  • Admiral John Byng, Commander-in-Chief of the fleet in the Mediterranean, was blamed for the loss of Menorca to the French and court martialled. If found guilty of breaching the Articles of War, the court had no discretion. Their only option would be to order his execution.

    A bit like the Falklands war when we finally arrived there . Thank goodness for us having a few Islands under our command we must never consider leaving them whatevervthecpressure. What a history .

    The family is still fighting to this day to get his name cleared, I am related apparently on my fathers mothers side.
