Dune 2 is 100% getting a best picture nomination. I share Jeff’s surprise that Scott and Perri are even doubting this.
and its the best movie this year by far but i know it Won't win because the academy is terrible
Dune 2 is overrated crap. The worst Villeneuve's movie so far.
Yeah it's still at the top of almost every list. I don't get the notion that people have "moved on".
@@ahmedfarid-cd1mbyou misspelled CHALLENGERS and FURIOSA.
@@ktom5262 Its much better than Dune: Part 1.
Dune part 2 is a lock. There is no way it doesn’t make it.
I agree. Dune 2 should win Best Picture.
Jeff is so right about Dune Two.
The Brutalist not on the radar yet? Feels like the hype is building every week
The Brutalist is for sure going to be a heavy Oscar contender based on that it's Focus Features and it's about a holocaust survivor played by Adrien Brody.
It surely is a thing but these trio, specially Jeff with his lack of professionalism, are simply clueless Brutalist, Conclave, Nickel boys are so strong for nominations
Dune 2 is a lock to be a best picture nomination
Loved seeing the crew back so soon!
But Jeff is so right about Dune 2. I can't really believe how Perri and Mantz are lukewarm on Dune 2 getting BP nom. The movie is one of the most acclaimed sci fi movies of all time, and gone are the times when a movie like Dune 2 does not get in.
Personally, Dune 2 and Oppenheimer are one of the best movies of the decade, and even if I take my personal opinions out, I think there are a lot of people who think Dune 2 is monumental, and I don't think people will forget that theatrical experience.
Would love to come back to this video in 3-4 months and see how Dune 2 fared. I will back Dune 2 for both BP and BD noms
There is no world in which Dune 2 misses a best picture nomination. It is by far the technical achievement of the year
WE ARE SO BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!
There’s going to be several big movies nominated, I can’t see Dune 2 not being one of them. Easiest prediction in the world.
Not anymore when you look at what I coming out of the festival's it can easily miss.
@@ashpie296 “it can easily miss” in what world does a movie (sequel to a best picture nominee) get a nomination in *every* tech category and miss best picture in a world of 10 nominees?
The 10 films I think will get into Best Picture (no particular order):
- Dune: Part 2
- Queer
- Sing Sing
- Anora
- Conclave
- Blitz
- Joker: Folie a Deux
- The Brutalist
- The Piano Lesson
- Nickel Boys
You're crazy if you think Dune Part II won't get a best picture nomination
Great to have you back and at 78 thankful to be sitting here watching - cheers until the next episode
Missed you for the Emmys! Glad to see you back for the Oscars
LOVE the color coordination - missed you guys!!
My favorite part of Perri's channel is back!
Dune 2 is absolutely a lock for a Best Picture nomination. Why is there even a debate that it wont land one?
By the way, Nolan called Dune: Part 2 Villeneuve’s Empire Strikes Back. Which make it even more bizarre that two out of three of you guys think it is not a lock for BP. We will see…
It also depends on how well Gladiator 2 and Joker 2 are recieved. They are all three in competition for those blockbuster slots in the BP lineup.
I think Dune 2 is definitely getting picture. Its been such a weak year thus far, with not that many on the horizon generating much buzz. Dune 2 has remained in the general discourse this year
Woahhh this just made me realize how fast the year has gone! But couldn’t be more excited for Oscar predicts.
Dune 2 is still the best picture to come out this year.
Even if you argue that Dune Part II isn't going to win Best Picture, there's no chance it makes it into pretty much every single tech category and misses a Best Picture nomination. Zero chance.
Perri is high in her Wicked bubble, but only theatre nerds care about this show. And yes, they are hiding the fact it’s a musical, like they did with The Color Purple, Mean Girls et al.
Great to see you guys again. I think this year's Oscar season maybe a little difficult for nominations. Feels like anyone can really pull it off this year.
Christmas is coming early!! I’m glad you are back together guys! So happy 🎉🎉🎉
Perri spending 45 minutes saying she’s not ready to make a prediction is my idea of great content! So glad the show is back, but come on Perri, don’t be afraid to be wrong, it’s part of the fun of an early prediction show!
I was literally thinking about this show yesterday wondering if there would be a new season! So glad yall are back!
It’s that time, folks!!!! 🎉🎉 love this part of the channel every year ❤
I agree with Jeff, Dune Part 2 will get the nomination for Best Picture. That film is so great and better than the Part 1.
Love the new cameras though HAJAJAJAJAJA
It's great to see you guys back 🫶 So excited for this new season to begin ❤
Woooh! I missed seeing you three on screen together!
It doesn't have the right distribution to be in play, but if any film deserves a Best Picture nom and a lead acting nom, it's GHOSTLIGHT
Dune 2 is certainly getting nominated, 2024 does not seem to be close to as stacked as 2023 and part 2 was a massive improvement on the first one
"Looks wicked bad" from Jeff re: Wicked got a big laugh from me as a New Englander. Pumped that you guys are back!
Sight unseen, I have;
1) Dune: Part Two
2) Sing Sing
3) Anora
4) Blitz
5) Conclave
6) Nickel Boys
7) Joker: Folie Á Deux
8) Gladiator II
9) Emilia Perez
10) A Complete Unknown
I recognise the Academy ain’t gonna nominated more than two sequels so between Joker & Gladiator one of those has to go, so maybe something like Queer or Saturday Night could sneak in there
Been following since the first fyc , seeing news eps always brings a smile to my face and make the day 10x better
Literally my favorite series of YT videos every year ❤❤🎉🎉
So glad to see all of you!
Glad you guys are back
I've watched some FYC episodes in the past years, but I'm excited to be joining in the beginning for this new FYC Oscar year. 🙌
Psyched to have you for the full season!
Aw, thank you, Perri. That means a lot to me. I’m psyched as well. p.s. I loved seeing you on the theater screen over the years, and I enjoy your film reviews. Much love and respect to you.
How is it Season 7 already for FYC?! So happy to see you all back and better than ever 🎉😊🔥 Seeing Perri defend Wicked was a highlight of my day 🩷 💚
Thanks for getting to Saturday Night Jeff; I think that's one to watch for sure.
Sad that neither “Civil War” or “Challengers” are in consideration at this point - that was my Barbenheimer this year!
YES WE ARE SO BACK
I wish Furiosa was a contender 😓 my fav movie of the year
I don't know why people are doubt Dune 2's chances at the moment. Is still just end of August. Obviously the studio will mount a campaign to bring back awareness of the movie. I doubt it will win but it will be in the nominees for sure.
Haven’t seen everything possible yet since I don’t go to festivals or anything like that, but I’d love to see Colman Domingo and Clarence Maclin recognized for Sing Sing as well as Joan Chen for Didi.
That's not going to happen because those films just too small. A24 that released Sing Sing is going to push Daniel Craig for Queer and Focus Features that released Dìdi is going to make Conclave their main priority.
I think Dune 2 can still win, as the year ends people will just come back to the big film with craft and cast and critic and commercial hit
So happy to see an update 😊
Yaaaaaay!!! I've missed the show! Excited for this coming awards season
The sound work in Civil War is extraordinary and show should be nominated.
I'm so excited for the Emilia Perez ladies
Excited for the new season!!
Missed this show, welcome back guys
I was surprised that you all didn't mention "Maria" starring Angelina Jolie. Any particular reason why?
Dune part 2 is lock for a Best Picture Nomination for me.
Dune 2, Joker: Folie à Deux, Anora, and Emilia Pérez, are my only nomination predictions for Best Picture I have at this time. Heck if things keep on Inside Out 2 might get a chance.
(My List for Films This Year That Will Get Forgotten this Season): Ghostlight, Problemista, Didi, and THELMA!
Personally the performances this year are gonna be wayyy more of a challenge to put into predictions. It's been insane this year, but thats a conversation for another day.
I really hope Anora gets major traction during this awards season, it’s a really special film.
Any chance for anything for Fresh Kills? It’s my favorite movie of the year but extremely small Odessa A’Zion, Jennifer Esposito, and Emily Bader are all excellent in it
Aaaaaaaand we're back
my Oscars 2025 early predictions for the Best Picture are
top 10:
Dìdi
Anora
Conclave
Sing Sing
Emilia Pérez
Nosferatu
Dune: Part Two
A Complete Unknown
Queer
Blitz
next-in-line:
The Piano Lesson
Nickel Boys
The Brutalist
The Seed Of Sacred Fig
Megalopolis
The Outrun
Wild Robot
The Room Next Door

A Real Pain
Nightbitch
Civil War
Joker: Folie À Deux
Saturday Night
Babygirl
Inside Out 2
Flow
Wicked
Gladiator 2
Monkey Man
Challengers
Hit Man
Deadpool And Wolverine
Welcome back GOATs
Awesome Stream Absolutely loved your predictions
been waiting for months for this very moment… loveee
Kudos to Perri for mentioning the best film of the year I"ve seen thus far: "Strange Darling"! A great film that deserves recognition.
Yes! Blown Away by it, seen it twice now. Amazing film.
ITS BACK BABY!!!
SO good to have FYC back. Have missed it. Am also not convinced that "Dune 2" is out of BP contention, it's the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy all over again, and unless "Wicked Part !" tanks, it's a safe bet for all the reasons Perri brought up. As ever, you three are SO darned entertaining. Let the games begin.
Dune 2 not getting nominated for Best Picture is an odd prediction. It's even more bizarre that they are taking Gladiator II and Joker II more seriously even though we haven't seen them, and they are made by hit-or-miss directors. I know those sequels are releasing later in the year but that can't be enough to put them above Dune 2.
I love when the guys have their "boys" moments and Perri's just there waiting for her suffering to end haha. I feel you Perri
I 100% buy in to Sneider's Nosferatu nom, (btw, The Lighthouse is Oscar nominated) but not only does this feel like it has wider appeal, but it has the film pedigree from all the other Nosferatu adaptations before it going back to the silent era, I buy it.
Both Nosferatu 22/78 are high in my top ten greatest horror films ever made. I suspect 24 will be the same.
El Conde, a vampire film, also got a cinematography nomination last year. Nosferatu might get 1-2 tech things but not more
@@pb.j.1753 Hell son, Willem Dafoe ALREADY has an acting nomination for his turn as Orlock/Max Shrek in 2000's Shadow of the Vampire. It's entirely plausible a movie based on Nosferatu gets acting noms... since its happened already.
I think Civil War is going to sneak in, it will be seen as relevant enough and is made by a respected filmmaker that hasn’t really gotten major awards recognition before
I have a feeling that Conclave will be an absolute banger that people for some reason can't envision winning BP. So basically Banshees of Inisherin which is probably my favorite film of the decade so far.
I’m hearing good reviews on Joan Chen’s performance in DiDi. She could be a surprise best supporting actress nominee!
Scott and Perri: 💙💜🕊 😊😇
Strange Darling is a contender. Mostly for best actress for Willa Fitzgerald. Her performance was complex and nuanced. She has to win best actress.
I wish you were right as it’s my favorite movie of the year, Willa is beyond deserving, but the Academy isn’t touching this film anywhere
@@DavidPence-lr4kj I'm glad you also agree, many of us think she gave an outstanding and memorable performance. Why do think the Academy won't acknowledge it? Is it too independent, rarely seen and horror movies are not taken seriously? I would define it as a gory chase thriller.
I think Willa should be cast as Catwoman in the future. A film should be specifically created for her. Similar to Michelle Pfieffer's character actress vision of Catwoman (the best version) who blurs the line between victim and villian. This is what Willa was able to expertly achieve in Strange Darling. Very hard to do, not many actors are nuanced or multi dimensional in movies. The Academy has to recognise what she was able to achieve in her performance. It's way up there, ahead of everyone right now.
So glad FYC is back! I'm going to the Savannah Film Festival this fall and I'll be giving Perri, Scott and Jeff all my thoughts and analysis on the many of the Oscar contenders there.
No thanks
@@pb.j.1753 Shut up!
Let’s goooo we’re back and I’m excited for TIFF
Yayyyyy!! So glad my faves are back. Excited for another Oscar Season 🎉
Best day ever, FYC IS BACK!!!!!
Wicked’s soundtrack is so strong, I think it’ll capture the general public.
any reason why you guys didnt do emmy predictions this year? :(
Whatever happened to you guys getting a new group photo taken!? I think I remember talk of this a while ago. So glad you guys are back!
Glad to see this is back.
Saturday Night got some fantastic reviews. Hopefully it holds up
Does this girl have a crystal ball? How can she predict so much without watching the movies?
Also Nosferatu is a classic cinema esque film I think it has a stronger shot of getting in then ppl realize especially knowing eggers body of work I think people will nominate the film in a bunch of stuff. Idk about directing and writing but a best picture nomination in the year where any year could get 10 I think they'll want to celebrate the anniversary of the film and all it did for cinema given its reputation.that proceeds it
I think Dune 2 might be the only major release that gets nominated, the rest will be small releases. I think this year will be a big year for smaller releases for best picture noms.
There is no way three sequels are getting into Best Picture haha
SO glad to see FYC back! 😊
Although I did sense some reticence on Perri's part. 🙁
Sure, it is still early to prognosticate on what may be Oscar bait, it still should be fun to imagine! Who cares if one has not seen any of the possible movies yet!
It's all about talking about movies and awards and possibilities. Who cares if one is correct or not.
finally.. it's time of the season of the Oscars/awards season
Does anyone else thinks this year feels weak for Oscar films? I’m not really that interested in most of the movies being discussed. I think Anora looks really good but that’s about it
Speaking in the Dune discussion, it will 100% get a nomination, but I don’t really see it having a chance of winning. It’s great and everyone loves it, but was anyone really moved by it?
"The Brutalist" for Best Picture
Jeff was not having it when you guys doubted Dune 2 chances 😭😂
She obviously didn’t see Sunset Boulevard - 1994 broadway production with Glenn Close. NOW, THAT’S a production to see.
Are you guys going to colour coordinate for every show?? Please say yes!
If The Wild Robot wins People’s Choice at TIFF it’s for sure getting nominated
missed you three!
Glad FYC is back! 🎉🎉🎉
If you think the concept of My old ass is new you haven’t seen many Korean or Korean dramas they already done it. The original is called project makeover. It’s cute.
So thankful you guys are back! Here we go!
NEW FYC SEASON LETS GOOOO
