Please watch the prequel to this video if you haven't already before reading on further. th-cam.com/video/MRVIZIQJB_I/w-d-xo.html We wouldn't normally upload a new video within 24 hours of the previous one, but many of you have asked for updates on Roy and we don't want to prolong the agony any longer - we know what it's like and wouldn't wish it on anyone! We deserved and partly expected recriminations but you gave only love. We are overwhelmed by your kindness, and indeed interest in our humble and somewhat clumsy introduction to the world of vlogging. These videos were initially intended as a record for ourselves in years to come and for any family or friends who shared an interest in what we were doing. We never imagined so many of you would want to watch them. On this most recent visit to Ireland we had 14 subscribers upon leaving the UK and upon our return two weeks' later the number was close to 2000! Thank you. It goes without saying that this is one area in which we were definitely ill-prepared. We only had our phones… an no Wifi hence a lot of the footage is being collated at a later stage from home where we do have Wifi and editing software albeit basic. Some of you have commented on the poor audio quality. On our next visit I hope we will be equipped with at least a selfie-stick and hopefully a couple of remote mics with windshields to improve on this. This kind of thing can get pricy and we want to spend our money on the build project so we're hoping this may become self-financing. We now qualify for monetisation so the ads that play will provide a trickle of revenue to ourselves. If you can spare a few more seconds to let the ads run it's a big help and much appreciated. That way everyone gets what they want and need and we will be able to continue to learn and grow as filmmakers as well as homestead landowners! Keep the criticism coming because it helps us improve! I am glad to posted this update, and I don't mind the quality. I was in tears, it triggered me. Our first border collie Tommy was a rambler, he found every hole in the fences. But one day he escaped despite being on a (temporary) rope - with the piece of rope. He got tangled in a completely overgrown former field. He answered our despaired yelling his name while walking and walking and walking a few miles around our property (almost in the middle of nowhere). After 2-3 hours we figured out the place, unknown to us. The owner of the overgrown field - some 3 km from us, an old farmer, showed up and told us he had heard a dog barking from time to time. Those sheep and cattle farmers around here in West Cork absolutely hate unknown dogs, are scared to intruding dogs. But he was quite kind, I thing he understood, that this creature was no harm to his heard, quite the opposite, was in trouble. he showed us the direction, it was a hard struggle to reach the place full of mock and gigantic brambles. And there he was, Tommy nearly hanging on the rope, which had gotten shorter and shorter while trying to free himself. Yes, a dog IS a family member, especially if he grows up with the children. The anxiety and the worries are exactly the same. Thank you for this update.
Oh I’m glad you got Tommy back Eliane. I was anxious reading your recount in case the ending wasn’t quite as happy. We’ll be much more careful in future no question about it.
I don’t know how expensive they are, or how they’re used, but you can get tracking devices for putting on dogs collars that connect to your phone. My daughter has one for her dog as he will chase anything that moves if he gets the chance. (Normally, he’s always on a leash but sometimes…) So glad Roy ended up home safe. 😀
Went to bed last night praying Roy comes home .. so pleased this morning when you posted you found him.. all the best with your new adventure in your hidden home in the woods.. ❤
Awww we have just discovered your Channel! Thank goodness you got Roy back! How wonderful were the cows in helping you find him! We have two standard poodles and our Winston who is our black poodle was right up at the Tv screen kissing Roy! I'm a School teacher too. Loving your story and the link to the picture story book! It's like it was your home in a previous life and the house is bringing you back home!. All the best with the renovations! Annalisa, (Winston and Francis the poodles) xx
I am SO glad you found Roy! I discovered that you DO have a voice loud enough to hear! I believe both you and your husband have very low toned voices. I even heard him enough to understand him!
I had a male French poodle. They are amazingly tenacious and very brave, and far too adventurous for their own good. My heart went out to you. But, I rather expect he will do this again!
Wonderful news! I'm as relieved as you all are that he is safe and home. I would probably put a TILE on his collar. Love your videos and wishing you luck with the build. Cheers from Seattle, USA.
I know how you feel about Roy. I lost a dog after he took fright and ran through a gate that was open. I looked for days but never found him Really enjoying your TH-cam and the way you put them together.
Oh Roy I’m so glad your safe! May be a tracker on his collar would give you all peace of mind. ( I don’t even know how they work but sounds good) Much love to all x
Praise God Roy has been found and he was not injured, but just lost. I have had the experience of a lost pet and it is a horrible feeling. You feel so helpless and such guilt for letting them get out of your sight. I am truly thankful for Willy.
Thank god you got him back safe. I know how you feel, My dog dissapeared as a wee puppy for 18 hours of hell. I eventually found him safe. They are so precious to us, keep him safe xx.
Well that was a miracle if ever there was. What a relief Roy is found!!! Thanks to the cows and very intuitive Willy. Phew …. A close call, but, a very happy ending indeed.❤️❤️❤️❤️
Yes, intuitive is word I would use to describe Willy. He just appeared at exactly the right time and I thought how did he know we would be there then? ❤️❤️❤️
I am the owner of two one year old pups that are poodle mix. My female Ruby always stays close and comes when called but our male Max when he catches a sent takes off and no calling will bring him back. We always have to go after him. We are hoping he will settle down once he matures. Here's hoping . So I know how you felt when you lost him and the joy when he was found. Lets hope he has learned his lesson and now stays close to home
We’ll have to find ways of training him, and keeping him on a long leash. The call of the wild is a strong instinct. Perhaps more so with male dogs as you say. 👍
Roy was on my mind last night. Thank God he is back home safe and sound. I bet he's curled up in a little "cuddle cove" right now. Maybe a check up at the vet will also ease the worries.
I am smiling with joy as I watch Roy's rescue. God is good! In the U.S. you can purchase a dog run. It's a rectangular shaped chain link fence enclosure that can be moved when needed. I don't know if there is such a thing in Ireland, but I'm certain you will find the right answer to the runaway dog problem :)
Phew! Thank goodness you found him. Kept thinking of him after your initial video and had the feeling he would be in trees! So very pleased he is back with you. Sending lots of love.
Thank you so much for your concern and loving. Thoughts Ann. Sending love back to you. I LOVE your oil paintings btw. They are just loose enough to have lovely energy and charm. You’re very talented 😊❤️🙏🙌
Oh bless you. We’ll try not to put you through that again! 🤣 Thank you for your concern. The cows obviously have a maternal instinct and wanted to help us find him. 😊🐄
I’m just so happy you got him back bless you all. You must have gone through hell last night worrying about him. Isn’t nature wonderful❤ I love the picture of him with the sunglasses on😂😂😂❤
There will always be a small time lapse between the events and the uploads due to the time it takes to create and edit a video, and even longer when using roaming Wifi which is veeeerrrrry slow. Tears of joy at your reunion with Roy. So lucky to have such caring neighbors already. Can’t wait to watch your further adventures and progress. ❤️🙏🏼❤️
That’s great I really had a feeling he was with the cows that’s amazing…it’s funny when he gets away for an hour or so he gets a tongue lashing but if he gets a way for day then he gets big hugs and lots of love… sooo happy he’s home sweet home! I often wonder especially in times like these if he could only speak what kinds of stories would he have to tell about his little adventures heehee Welcome home Roy 🥰🥰🥰

I never got that dramatic footage of them emerging from the forest because I had no idea how deep they had gone from the entry point. Once inside you easily lose your bearings. Willy gave me a lift home and Noel and Sid found their way out on a different spot.
Jubilation! Thank god Roy was found safely. I was so teary on your last Vlog. I know how much I have loved my pets and when they wander off I am frantic,
I was in such a rush to get the sequel uploaded because it soon became clear how anxious people were. We’re overwhelmed by the loving support we’re receiving from people we’ve never met. Thank you so much. ❤️
I'm so so glad you found him!! I lost my own boy over 10 years ago now (unfortunately, there was no happy ending for us), and I remember the frantic worry and fear and grief like it was yesterday.
Oh I’m so sorry to hear that. I can begin to imagine your pain as we really believed we might have to come to terms with that. I’m so sorry if this episode stirred up painful memories for you. Every blessing and all the love in the world to you. 😭🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️
"You cheeky baai!" ha! Well I love Willie now. I'm so happy you have Roy back! Your son must be so thrilled, as you all are! What an experience. You'll have to build a dog run for your next visit so you can relax a bit. 💕
Oh Janet, I almost rang you, but held off. It was full on and thankfully we didn’t have to face another night without him. We love Willy too. In a funny way it’s brought us all closer. Funny how people bond over animals. ❤️❤️❤️
@@TheHiddenHouseIreland I was thinking that, knowing you had a happy ending and have Roy back, I'll bet the experience actually dug you into the area more deeply. I was so happy for Sid!
I know. Although neighbour she lives about a mile a way and walked up to meet us on the lane to help us search. By then we had found him so she was able to tell her neighbour Roy was found.
Great news. There is nothing that can describe that wonderful feeling when they are found. Thank you for letting us know. We lost out cat on a number of occasions. The last straw was when she disappeared for 9 days. We have bought her one of these gps trackers and it is amazing. Cats not supposed to travel far but she does. We use it at home and in Scotland and have found it has removed so much stress. We have always been able to track her as long as tracker charged.
Crying tears of joy for you that Roy is home again. Maybe you need to put a GPS on his collar in case he wanders again. Mind you he may stay closer to home for awhile, hopefully!
At last!i it’s good to see the wee dog home. Dogs are family….. Get a gps tracker for him and set up a proximity alert set up. Lots of hugs and pampering I trust!
I can't tell you how relieved I am. I freaked out when he went missing . Where I live, we have coyotes, mountain lions, and bears. Please, please don't allow Roy to be off leash. He was lucky this time. With this said, I do enjoy the videos
Oh phew! What a relief. I have been thinking of you and Roy all day and couldn't wait to get home and see if there was an update. What a nightmare it has been for you and how wonderful to have him home. I think it is the naughty step for Roy!
I’m sure it will Mary, as we should have mains power at the house for our next visit. These early days will make precious memories though… especially since they are so emotionally charged! 😊❤️
GREAT NEWS! I know my pets are like family to me ….I would have been frantic! Thank you so much for letting us know…. I was thinking about him & you this morning……indeed a cause for celebration! 😊
Hi all, have just started watching caught up over the weekend, u've had ur share of up,s and downs with the weather and trying to get to grips with it all, then Roy goes for a dander, i felt for u,s, well done Willy and his cow's, must've been a long night, then Roy none the worse from his adventures just hungry, am liking this series this far, take care. 👍
So glad you found your dog. It's always hard when you have a pet, and a dog that is bread to go after a scent. By the time he realizes he's lost it's to late to find the way back. Keep him close as if he was a young puppy again, he'll learn along with you. Dogs are much more forgiving then people. Keep him close, walk him lots. I don't want you to add years to your life. You love the dog. Your in an area that is like a foriegn land to him. And remember you are a good person, no matter what others say. And ask the good Lord for protection every day, it will change your life for the good.😊
So glad he is found you are very lucky, I have a plantation here and it’s full of drains, not good for dogs. When I moved here to west of Ireland alone with my four dogs it was my priority above everything to make sure the dogs didn’t get out. I have stock fencing/ gate to the road way and the other boundary’s I used to walk each day so they got to know there boundaries too. He will settle. All the best.
That's reassuring to know. At the moment we're not here full-time so it will be new to him. We will need to think about better boundaries also. How long have you been in Ireland? Did you move from the UK? Just taken a look at your channel and given it a sub. I see what you've done with your fencing and that could be the solution for us. Also love your polytunnel… something we hope to have once we've moved in. You have a great set up and are an inspiration to us. th-cam.com/video/MqvNQ_fEIcs/w-d-xo.html
@@TheHiddenHouseIreland yes I bought over internet, took a chance and packed a van up with my four dogs and travelled from the Isle of Wight. It was a scary journey as one dog howled all the way. The house was empty and no electricity/water etc but I was prepared to make do. Been here Year and half. Good neighbours and community most important. It’s been a rollercoaster
Trop heureuse que vous l'ayez retrouvé ! Pauvre petit chien, il a du être aussi désespéré que vous pendant ces longues heures. Merci d'avoir partagé rapidement bonne nouvelle. Greetings from Belgium

@@janetclaireSays it’s been a wonderful experience for him, despite the heartache.
That was a nightmare. Poor Roy, hopefully you can keep him from heading off again.
We’ll be doing all we can 😊
Great news glad your all okay 😊😊
Thank you 🙌
Thank you so very much for sharing the good news of Roy being found !! What a sweet neighbor.
9 days is extreme - you must have been beside yourself with worry. What brand of GPS tracker do you use? Do you have to pay a monthly subscription?
I cryed happy tears, so glad you found him!
Me too! Thanks for your kind support. X
Crying tears of joy for you that Roy is home again. Maybe you need to put a GPS on his collar in case he wanders again. Mind you he may stay closer to home for awhile, hopefully!
We won’t be taking any risks though… our nerves can’t take it! 🤣❤️
At last!i it’s good to see the wee dog home. Dogs are family….. Get a gps tracker for him and set up a proximity alert set up. Lots of hugs and pampering I trust!
Definitely. 👍😊❤️
I can't tell you how relieved I am. I freaked out when he went missing . Where I live, we have coyotes, mountain lions, and bears. Please, please don't allow Roy to be off leash. He was lucky this time. With this said, I do enjoy the videos
Thanks Carolyn. ❤️
@@TheHiddenHouseIreland I look forward to the next video.
Oh phew! What a relief. I have been thinking of you and Roy all day and couldn't wait to get home and see if there was an update. What a nightmare it has been for you and how wonderful to have him home. I think it is the naughty step for Roy!
Training programme and increased security measures definitely needed!
Praying 🙏 everything will get easier for Your wonderful family at your new homestead
The kindness of strangers is so heartening, thank you for caring and for thinking g of us. 😊❤️

Thank you and welcome Billy. So glad you found us! ❤

Thank you! ❤️
So happy for you....fur babies are our family
Absolutely! ❤
Glad Roy is home safe & sound 💙
Thank you 🙏
So glad you found your dog. And ask the good Lord for protection every day, it will change your life for the good.😊
What a beautiful comment, I truly appreciate your words. God bless you my friend. 🙏😊❤️❤️❤️
What an amazing forest! I would love to go exploring in there.
It’s a commercial plantation so not the best kind of forest. That said you would find deer, foxes and hates as well as mink in there. 😊

I shed some tears of relief knowing he was found. ❤
Oh bless you. Thanks so much. 😊❤️
So pleased that Roy is back, massive relief for you.

Will have to get him a GPS coller

We too! Thank you naoimi ❤
Well that was a good cry me. Thank god for Willy.
Ah I'm so pleased you found Roy, it must have been so awful, such a dense forest. You are so fortunate to have such a good neighbour in Willy.
Couldn’t agree more. He’s a Godsend. 🙏😊❤️
Very glad to see that Roy is home again!
Thank you 🙏🏻
Trop heureuse que vous l'ayez retrouvé ! Pauvre petit chien, il a du être aussi désespéré que vous pendant ces longues heures.
Merci d'avoir partagé rapidement bonne nouvelle.
