When I have a difficult time falling asleep your calming voice does the trick. I also enjoy putting on the headset and making the drudgery of working pass the time away.
Thank you Garrison, for all the many years you have taken us back to our own Lake Wobegon. All of us that call the Midwest home (even if we live 1300 miles away), remember our Lake Wonegons, maybe more so because of you. Even if “home” no longer exists as it once did in reality, we can always visit in our memories through your stories. You are blessing sir. Thank you. 🙏
Thank you for posting this. I use to drive home from Wisconsin as a very young adult, alone. No cellphones back then. This program always calmed me down.
My dad and I listened every Saturday night ever since I was 6. I'm 42 now. My dad passed away this past March and this show is an eternal connection to the hero that showed me how to be a good man. Now, I go to his empty house or graveside and play our favorite character skits for a while. I miss him and am GRATEFUL FOR THIS PROGRAM AND GARRISON for providing so so so so many fond memories spent with dad. I'm not a typical listener.... I'm a professional punk rock musician that appreciates the wholesome essence of A Prarie Home Companion and the clean wit of it all. I miss my dad and the old days so.
Being from a Lake Wobegon in far Northern Minnesota, I can hear he really lost his accent in later years. This was such a nice change from his newer monologs. After moving to Colorado in later life I used to listen to him while cooking Sunday dinner. I was devastated when he retired from the broadcast.
Great story about Christmas 🎄 activities. One of your ardent listeners from Bellingham Wa pastor, "Where the women are strong and the men are goodlooking and all the children are above average".
"You know, there's no place like home when you're not feeling well." Wise words indeed. Thank you for sharing this monologue! Will never forget that grease is the main byproduct of goose. 😂
Young Garrison "hits different" as the kids say. He lacks the aged wisdom that I grew up listening to on my parents' long car rides in the 90s, but he has a youthful vigor to him that I'm not used to hearing. Very good. Much love to Lake Wobegon
I know I am listening and it is not Christmas . But , I see Garrison's name I click . He is a great , imaginative and funny writer and he narrates very well. He is so funny .
As always, thank you for sharing your perspective on the world and life from Lake Wobegon. I've listened to you since I started college back in 2003 - and it has been a pleasure since. I especially love PHC shows around the holidays.

It's usually refered to as the Honey Wagon. 😊🙃
Just saying. 🤓
Very hilarious
This is the worst garrison site. How dare you call yourself "official?"
Interesting; but I can't continue as your voice is so different than Writer's Almanac!
Jeez, it's been 40 years since this aired, what did you expect?
Your loss.
