I’ve been absolutely honest with myself, time to change, listen to my feelings and body, slowing down and being mindful and grateful. I’m sorting and simplifying everything and it feels amazing. I think you've really hit the nail on the head with your observations and sentiments. Sounds like you've had an Epiphany! I think we are relentlessly propositioned in the most sophisticated ways to spend and to acquire when, as you say, we should be happy with at least some of our belongings....which, at the time of acquiring, were our choice. Sometimes we do change our mind .....but we don't need a wholesale change, with fashion, of everything with the changebof seasons. Having been a car-booter pre-Covid and a volunteer in a charity shop, I saw first hand how wasteful and fickle, dare I say, we have become. Purchases brand new and packaged donated....what a waste. In some ways the cost of living rise has meant that we are all reexamining our spending habits, some of us even returning to using cash to be able to budget better. I think the feelings you felt in the video on cleaning will resonate with many. And for me, I considered cleaning as a semi-religious experience; something I do with love for my home, do it regularly and that it makes me feel so happy afterwards. It's a time I spend contemplating many things ....like you did....including the love for my chosen home purchases. Happy home, happy householder.
Hi! I used to be influenced a lot by other trends & homes on social media. I still do at times, but I think what has helped me is keeping my home clean & organized. When ny house feels clean/organized I feel at peace & I enjoy my home more. A lot of my pieces are thrifted or from antiques. I think your house is lovely, & I enjoy seeing character in houses 🙂

What a lovely video and topic! We are being bombarded by so many crisis' that what you are thinking is resonating with many of us! I thrive with simple, slow living and contentment with what I have and find the "influencers" that I used to enjoy come off as excessive, out of touch with the economy and careless with their money. My friend and I have a saying ' be more Amish ' .The older I get the more I get from simple things and get a little kick from not following the trend it's quite empowering!!
You should try Spruce instead. Their bottles are aluminium not plastic and the refills packaging is home compostable. I tried Smol too… BUT to be fair I didn’t like the smells nor did they clean well. It just felt like cleaning with water :( I was so disappointed so I was glad to find something else that works well and is ethical and vegan and helps me maintain my hormones

I quite agree about not being influenced by thinking you need more or better. There is a lot of this in our culture and of course it sells us things instead of getting us to enjoy what we have. I love my house, don't follow the latest trends and realise that there are many people in the world who would give anything to have just the basics in life. We also have a culture where busyness is celebrated, but bringing up children requires its own sense of time. I really enjoyed your video today.

Hi Deborah we spent past 6 mnth clearing our garden n making it nice but can't sit in it till weekends due to 2 houses putting up extensions😋😋😋😋
