- Held on 16th November at Avoca Lake as part of The Lakes Festival, this transformative event celebrated the vital essence of water through the power of art, music, and community connection.
From sacred rituals and immersive soundscapes to joyous rhythms and moonlit dances, Wonders of Water wove together the talents of Central Coast artists in a captivating celebration of water’s timeless importance. Through live performances, breathtaking visual art, and ceremonial storytelling, the event honored water as the giver of life, a unifying force, and a source of healing and joy.
Artistic Highlights:
✨ Sacred Rituals to the Water - Smoking ceremony by Girri Girra, First Nations songs by Larry Gurruwiwi from the Galpu Clan holders of some of the oldest songs about water, and Ana Flavia’s stunning “Altar Para Las Aguas,” inviting collective blessings.
✨ The Sound of Water - A multisensory experience combining ancient instruments, water-inspired sounds, and fluid dance. Directed by Gabzak & Sophia Ndaba
✨ The Rhythm of Water - A dynamic interactive drumming and tap dance performance led by Hilton Denis and Marina Da Silva.
✨ The Parade of Laughter - A playful yet profound musical procession celebrating joy and laughter as sacred gifts. Directed by Alicia Gonzalez
✨ Moon Dance Finale - Live performances by Gabzak, Tygua, and Danny Telas under the full moon, blending Colombian rhythms with electric roots.
This breathtaking event brought together an incredible lineup of First Nations and CALD artists, showcasing their talents to celebrate water as the ultimate source of life and unity.
