My first gig back around 1971-72 I played in a bar in Queens using my 22,13,16 60’s Sly Blue Pearl Ludwig kit. The first thing I did when I got paid was buy some cases. I still have that kit ( among others) and cases for all my drums. Protect your investment. Good luck to you.
@@pour-g8677it the loading in and out of the venues. Small doorways, people that won’t move. I use soft cases and a cart and get my kit in and out in 2 quick trips. Also, protects your investment and money maker! 😊

Edit : Went back and noticed the tiny pieces of moon gels. I go usually go two full ones on the floor toms or those things resonate like a SOB
Man, that brings back memories when I used to play in a band. I remember those days packing all my drum stuff into my car then eventually bought a truck. Looking forward to seeing more content. 👍

If I have the time/space, I try to bite the bullet and set up the full kit, smaller venues definitely don’t give me that space. Episode 2 shows that side of things haha

On bigger scales, say like Nashville, the bars/venues usually will purchase a license that allows use of the music. Thanks for the comment! Nice set up! To be honest as a gig drummer I never carry a drum as big as yours... cause it makes me waste a lot of time and my mates doesnt gelp me :(
Zach may I make a suggestion when hauling your drum to the gigs get a set of cases for both your drums and hardware and ratchet straps because if you need to stop quick they become projectiles and will probably kill ya !
Haha I used to put them all in soft cases but it became too much extra hassle on top of already breaking it all down, might try it again though cause I know what you mean! 😂 thanks for the suggestion!
@@ZestyDrums38 hey it might be a pain but if you get hit in the rear with any velocity those cymbal stands become flying spears I only say this because I am a former VFF and was at a wreck in MD a few years back while I was on vacation traffic was backed up in the fog and the drummer was on his way to the studio for a session and a van hit him in the rear end at 55 mph his hi hat stand went through his seat and went through his heart killing him instantly! So it's no joke I am also a drummer for 35 years and ANYTIME my drums and hardware are in my SUV they are in cases and strapped down I tie them into the seat mounts and I just don't want to see anything bad happen especially when it can be avoided! Plus it protects your stuff from getting bent and drums getting holes in the heads or them getting cracked! I understand we are tired when the gig ends but if you want to make it to the next one take my advice!
@@ZestyDrums38 i switched to soft cases a few years back with the straps they have i can carry 2 floor toms and 2 rack toms at the same time, life is easy lol

Get some drum cases it makes a world of difference so you don't mess your kit up.
