    hey brother. some friendly advice if you are interested... your videos will get more views and your channel will grow faster if you cut your preamble to a short and concise intro, get right into showcasing the primary and then sprinkle some digressions here and there if you need to. remember that most of your core audience is used to fast talkers and quick cuts to relevant content. the average attention span is very short nowadays so them looking at you standing on a hull going through 2 minutes of preamble and digressions is going to cause much of your potential audience to move on after a minute of looking for interest. I would suggest making a script and editing the dead air out. Also just getting right to business in the showcase will help tremendously... otherwise good stuff dude! keep it up!

      Yes it's one of the few ships that symmetry purists won't call you a kreeten over.

    I have built carriers for ages. Best strat is to have 5+ bays with drones rebuildable and PMW Missiles. If I plan on attacking another fleet or someones base I sit 5km out and just build up a huge fleet of drones and missiles just have them holding a hover and then once I have a big stack I send them all in at once. 99.99999% of the time I will not lose just because my numbers are so high. And I can if need to be keeping rebuilding and reinforcing the front if needed. I solo'd a faction of 6 people. They we're a lot bigger than me and a lot richer but I wiped there main base and all ships just with that strat and I came out with scratches. Nothing I couldn't repair on my flight back to base.

    I personally like the idea of a battle carrier, and have built around that idea a few times. I even did a recent Escape From Mars scenario and built a battle carrier rover during the playthrough. I also very much recognize that grey and red "older" carrier. It appears from time to time in the More NPC Encounters mod if you use it. It is the Callisto made by JD Horx. Maybe if you get a chance to also check out JD Horx's IMDC Europa Carrier it is quite a bit bigger and has a welder bay inside it. There is also a new version on his workshop now updated by WardenWolf.

      its old, its gorgeous but it serves as a great template for upgrading.
      I mean all the ships from Horx are like the basic templates, not complicated but still great, practical, functional and fun to play with. Change some weapons, add some blocks and you can go. Easy to print too most of the time.
      If you have not checked them out yet, get the full collection and load into a creative world, highy recommended!
      I still get inspired by them after 3500 hours. :D
      And yes, The Carriers never had their real time until the automations updated came along.

      Battle-Carriers are some of my favourite sub-types of ship in both Space Engineers and From the Depths, particularly with the same style of set-up as say a Venator,
      where it can either go into broadsides or fight head on, with multiple exit points for the Hangar (or multiple hangars), for specifically SE however, I like to make sure there is a capacity for two flights of 5 fighters/interceptors, 3 spots for bomber-style craft and dipping into Assault Ships with a Dropship of some sort, so about 15 stored craft in total.

      @TheFearsomeRat a thru deck or halfing a battle ship horizontally then connecting the two pieces by building a carrier between them would work as well.

    Oh I'm so so happy you mentioned that point defense is a must have on a carrier. I've never liked completely unarmed carriers, might as well just be a plan boring transport ship. I do feel like these are more just escort carriers due to how cramped they seem but thats no big deal really. Another good vid definitely enjoying your warship type identification series.

    As i said in another comment, you can propably make a whole series by just looking at the Ships of JD Horx, put the fighters and drones on carriers, upgrade the ships with stuff, show how to make drone carriers, patrol ships and all the stuff. He covered the whole spectrum long before automations and nowadays some of the things are even more useful.
    They are old but still serve as amazing templates. ;)

      That just shows how solid the builds are. Hell the mustang fighter is making a comeback as the Wolverine turbo prop close air support craft. Legends truly never die.

    I like this Grottan style, its very well designed and similar to a Russian Carrier philosophy which looks menacing. Also it is a bit similar to this new game on consoles about Mars launching attack on earth or something. Oh, and this "racks" are used also in Halo ships.

      Russian carrier philosophy is a nonsense. Battlecarriers is most stupid idea ever! I mean, technically you can have Cruiser-Carrier. But that is only because Cruiser also shouldn't be really hit.

    Carriers and missile ships are the current meta, but it depends entirely on your drones and missiles.
    If theyre simple vanila drones, numbers are great, but can easily be wiped by an experienced pilot. But the good drone scripts out there? Absolutely sweep the floor against the biggest battleships.
    Missiles are the same, even scripts like rdav and wham/lamp just with the features and range can overwhelm most ships. Mirrored like real life.
    I will say carriers themselves may not be the meta, as they typically are weaker in fire power and armor. So id recommend an assault ship with drone bays, or utilize your battleships connectors for drones, for the ultimate threat

      @@badgerwildgaming6908 I think if you utilize combat effectiveness in all parties, you'll do more damage. But I'll also say, for fun and RP, it's nice to have a carrier that doesn't do it all. So you can rely on the other fleet to fulfill the niche of combat

    Something people need to realize is with a carrier fleet you can jump in, launch fighter/torpedo bombers from 20-30km's and keep hitting a target again and again since overall resource cost will be a lot less than it would be for fielding large grids into a hot zone.

      Yeah they're plenty of examples in sci-fi were captains would jump a carrier in on one side of a station launch Fighters and then jump to the other side to retrieve them after their mission was over with

      ​@@badgerwildgaming6908 I like that simple tactic. After unloading munitions on target the fighter/bomber squadron flies away, regroups, drops a gps pin, carrier jumps on location then picks everyone up and jumps away.

    I build a small non ftl scout carrier design to patrol areas around a planet and or it’s moon in space flight only

    Only a meta because servers put on stupid restrictions to ships that should be good at combating tiny ships. Plus batteries on these ships are not capital grade, it's like people label something a battleship and then put on these destroyer like turrets on them. Railgun turrets are a start though but not really what one would call a good battleship gun

      One group of guys built a small version of the donager from the Expanse and made mini versions of the Tachi and Morgan class as fighters. You could build a mini version of the vipers and have a shit ton of them launch as drones.

      They don't, it's fairly easy to dodge artillery. Sure, against a stationary testing target they do a lot, but DPS doesn't mean much if it's completely wasted on vacuum

      You need to look up getbrockeds video on how the Kans fought off his entire server.
      Using the barrle roll technique you can dodge almost 90% if not all the fire coming from a computer turret.
      Team work is the only way I've found to beat this maneuver. Have one guy bait the enemy by countering the barrel roll with one of your own the a second faster ship, (possibly a light destroyer with fixed arttyes) then flanks and hammers the attacker from the side.

    Carriers are definitely not meta not even on modded servers. Carrier frigates corvettes these all dont exist you just build the biggest ship the server limits allow you. There is no valid reason to try and use real life ship classifications in a game like this.

      @@themeddite2935 Their fundamental problem is servers limit things per player that means a group of players wants to just make the biggest ship possible for each of them. Then there is the issue that large ships have more range than small ships so you can just kite the fighters.

      Have you tried a fighter design that can be printed fast and cheap to deploy? Then the carrier can swarm cheap fighters at the target. Also how are they set up if the fighters redeploy at sharp angles then yes they would suck but I built an atmo drone that dingaged at a shallow angle and would run past the target giving it the chance to surround and swarm a ship. I'll do a video showing how to set it up if you want to try it?

    Carriers are just not the vanilla meta. Not at all. Please do your research and actually ask people instead of assuming. Ship classifications are arbitrary and shouldn't be used. Please do not spread misinformation.

      Mostly I would mix a few strike craft with alot of cheap harassment fighters. Given the proper angle of disengagement they could put most of the fighters on the target a run.
