As a person who is preparing to take the MCAT and getting into med school I really needed the message at the end. Thank you Jules so much. Keep on being amazing.
As a recent Fam Med grad from residency, here’s the best advice I heard (and I’m paying it forward like you will too): 1. Study the day’s material everyday and start with the difficult topic first 2. Don’t ever do an all-nighter 3. Remember to have fun and do things that are good stress relievers for you. 4. If you’re going to fail, fail gracefully, go back and study harder and you will pass 5. It’s ok not to be sure what specialty in medicine starting med school. Everyone figures out what they want 6. If you feel burned out, take a break (it’s ok to take a day off), go out and have some fun with family/friends 7. Lastly, you don’t need to be a genius, it’s persistence, humility, and commitment that makes a good doctor. Cheers!
I'm a professional artist rather than a doctor, but let me tell you: TAKE BREAKS WHILE STUDYING. I spent HOURS working on my illustration thesis in art school (as well as the rest of my work) and destroyed my spine in the process. I still have permanent nerve damage from it 15 years later that causes me pain and discomfort every single day and I haven't had a good night's sleep in over a decade because of it. So this is my advice: ➡️ Mind your posture at your desk. Don't stay hunched over your books and notes. Try to sit up straight. ➡️ In the same vein, mind how far forward your head is tilted because it puts heinous amounts of strain on the muscles in your neck. ➡️ Invest in the best desk chair you can afford. Also consider getting a tilting foot rest for under your desk. They're cheap (mine was $15 from an office supply place), and they naturally make you sit up straighter. ➡️ Take breaks. I know it's easy to get lost in The Zone, but get up once an hour to get a drink, a snack, or just walk around for a minute. Stretch. ➡️ If you're spending a ton of time looking at screens as well, consider getting computer lenses. I got a pair from my optometrist. I don't need corrective lenses, but the computer lenses cut screen glare and make the muscles in your eyes relax. I can physically feel my eyes relax when I put them on and they completely eliminated the eye strain headaches I was getting. Again I'm not a doctor or med school student, but I hope these tips can help you nonetheless. My body failed me at 25 years old because I DIDN'T do any of this stuff, and I regret it every day! Take care of yourself and good luck! 💜
Thank you guys so much for selecting my suggestion! It made my whole week! But onwards my friends to another... 10 video game difficulties that made you chuck a controller.
Jules, I swear, you are a goddamned treasure, and sometimes, your messages at the end of your videos are the only things that get me through the week. Keep doing what you're doing. YOU are the massive legend.
I've asked for this before and i'll ask for it again: 10 video games that had wholesome tributes to players/developers who passed away. The tribute to Glitterbeard in Sea of Thieves for example.
What's worth mentioning about BotW's Korok seeds is that atfer either 400 or 450, Hestu will STOP upgrading your sash, so there's basically no point of collecting more seeds if Hestu isn't going to help you anymore. What they should have done is to allow your sash to stack the same item up to say 9 times, meaning that 9 exact same swords would have taken only 1 slot, and if one breaks, another semmlessly replaces it.
Does someone need a hug?? Sorry couldn't help myself lol Mine is games like Nija Gyden as In, just looking at the achievements n seeing that completing the game just using 1 weapon gives a poxy 5gamescore knowing full well that u can accidentally slip up so easily n f it all up coz u only just spent ur whole 1st playthrough learning how to play it n using everything in ur arsenal n this is my actual most wasted time is the crystal trials I've spent so many hours (in game and therapy) n not got any further just fricking depresses me so much lol
I remember when i did that sr4 dlc and it gave me the option to lick, i just straight up did it despite all the commentary. When i finished it and the game only gave me an achievement, i just laughed and was like “yep, this is something that the devs would do”
It's weird that live and let's dice doesn't have more subscribers Jules has the most contagious energy I've ever seen he adds a layer of amazing to everything
Top 10 video games that made you feel welcome and like someone cared? I sometimes felt like I get to spend time with friends or a kind of family, while gaming as a teen, because of how kind/cute/wholesome the charakters were (all single player games, or games you could still play alone). Idk, anyone else have to supplement social interactions with games? Thanks for the outro again!
Correction about Breath Of The Wild; Getting 100% before beating Ganon nets you a “Secret Ending” that offered up so little in and of itself to madden the most focused of players further!
Gunpoint has an achievement for punching an enemy 100 times. You only need to tackle them and punch them one time to knock them out, but the game gives you random messages as you continue to punch before asking you if you are doing it to see if you get any other messages about it. Then you get the achievement after the one hundredth punch titled "Alright, have one! Just Stop!" It's description states: "This is an achievement in name only. No-one admires you for punching a guy that many times."
So as someone that has issues with RTB or ATB games due to health I would love a list of the top 10 turn based games and of course OF ALL TIME and thanks to all of you there at what culture your smiles and your postiivty during this time has been such a wonderful gift...keep it up :D
BTW Jules... please... stop... saying... "awfully hosted"... You've proven time and time again that you like your job, to host these lists and to pepper them with your personal opinion. That's FAR from being awful, that's being dedicated. Also, after your speeches, you should consider replacing "awfully" by "awe-inspired", because THAT would better represent you :) You make people laugh and you inspire them ^_^
How about these scintillating lines from Descent: Freespace - The Great War when, after several tens of thousand of confirmed kills, you achieve these ranks: "We're not sure how you did it, but you are hereby promoted to the rank of rear admiral. We think you cheated." "You really must've cheated to get this rank. Do you want to sit behind a desk? That is what vice admirals do." "You really have got to stop cheating. This could become a natural thing for you, and that would be bad. Go on, Admiral Cheater. I think you have to perform some ceremony or inspection, or something." Your boss just insulted you AND broke the fourth wall!
Call of duty world at war gives you the "get some sun" achievement, implying we're all a little pasty hahaha Jules you're a wonderful human, you inspire me to be better, and thanks so much for that you southwest savage egg you haha thanks for everything
A penguin clubbing documentary with Gilbert godfree omfg that's is dark AF but that's made my day.... Reminds me of charlie not wanting to kill rats anymore
And this right here is why the only game I've ever gone to the effort of one hundred percenting is Super Mario World, no insults and I got a sweet steel drum version of the Mario theme.
To be fair to Spider-Man 2, Bruce Campbell does say "Something Different" several different ways if I remember correctly. Still, I laughed the first time I heard that and realized what they did.
back in 1998 i dedicated an entire weekend to get all the stuff in the Jurassic Park game and after playing a chomppy and getting stepped on by a predator time after time and getting all the way through everything i found out jeffy boy wants me to go outside after my weekend was over at 8 at night. safe to say i had a bad week at school.
Now...think of how cruel it would be for a game Dev make 100%/Platinuming a game to end with a black screen with just the words "You 100%ed the game, Congrats!!!" followed by deleting all your saves right afterward (well Nier Replicant before the remake kinda does this once you get the D ending and you couldn't restore it in those versions of the game as ending E didn't exist until the remaster). Now think of how this could really be insulting if they can get in cahoots with Sony/Xbox/whatever the platform owner with the achievement system is and not only do all your save files get deleted but also all of your trophies/achievements besides 1 which winds up being a bronze/low level achievement stating you 100%ed the game, now try doing so again and make all the other trophies really BS (the platinum of said game would be something like you get 99% of all things in the game but once you get 100% it resets). The rage that gamers would have if a dev trolled players in that way would be legendary lol.
I don't like BotW so I never knew about the golden turd so I didn't expect it. I've been playing video games for 30 years and I'm 38 now and I'm honestly getting sick and tired of the modern gaming industry. So much so that this may be my last gen of modern gaming. I've kept all my consoles and all my games so I have over 800 games and I regularly replay them so I can go fully retro any time I want.
So, even less incentive to collect all the Korok seeds. Good thing I'd already decided to stop collecting them when I've maxed all my stashes! (I'm still more than 100 away, I think?)
Sincerely, only the Jurassic Park entry seemed to actually reflect the title of the video. All other achievements are just those filler/annoying stuff that we see on multiple "worst/useless achievements" lists. I don't necessarily see those entries as some way of insulting the player. I’ll suggest this till it happens: Video game knockoffs that were actually pretty good

I'm guessing it has a different meaning in the medical world but out here MCAT is a hard hitting drug called Methadrone
