a standard opening play for Cersei in Lannisters. She wants the Crown because a large number of Tactics cards improve with her holding it and she has an attachment ability that allows her to heavily penalize a combat unit when she forces the morale test.
@@GuerrillaMiniatureGames I guess that makes the most sense with lore since she fights so heavily for the crown (power). I assume the "Coin" also grants better bonuses to the Lannisters?
Soulreclaimer65 I was excited about this until I heard it was CMON. They have a habit of just abandoning games, this one will likely be dead in a year. Shame.
I know a lot of people in the comments really dig this game, but IP aside this doesn't do anything for me. Reminds me a bit of Runewars. This hybrid board game/miniatures genre is just meh IMHO. Pulls from both types and doesn't add anything exciting. I think it would have been better to either go straight board game or miniatures game. Not a fan of all the clutter either. I think the idea of having a wargame going on with a side board of politics is a really cool and has a lot of potential. I just wish it was executed better. Hopefully they'll figure it out by the time 2nd Edition comes around.
Don't tell the Rune Wars guys that! They tend to be big on the movement templates and maneuvering mistakes which take units effectively out of a match. :P I've played both, and I like ASoIaF..as my light game. It's kinda the Battlemasters to WHFB. I can see the price point scaring people off of expansions unless they're just looking for something cool to paint. The political sideboard is a nice addition IMO. Everything done on the board has an effect on the combat units and knowing when to maximize your abilities, or cut off your opponent's political move is fun. Honestly, one could buy the starter and the heroes pack of choice and get a lot of replay out of this even though it's light.
@@Anjohl The cards are a bit much. I like that there are added bonuses based on whom an army has as its commander, but I didn't like the constant use of cards.
I would say that the best part of this game seems to be the combo of intrigue and battle, but I cant help feeling that I would prefer it more ”boardgamey”, without proper miniatures as that would keep the price more in line with what the actual game does.
great job on this, man. Are you covering any more games of it on your channel? I'm in the 'I'm glad I didn't back this on kickstarter' camp at the minute and wouldn't mind watching more, just to get a feel
I love this game. I think its one of the best starter boxes going.. for any game. I felt like you two awesome fellows kinda blew through this game and seemed to be going through the motions a little bit. As the game fleshes out a bit more it will be amazing. Ive played several games of Adeptus titanicus this past week and found it boring and repetitive by comparison.. and i like it a great deal anyway. I was hoping you guys would like it. Perhaps you do but your comments at the end seemed like it was a garbage game. You got several rules wrong unfortunately which would have changed things. I also thought that the theme of this game is very important but you didn't touch on the theme of any of the cards or characters at all... its not a problem. But it does add so much to the game. Thanks for the video tho all the same.
I don't know if that's entirely fair, but I see your point. GMG is on a grueling schedule at times, but you can see by their painting and terrain that they do care about playing these games to the fullest.
@@cptamerica011 my comment is not meant to unfair to anyone. I watch almost all GMGs videos. But the speed at which the game play was done on this video threw me off. I don't have a problem with anyone not liking anything at all. I have been wargaming for the same amount of time as Ash and played as many games (maybe). I have a young family also and now that I'm close to 40 I find my tastes in games changing. I WANT a game to only last a few hours at most now. The panic tests taking away models and then being healed right back only to be taken away again one right after the other was an odd sequence that i have yet to replicate in any of the games of ASoIaF ive played. But the sheer speed at which it went left me thinking that they were just going though the motions.. "yeah yeah let get on to the next one". By comparison Ashs gameplay of Gaslands and that other indy game (made by a local fellow) was much more descriptive and slower paced allowing me to follow along with the game and the narrative of what the game was trying to accomplish. I loved every minute of it. This game was super fast. Even the discussion at the end was not really a review. More of like a "what i had an issue with" segment. Even the pacing of their talking seemed to say they were rushing thorough it. It was hard to follow due to the speed. Its nothing personal I like both their channels and watch regularly. But the heart of this game in my opinion is the flavour of the units and the narrative of the tactics board.. none of which seemed to be on display. For an example I re watched both their videos on Adeptus titanicus and that game is all rolling dice... over and over.. hardly moving at all. Very basic game. But they played it at a slower pace. I then watched BoLS video on the same game and it was just as good but the players were very descriptive of what was happening all the time.. on every roll. It was the same game but much more exciting to watch.. tense and descriptive. What im trying to say is that if your not into something.. or you have a predisposition to something its going to come across no matter what. It seemed like that to me. Review a game because I should, but i know I'm not really a fan right now so i probably won't be even after I play it. If Ash and Owen are thinking that its perfectly fine with me.. its just my opinion that people should give it a chance. That's all. I wasn't trying to be unfair to anyone :)
To be honest, I have wanted a tabletop game set in the GoT/ASoIaF IP, since I started watching the show. However, although I love tabletop games, I often find when it comes to card games, I lose cards over time and that could be crippling in a game. The alterations that I would make would be to have a small book for each of the armies (like a codex) with rules for the units and the leaders. Get rid of all the cards, but keep the bit where you put Sansa, Cersei etc as that mechanic is pretty nice. Have the cards instead as a page or two in the small book, for each army to stop you from losing them. The models look really good (though I’d rather avoid painting faces) and I think this game has a crap tonne of potential. Where do you buy the starter set?? The CMON webpage didn’t have it on for me.
BaronvonDrew It was supposed to be out Friday (hence why I timed the video for this week!) but now appears to be delayed. CMON was nice enough to send it along for us to check out. :)
@guerrilla Miniature Games, I'm late to the party with this, but has the janky stuff from the Lannisters been removed/altered yet? It just seems a bit much for Cersei to set off a leadership bomb first activation haha
I've been waiting to paint my starter set, can't decide if I want to give them the detail that I usually put into my AoS and 40k models, of if I should go more basic with just base coats, washes, and sketch highlights. How did you paint up your set? Any close ups or tips/tutorials? Looking good!
Close ups should be on Instragram and Facebook. I did all the grey and brown bases and basic highlights with my Airbrush and then splashed on details and washes afterwards. :)
Great batrep - but this seems like one of those games that will come and go. I know CMON builds hype for their games via the miniatures, but it seems like this game would work better at an epic scale. Seeing a tray of 4 horses which keeps replenishing its dead horse over and over looks odd.
It's called reinforcements. If you read the cards that actually replenish, you see the different influences in more detail. I agree with the epic scale, because it has these simple rules that can be applied to any variations. I assume each model represents 25 actual model - Mountain that rides is with his 24 sadistic friends and bodyguard, Grey Wind has a wolf pack that he leads, and the rest are regular units and with some elite units. So 3 full units with a cavalry unit actually represent 1000 men. With a 50 point list you can easily get to 2000 men on the field.
The Influence board seemed kinda...undercooked. I thought there'd be some kind of back and forth battle for influence to get the resources needed to impact the actual battle. Instead it's picking which particular special power you want to trigger each activation. Do the Influence characters ever interact with each other in any meaningful way? I.e.: can someone try and murder one of the other Influence pieces? Assign them new lands in some far flung corner of he world and out of the way? Etc.
If you have characters like Varys and Little Finger you can influence the effects of others in different ways. For example you could jump on the Crown, but use the Manoeuvre influence instead, blocking off the crown from the other players. Great against Cercei.
I was a big surprised they couldn't kill each other tbh. This seemed like the kind of intrigue that would lead to assassination (like a clock that builds up maybe... exert too much influence and your opponents eventually work out a way to put you out of the way).
Yeah that would be cool, you set up your scheme and as it builds momentum you become more and more vulnerable to being asassinated/arrested/etc. and either you succeed in your scheme or get stoped. Permanently.
Would add some risk to the Intrigue board as opposed to it simply being a 'unstoppable Magic Phase' where influence just rains on the battlefield. Would certainly be in Theme as well. Ned for instance dies because he's not as good at Intrigue as he is on the Battlefield.
That was kind of what I thought it would be in the 'On the paint table' videos leading up to this when you mentioned Intrigue characters. Feels like a bit of a missed opportunity for adding something really unique and thematic to the game.
It’s okay. Very new so time will tell. I have a hard time with these ‘in between’ board and tabletop games as I get pulled out of the action when the board gets too littered with stuff.
Thanks for your opinion. I don't like how the trays get empty and they stay the same size. I didn't backed the game because i didn't liked those tray's. And i'm more of a boardgamer then a wargamer.
I imagine when a tight packed unit of 12 models, each model actually representing 25 soldiers (in my imagination, not officially), these units get to expand somewhat when units are wounded, slain or run in fear. So the tray is still a representation of the unit, and the model count is a representation of the health of the unit.
Lone Pathfinder I mention that a bit in the end. The trays feel a bit like Command Centre pieces on a strategic map more than 1-1 representations. :) one stand could be 1000 for instance etc
They’ve released Starks, Lannister’s, Neutrals (Bolton’s) and Night’s Watch so far. Free Folk come out in January and March to July is new stuff on top of that. Starter sets are the best way to get started and all include great must-have figures for each faction.
This is a cool game and im very happy I pledged the kickstarter but the amount of cardplay is kind of a letdown, to me at least. I want the strategies and distinctions of armies to be present on the tabletop, not in a deck of cards. Love the NCU characters and the tactics board though! All in all a great fantasy game with rather simple rules and good pacing! Looking forward to playing it more but between Killteam and Titanicus I just dont know how im gonna find the time :D
is the gaming mat come with the game or is from your own collection? i just finished a bunch of sandstone colored terrain and that mat would be perfect.
It's cool to see people enjoying this game. I was really disappointed with it. I felt dragged out of the theme and logic of the game with all the cards and throne plays and weird things happening like random routes and healing??? What is the explanation for it? Feels over encumbered by the components and attempt to make mechanics around the IPs theme, spreading itself pretty thin when I think it should've focused on the miniature warfare of the IP, there's plenty of games to fill in the other themes of asoiaf. Thanks for the batrep and details on the after game report. Hopefully the game will reel in some players that weren't miniature gamers before and we can get them into the other games available.
Some of the card stuff is really abstract I agree, but without this extra layer it would be a simple medieval mass combat game. As Ash said you have no magic and all the troops are human with similar technology levels. Also all the great characters from the books who do not ever see the field of battle would have a very small role to play in the game. The FF board game contains a lot of similar elements but obviously without the cool miniatures. Is this just a vehicle for cool miniatures? Yeah it probably is but that doesn't make it a bad game. Sadly I don't think this game will be a gateway game because of the model count but you never know.
Not really; there's some movement impediment and some aura effects but nothing that severe. You can lose models to Corpse Piles tho if you fail a panic test being nearby. :)
@@GuerrillaMiniatureGames you take D3+1 wounds if you move through the stakes, they are then destroyed. The rulebook is FFG-level shit though so I'm not surprised you missed it.
Terrain rules are quite clear at the end of the book. I actually like how there are terrain affects that can be applied to different types of terrain. Such as "Block line of sight" is a terrain feature that can be applied to balustrades or dense forest. Other features that can be applied as desired include "Hinder movement", "Destructible", "Inspiring", "Elevated" etc. Each terrain element tends to have several of these features applied to them, depending on that it is. Can be used for other terrain as desired by the players.
Love the video, keep up the great work. ...though the game looks kinda terrible. Panic tests just removing a ton of models even before anything had actually happened in game and random charge ranges are terrible rules. The off game board seems to be way to powerful somehow. Most casualties just happened by spamming panic tests
You've got to look at it slightly differently. Imagine Cercei bribing guards before the battle to leave the field, or threatening to kill their loved ones. So they run away. Or on the one hand, they might join the other army as reinforcements because they will get better food and weapons. Stark army has better moral than Lannister, which is very thematic, as they are more loyal. So I think that using the imagination and reflecting on what happening the fictional universe of ASOIAF, this game matches perfectly what happens in the story. Panic tests are a way to represent the fluctuations of war and politics. Maybe they could have made for variations of the tests, but that is all in the descriptions and "Name" of the cards. So to keep it simple all such influences are through moral tests. Makes for a faster game.
The mix of boardgame and wargame just doesn't work. If this had been a straight up mass battle, line and file type wargame, based on the TV show it would have exploded in popularity. I expect this to be about as successful as Runewars was, i.e. disappear in 6 months.
I agree, I wish the formations and relative battlefield positions of the units mattered more. As is, the miniatures almost feel like tokens, and could easily be replaced with colored beads.
Great job on the batrep, but i feel that the battlelore version of GoT was a better system. It was just a board based wargame instead of some weird hybrid like this.
Interesting looking game, but the price point is through the roof. Never thought I'd see the day when something cost more than a GW boxed set and had LESS in the box! I'll buy it in a year after it's hit the bargain bin...
Seems extremely unbalanced and the panicking is a bit lame constantly killing people without combat......shame cus it looks cool but lack of balance and lame mechanics kinda kill ot for me. Ima just collect the minis
Great job as ever on the batrep, but man this game seems...bad. Random charge lengths were a terrible idea when GW did it and it's equally terrible here. Also, with the huge effect of the off board game I can see this game being a nightmare to keep balanced. It appears the designers knew how to make a back and forth strategy board game, but haven't caught up with the times on streamlined combat resolution in modern miniature game design.
What do you mean by "modern mini game design"? The designers are actually pretty experienced and wanted this simple combat resolution and heavy panic influence on the battlefield. You can say you don't like it, but I wouldn't assume they didn't want to achieve what they did. ;)
The actual combat mechanics, with the random charges and 2d6 morale check is reminiscent of WHFB, whose mechanics are simply dated. This is from the company who brought us Wrath of Kings which is one of the cleanest (if not the cleanest) fantasy skirmish systems out there, so surely they could have sped up combat resolution even on a rank n flank game. For the off-board mechanics, I think SAGA would be another really good system to look at for ideas. Just a couple thoughts off the top of my head for a hybrid game of this type.
I think the actual question should be; What is the target market this game was designed to sell to? CMON is a board game business (a lot of which use miniatures) but there's a difference between a board game played with miniatures and a traditional miniature wargame... which is why folks will gravitate to one or the other. When they 'aim' game design at a market that influences what they make a lot. Obviously tastes vary and I guess that the point of discussion. :) The design credits of both the named Authors are primarily in the board game world, not the miniature wargaming world (which is fine) and I guess that is why this game straddles both worlds a bit more than normal.
I like the discussion a lot. CMON is really interesting because they have games like Rising Sun which is a brilliant board game and Wrath of Kings which I mentioned above. I love both of those games for what they are and I think it might be very interesting to use ideas from both to make a hybrid. Rising Sun is a brilliant game with great minis, but as primarily a minis gamer I feel like the actual pieces are under-utilized as they are area control resources. Would be cool to get a bit more "wargamey" with something like that.
This is too much like old warhammer. The blocks stand in front of eachother, and dice are rolled until one of the blocks are gone. Not very interesting gameplay.
I just realized the only thing separating me from absolute financial ruin is the fact nobody has made a Wheel of Time miniature game yet
Wheel of time is sadly not popular enough
yet*
@@azarishere6442 its more popular than any of these games. It wouldn't be too hard to find an audience if its good.
Best battle report of this game up to date, very well edited so that's fast enough but not too fast to lose details of what's happening. Thanks!
Daniele Mazzoni I’ve been waiting forever for a batrep that is fast paced, entertaining, and shows all movement, dice rolls, etc.
Thanks gents!
Play this with a buddy of mine, and have a great time. Can't wait for more expansions.
Love your batreps. I think this game is deceptive in that it is easy and fast to play but actually has quite some depth once you play it a couple times. Some important missed interactions:
Dont you have to be full on top of obj to hold it as well?
This seems pretty good, but boy is it card heavy by the look of it. I wish there was more tactical play involving the units, especially units influencing nearby units to represent the ancient/medieval style war depicted in GoT.
Played several games and really enjoy it. The NCU and cards add an extra depth that is quite thematic.
As others have pointed out, the cavalry get to do a free maneuver on activation and THEN do their regular move. They are quite fast and agile.
The neutral character pack has the neutral deck. Also bran has summer and skin changes. Also the Bolton’s are crazy good as an army.
Agreed. The Bolton's are pretty tough to play.
I wish I knew people into this stuff to play with...
This is a super easy one to get new people into, much simpler than the big ones like warhammer
Honestly man most of my friends are “to cool” for shit like this and its really a bummer, perhaps we need better friends
@@notoriousghoul1888 Get married and force your wife to play it, that's the only solution.
This was as informative as hell! I saw this at my FLGS set up the other day. Impressed by the speed at which you learn games. No idea how you do it.
We finish 2X 40pt games in an evening. Which is mental really for a rank an file system. Crazy good fun.
Lannisters definitely need the buff. :)
about the component heavy... actually I like it, it needs a large table (althrough the game is 4'x4') but you can see what the enemy does and what you see at all time without asking for a Codex or searching in a tablet through an army maker.
Is so fun with the expansions, Tywin is a Beast and Eddard too
My issue is the table gets really messy and it makes it look more and more like a board game with miniatures, not a miniature wargame. There's not really that many statistics in the game that you can't memorize them.
Nice video guys. I Kickstarted this with all the extra units. Loving the whole game design and minis so far.
Decided to do a rematch of all of these whilst painting. These starks are just gorgeous
25:00 THE FREAKING MOUNTAIN... IS EATING THE STARKS ALIVE!!!
Looking great so far!
Cant wait to see more of the armies (Martell and Baratheon) myself.
Great painjob, great gameplay, good to see it in action on youtube.
(former WTC warmahordes player here)
I like the quick games and the tacticsboard and cards.
Regarding the random charges:
Since its objective based you are already in range of each other anyway, so most of the time it's only about rolling that one for disorderly. when you need to roll 4+, maybe not charge?
Just my 2 cents!
In the scale of units and the constant back and forth gotcha card action I am reminded of SAGA but the GOT IP may add to the appeal.
It will be interesting to see if the game is thriving in say a year.
That will be the test!
Nice game. pretty terrain and board and also minis.
i think one thing that people in the comments have not completely appreciated is the impact the terrain setup had on this game.
On the one hand, you have the lannisters who have better defense and counter attack abilities. with mountain as a break through unit. the board is also set up with narrow chokes
On the other hand you have the starks whose greatest strength is maneuverability. Quite apart from missing some important rules (cavalry, and it appears that orders were also neglected) and also choosing not to utilize grey wind as a flanker, the space doesnt allow for much maneuvering
It should come as no surprise that the lannisters are able to hold the chokes and break through the stark line with the mountain in these conditions.
Its settled, I'm ordering this for Christmas!
the deck of neutral tactics come in the neutral heroes pack #1 and they can play full points neutral, actually the bolton counter very well the lannister cuz they have bad morale checks and bolton exploit when you fail a Panic test
That's good news! Although 'Neutrals' isn't a very good army name. lol
like "mercs" in Warmahordes
You and Blitzminis are doing great stuff on this
Thank you for this ONE! YOU MAKE THE BEST VIDEOS!
Hello in any turn your need tou use all your unist and NCU, or in the nex round you can use the unit your one?
At the start, I thought it was Chandler Bing for some reason :) fun video and helped me understand the game, plus great looking minis.
In Like the Week of Licensed IP Games is finally here!
All cav. get a free manoeuvre. You could have moved 18" with your outriders in the first turn (free manoeuvre + march).
Gods I might be buying models from this simply for the sake of collecting. Though as of yet I do not know. Great video.
@14:52 why did you lose 7 halberdiers? Shouldn't it have been 5? (7 - 2)
I love this game
Love this game, so much fun to play
Did you guys remember to skip claiming on the first round? I don't think anyone would have won by turn 3 if you do that right. Good batrep!
When you roll the white D3, you don't halve it :) If you fail to make the charge the unit needs to make a Panic test, If a unit retreats, the other can make a pivot. so basically the same errors I made when I first played :) Great batrep, when's the next?
When someone comes in to play!
Be coming round the mountain when we come ......
It’s the Greyjoy’s of the iron island as the 5th army
Well you can technically say there are already 5 factions in existance and Baratheon will be the sixth.
Interesting to see what they do with Grey joys. They were not great in the films. Let's be honest. Maybe better in the books. Not read them.
This game looks better to paint then play tbh . Painting the units seems way more fun !
great report guy i hope you do alot more on this new game
Cavalry get a free maneuver when they activate!!
The cavalry has a free manovring when you active it
There once was a game - Wrath of Kings, , CMON is an out for me anytime now, but you rock with your Bat reps.
@@jeffersonjjohnson The political board is the most fascinating part for me, the relative weight cards play on the game is a turn off.
Will play more this week!
Ah cool, thanks dude.
Currently all the moral buffs are from attachments not in the starter.
Neat looking game!
Cuando sale en España 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Can you play this on 6x3 table or you need something bigger ? Really want to try the game, just concerned about how much table space i need.
Hi do you know if cmo will development new cards withe modidications after all faqs?
Awesome video !! Btw Where did you get this play mat from ?
@guerrilla Miniature Games, I'm late to the party with this, but has the janky stuff from the Lannisters been removed/altered yet? It just seems a bit much for Cersei to set off a leadership bomb first activation haha
Lots of new units available now make her way less Lopsided. This is a starter set game so some inevitable skew is going to happen. :)
Guerrilla Miniature Games is the starter still a good starting place?
Can you play on a 3 by 6 table for example? I just realised my table is not 4 foot wide... Don't really want to buy another table just for this game.
Not really, unless you deploy off table and move on later.
What do you think of the game itself comparing to what you normally play ?
Just found out about this game, does anyone know where I can get the models and or rule set? Also are they going to do more factions?
They’ve released Starks, Lannister’s, Neutrals (Bolton’s) and Night’s Watch so far. Free Folk come out in January and March to July is new stuff on top of that. Starter sets are the best way to get started and all include great must-have figures for each faction.
@@GuerrillaMiniatureGames Thank you :)
Hi! Great video. Where did you get those trees?
Gale Force 9
is the gaming mat come with the game or is from your own collection? i just finished a bunch of sandstone colored terrain and that mat would be perfect.
My own Collection. It’s a GameMat badlands mat IIRC.
thanks, going to order one today.
Can I buy the Umber Berserkers without the aSoIaF game somewhere?
Not right now, probably in the future!
how many times can 2 people say 360 degrees when I think they meant 180.
Y is there a penalty for deploying first. Surely that's already a disadvantage.
How big are those unit bases? Could be used for Kings of War if the size is right
Sadly the wrong size for KoW :)
Hey guys, who did the painting/basing of these?
I did?
@@GuerrillaMiniatureGames Awesome job. ANy tips for basing these? I'm just making amess, lol.
Sadly I don't think this game will be a gateway game because of the model count but you never know.
where did you get the terrain map from?
Gamemat.eu!
This game only uses d6s huh? Is that a drawback?
What battlefield mat are you using ?
GameMat Badlands!
eH.... I'll stick to 40K not a fan of rank in file games. Seems a bit meh to me. Cool minis though!
Does the game still have those dumb rules about terrain? Where you lose miniatures just by moving through certain types of terrain.
Not really; there's some movement impediment and some aura effects but nothing that severe. You can lose models to Corpse Piles tho if you fail a panic test being nearby. :)
OIC, I remember in their first presentation you could lose units by just pivoting over a specific terrain (like a fence).
Lol no nothing like that now
@@GuerrillaMiniatureGames you take D3+1 wounds if you move through the stakes, they are then destroyed.
Whoa, huge rule miss on the first turn, does not bode well
Typical of this channel
@@lonepathfinder5486 i get the idea behind it. Its still a terrible was to implement it Into gameplay
This comment didn't age well.
@@Bishop_blank yet to meet anybody that plays it, or been in a hobby shop that stocks it. It might have caught on somewhere but not around here.

Snooze level 12. Certainly interesting to see, but man, something about this hybrid design is not appealing. Minis look neat though.
Great job on the batrep, but i feel that the battlelore version of GoT was a better system. It was just a board based wargame instead of some weird hybrid like this.
lannisters are overpowered
Seems VERY unbalanced, I don`t think this is for me. Thanks for the video, great production and clear as always.
Interesting looking game, but the price point is through the roof. Never thought I'd see the day when something cost more than a GW boxed set and had LESS in the box! I'll buy it in a year after it's hit the bargain bin...
the mountian destroyed ur guys. jesus he nice. :P
19.30
Don't forget to BREEEAAAATHE! You sound winded, slow down, man! :D
Owen is not impressed.
( neither am I...feels too busy for the reward)
This is too much like old warhammer. The blocks stand in front of eachother, and dice are rolled until one of the blocks are gone. Not very interesting gameplay.
please slow down with the rules, you made several mistakes....On a side note this game is fantastic, I have only been able to play solo though.
