I would have also disconnected the connector for the Bag in the box syrup, the only reason I would have depressed the co2 inlet brass fitting is to verify no water is coming out of the fitting..if water is coming out of the fitting you have a defective check valve on the carbonator tank..

Have the air spitting out that little blue nozzle won't stop even if I plug the co2 back in it starts spitting air again out that hole
the same thing happened to me and i just bought a new flojet n-5000 and i just installed it and now it works perfect
