    I bought a General Lee kit a couple years ago, must have been one of the last ones with the authentic Confederate Flag and General Lee decals. As far as the kit goes, yes it was quite a challenge to get everything to fit right. The rear clip didn’t line up, the roll bars were off center, and the steering wheel extends too close to the driver’s seat. But I got it all adjusted with a combination of files, knives, and putty and it came out nice.
    I then had Tom Wopat sign it when he came to my city. After that I took a picture of it and sent a nasty email to Warner Brothers telling them to F off. And I’m a Yankee who is proud that our side won the Civil War.
    The Dukes of Hazzard was NEVER a racist or offensive TV show. Truth is it’s probably one of the most appropriate shows to let your young children watch because there’s usually a good moral lesson Uncle Jesse taught the Duke Boys or Boss Hogg by the end of each episode.
    This whole thing really irritates me to no end.
    #GeneralLee Forever

    This is an interesting rendering, I built a few MPC General Lees way back and if not mistaken the front and rear glass were one unit, This was an easy peasy build and I'd probably build it again.

    Do you know if they make this Charge in a larger size? When I was a kid and the Dukes of Hazzard was on my Dad bought me a 69 Dodge Charger General Lee model that was a 1/10 size I think it was massive. I have since lost it somehow. I love the die cast 1/18 models but hate the RT paint job. I would love to get rid of that trunk stripe. I love deep blue or candy apple red.

      It can be found in 1/16 scale, it's an MPC kit.
      It's out of print but searching Ebay and such you may eventually get one.

    I'm not a real Dodge fan, but I like the looks of this kit. I realize it's a repop of the General Lee for us Northerns. I love that decal sheet. I may just have to grab myself one. Thanks for sharing, as always. I immensely enjoy this reviews.

    Nice review. I was wondering what this re-release of the Lee would look like. I'm actually surprised they were to make this so good. And by so good, I mean passable, as this kit had been so much abused that I thought the molds couldn't be saved AT ALL! I still think this mold should have been retired in favor of a new tooling, to be at least on par with (or better than) Revell's '69 Charger, but that's my personnal opinion.
    That said, this review is pretty nice and well done, feel like a professional review, where you were neutral and didn't try to push your personnal opinion on us. So, good work!

    Looks like an easy kit would be great for beginners working on something a bit more challenging. I love it! Lots of chrome. :)

    • @thefalloutshelter7799
      @thefalloutshelter7799 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is definitely not a kit for beginners. There is hardly a piece on it that fits properly and really takes a lot of work to make a decent build out of it

    Warner Brothers can prevent MPC from marketing it as a General Lee model kit but MPC could still include a Confederate/Rebel Flag decal and "Lee" decals as options to go along with the other flags and names decals . Warner Bros cannot cannot prevent the inclusion of those optional decals if MPC chooses to include them so long as it isn't marketed as a "General Lee" model kit which it isn't, it's the Dodge "Country" Charger. Warner Bros owns the rights to the General Lee not to the name "Lee" or the Confederate Flag itself. If a purchaser of the Dodge "Country" Charger decides on their own to build it as a General Lee, that is their perogative. So MPC get with the program and include those options.

    Is it me, the lighting or the black plastic, but does the details look really soft on a lot of items. Seats and dashboard in particular.

    Nice review, But for myself, I would buy that one for the flag decals, and parts for other projects. Buy and build the Revell 69 Charger kit and build it as the badguy's car, try to get a 68 Mustang kit, and build it like the Bullit car. The chase scenes in the movie are spectacular!

      He reviewed it like he’s getting paid by them. The kit is CRAP! Mold lines are awful! Flash out the wazoo and release pin marks in the floor pan so crappy it takes 10 grit sandpaper to repair. (I know it’s as big an exaggeration as his review!) I think the driver side looks like garbage too. Could there be a worse review? I want to see his complete build of that particular kit.

    • @zachknutsen4661
      @zachknutsen4661 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      This kit is also based off of the original MPC 1968 and up annual. For molds that are 50 years old it has held up well.

      For me its okay... But i bought the kit to make a stock charger. I didnt want the decals or the roll cage. I gave it a nice metallic pearl bright blue paint scheme. A red and gray interior. I really didnt like the wheels they are disappointing. But you can choose the suspention height so thats pretty cool from the makers. Over all a 6/10

    Notice the flag this is another release of the reissue general lee 69 dodge charger rt, and that's why you see people building a General Lee out of it,i have not bought one i have the reissue for the 69 dodge charger Daytona i want to find me a yellow molded 69 mpc yellow dodge charger 500 dyna charger I had one years ago and my dad had the original issue 1995 tooling white molded plastic dodge charger Daytona and we combined the two white charger with the white dash and doors panels painted black, and the yellow seats from the dyna charger i had and my yellow charger 500 had the yellow dash and door panels with the white interior pieces from my dads Daytona kit, I never used the dyna charger decals for it and a buddy offered me $150 for the build custom car and the decal sheet and wing and nose parts and the manual for both cars and i believe the charger 500 box I never put the option rt grille in the yellow charged the stock 500 grille is what I used and why my buddy wanted it so bad
