As someone who used to work at a shop that specialized in older mercedes diesel, those prices are right on point. If it was a work truck, you would look at cost of operation but if a purchase for personal enjoyment, cost of ownership is 100% subjective. The only question you have to ask is, is the money I'm spending worth the enjoyment I'm getting?
That’s sort of what I’m leaning to. I want to run this to the ground, it has 82k miles on it so I’ll try to get as long as I can out of it before going to an LS.

I’ve seen an LS swapped 944. That’s what I would do. Either way , sweet 944 turbo. I’ve always loved these as well as the 928.
