Hope it's okay to quote this, about Jacob Collier's latest album. It's relevant to what was discussed in the show. "Djesse started off as an idea to do one massive album, which then grew to four factions of my musical universe. Volume four, which I’ve almost finished, is about the human voice. I started my journey as a musician by recording my own voice on top of itself, making these layers and chords. I’ve become really obsessed with the idea that everyone in the world has a voice, and every voice is different. I’ve been touring this whole year - about 80 shows - and at each show, I like to “conduct” the audience as a choir for the album. So, it’s a 100,000-strong voice choir populating the record. The feeling of conducting it is crazy, because you’re riding this huge wave of people. Everyone is a musician. Everyone inherently understands enough music to participate, if they’re guided in the right way. The thing that blows my mind is all the walks of life that converge at that moment - all these different perspectives on the world come together." -Jacob Collier via Vogue, (March 2023)
Ikea hack for cables. . Speaking of moving into a new place, I just did the same and had a chance to rethink some things. I used the brackets from Ikea meant to hold up the giant pipes that curtains with the metal loops slide on, to install some bars for hanging cables, and a second for midi cables and headphones. Just a bar, I used a pipe cutter but half a shower curtain or anything really works good and mine are white so they blend into the wall.
Re cables: I have lots of stacking IKEA boxes that have all the different ‘families’ of cables in them. I had enough of hanging them up. Too much hassle putting them all back. With boxes I just lay them all out on the floor and chuck whichever cable I’m tidying into its respective box. Also have 3 monster boxes for non modular, one for power, one for computer, one for other. Seems to work for me.
My favorite things from Moby are God Moving Over The Face Of The Water - the version from the Heat soundtrack with the happy ending - and him playing the new husband of Patrick Stewart's ex-wife in Blunt Talk. I liked the album Play, but the really messed-up thing is that I swear it didn't originally have that Gwen Stefani song when I first got it, and then it's like I had to watch it all go to hell and get aggressively pop-y. Literally two years after Play was released, they went back and released the Gwen Stefani single of South Side and it was so popular they pretended the original version didn't exist. It was messed up because it was an album that I listened to working out, then just about the time I was getting sick of it I got to hear the new version of South Side playing everywhere for about the next decade.

Really LOVE the idea of Gaz’ new records/label. It’s like an ECM free jazz kind of thing. ❤🔥🚀

And even though velcro is great , hair ties are everywhere in every store and they have proved to be less of a hassle than velcro ties.
