►About the Game -
Greed Stays Home is a first-person horror walking simulator. The gameplay revolves around exploration and uncovering the details of the story. The game emphasizes atmosphere, building tension, creating a sense of fear, and jump scares. The average completion time is 50 minutes.
You play as a historian and treasure hunter. Since childhood, you've been fascinated by tales of lost paintings, gold taken during the war, and stolen jewels. However, so far, the only things you've managed to find are a few 19th-century coins and other items worth only a few pennies at the local antique shop.
For some time now, you've been researching the history of an aristocratic family from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, which lost a significant portion of its wealth due to a theft. The family never recovered financially after that loss. Friends and relatives were suspected, and bad luck was blamed. An innocent person was even wrongfully condemned. However, what truly captured your attention were the tragic events that unfolded in the nearby workers' village, nestled at the foot of the aristocratic estates, in the years following the theft-disappearances and other unsettling occurrences. Today, the village is nearly abandoned.
You've been wandering the area for the last few days, searching house after house. The few remaining locals give you suspicious looks, but no one bothers you. Who cares about crumbling, ownerless ruins and some lunatic with a backpack and a flashlight? Today is just another day and another house. Maybe this time, your dream will come true, and you'll find something worth more than an old shoe. And if not, at least you'll have another story to tell. After all, having a passion is what matters most.

I can't believe I have been watching you for 13 years. Keep up the great work. Your play through Call of Cthulhu is what got me hooked. Cheers.
Wow! That's amazing. Thanks for joining me for so long!
P.S. also, you have added fuck all to this Yankee's vocabulary. 😅
I was a little bit late, so for me it was Paranormal HK, but I haven't missed an upload since (unless it was a game I was definitely going to play i.e. Silent Hill 2 remake)
it's great you've watched CJU for so long. i myself have been watching since 2015 i think it was. first game i watched was called Araya if i remember right.
I can't believe Chris isn't a much much bigger channel than he is
"DOES THAT HAPPEN IN POLAND?" - as a certified Polish person, I can confirm.
Yup, happens on daily basis. As a second certified Polish person, I can confirm that
I like this one. I really appreciate that the ghosts are threatening but not just, mindlessly attacking because horror games need the protag to die, and that there is a way to escape the situation that fits with everything else built up.
And it did have some good atmosphere and pacing, and both some good scares and a sense of pacing to not just barrage the player.
Good game! Liked the living dead creatures. A nice departure from mannequins.
I hope one day that devs realise that while being unable to see can be scary in real life, in a game it's just really annoying. You have to know what you're doing to make darkness creepy in a game.
I like the premise of not just a haunted house but a haunted village. It was nice you could go shopping. Though who pays the electric bill on all these abandoned houses in every horror game? Thought this one looked good and was creepy. Thanks Chris!
The age old question of many.
Who lights the candles in the abandoned house?
Who has kept the torches lit for 100s of years in the secret underground haunted mines....
Who has paid and managed the electricity in a town that is older than a history book...
Perhaps one day...even we will get a game that explains these events.
@blubunny2217 That is indeed the age old question! 😁
Government provides free electricity and tax relief to the ghosts.
Man wish i could be a ghost.
Thanks! I love watching your videos CJU!! ❤
I absolutely love the fact that they put soot webs in the house. In the room that says “what have you done?” on the wall, right above in in front of that writing on that is soot webs!!
The soot webs are caused by fires! They just look like black spiderwebs. They’re really cool!! I’m at 9 1/2 minutes in, I wonder if there will be an explanation for the soot webs at some point during the play through!
Honestly, this was so good! It had all the good elements, decent story, good scares, extra creepy, and decent "puzzles". I loved watching this one. Thanks Chris!
Yes! I'm so happy! A 50- minute video today! Oh, you spoil us.
I wanna say I really appreciate you upping the gamma, another youtuber I watch did not do so; so I missed a lot on watching them.
This game is freaking terrifying. Good job!
I really liked this one. Great sound and good jumpscares. The slowly rising corpses in the end were quite creepy too. My only problem is how dark it is at places. A game shouldn't be so dark that it hurts your eyes trying to see something.
Ahh, i was just watching all the depressing stuff going on here in my fair country and went to subs and saw this! I can now sit back with a beer and enjoy the next hour! Love ya, brother and please never stop with your vids! ❤
This was a good game! It's rare that you find a scary game of this level (AA) that has such good models (maybe mocap was used in places--?), plus the textures and lighting (when you had enough!) were also good. Super game and playthrough!
actually giving the player a choice? the option to do the right thing? 10/10 game
This was a good illustration of liking the premise more than the execution. This wasn't bad, just a bit slow and very awkward at times (the mechanics, mostly). Also, like "Befriended Curse", this was often too dark : dark isn't scary, it's just annoying ^^ Like Chris mentioned, the sound was the highlight here.
What a quaint, charming little town! 😅 I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay 🤪
Damn, this player character has nerves of steel.
4:52 Chris silently begrudges that an outhouse has no chance of flushing.
Thank you Chris ❤
I really liked this one. The atmosphere was good. I really was hoping to learn more about the people and maybe explore more of the town. 😁👍
20:38 OH DAMN, I don't jump from jumpscares in let's plays, but this one got a full body reaction out of me! What a great suspense in this game! It really got me invested
Ohh, new game, fresh out of the editing booth.
Always one of my favorite youtube streamers. Cant wait for the full game of the demo you recently played of Gummy, thats gonna be a good one.
Really enjoyed this, thanks for sharing! The scares in this were awesome, and the sound design was amazing. Thank u for keeping us entertained CJU!
I like this game! The movements of the bodies at the end were both mysterious and puts the viewer on edge
Note to Future Self: Do not watch CJU play scary games while running on the treadmill, you will get jump-scared so hard you fall off.😅
The jumpscares worked well in this one ! Just like you said, the sounds are really good and played a huge part in this. I found the story interesting, but lacking a little bit, which made it sound a little bit « too ordinary » to me. It was not the highlight of the game, and maybe it was not meant to be the center point in the first place, because the rest of the game is good. I liked the environment, the house, the way it looked. The « distractions » that bring the jumpscares, like the rats for example, were a good strategy ! I liked the fact that the dead really want you to escape instead of caging you in immediately - they give you a chance, maybe because they didn’t get any themselves. But if you don’t take that chance, well, you get the « greedy » ending. Pretty cool !
Overall, yeah, not an extraordinary game, but a good one, with a few nice points. I really enjoyed watching you play, Chris. As always, thanks for sharing your experience ! Take care, and see you in your next video !
the jumps in this one were v e r y effective!! def a protag i yelled at from frame one tho.
Not First! Thanks for the excellent video, as always.
Chris, I've been meaning to ask (and you've probably answered this elsewhere already), but how do you find and pick which games you're going to play and feature on the channel? What kind of criteria do you have that makes you say "Yeah, this looks like it'll make a good video?" You always seem to find games I never would've been able to stumble across.
Fuses - I
Mannequins - II
AI "Art/Voicework" - I
Bathroom - I
Cats - II
As jank as it might have been at times, this one avoided adding any ticks to the list! Color me impressed! VERY good sound design, it never felt like you were truly safe or alone.
Excellent indie game ! Great jumpscares, a short but real story, many clues to not get lost and awesome sound design. Thanks for the pick !
Am I the only one seeing the green corruptions in these videos? This time it's around 28:56 - with no fade edit in sight this time... It happens when I rewind and go back, in the exact same way and happens across multiple devices so it's not my computer. It's happening more and more often in the videos - and only on this channel too.
CJ I hope your drives are doing ok 😅
New video! Awesome! I'm so ready
Yay ❤ I am here on time 😊
Wasn't expecting an upload today! How cool...makes for a great way to unwind after my horrible jon 😱
I guess as a "treasure hunting" (aka thieving) historian 😆, the protagonist actually had a reason for prowling an abandoned building at night. _That's_ different! And, the desiccated-body spirits were justified too. The atmosphere was creepy and the sound design was effective, if a little over-the-top, imo. I also liked the way there was often misdirection before a jump scare. A couple of them actually got me because of it. I liked how elaborate the "leave now" ending was, as well. Could use some polish but, overall, not bad. 👍
Is it really thievery if the residents are either dead or they abandoned the home? I guess the spirits think so, and i don't blame them because if I was dead and a spirit/ghost i definitely would haunt the "treasure hunter" helping themselves to my stuff 😂.
@@isabellanoble1280 Hahaha! Me too! I kinda feel that unless you're sifting through the actual trash or salvaging an ancient shipwreck, you're stealing. Or, at the _very_ least, you're taking advantage of someone else's unfortunate circumstances. I had someone "treasure hunt" 😂in my home after a disaster, and if I'd caught 'em they would have had to treasure hunt for their family jewels, if you catch my meaning.🤣🤣🤣
@@Scriptor13I guess that's true and a fair point. Also, I'm sorry you had that happen to you. Lol, I would do the same to a "treasure hunter," although i probably would end up in jail soon afterward due to the laws in Canada. At least I would get some satisfaction.
@@isabellanoble1280 At the very least, one should ask permission of the dead. It's just common courtesy.
If you can't respect the dead, you can never respect yourself.
That's my motto.
@@isabellanoble1280 Thank you for caring, Isabella. No loved ones were hurt in the disaster and, in the end, that was what mattered.
Canada? In what part of that lovely Dominion do you live (you don't need to answer if that's too intrusive)? I LOVE Canada and have wandered around and across it several times. Also, may I live with you, at least until 2028??! 😆😂🤣
Nice new horor game about curse treasure
I would kill for Chris's t-shirt ...
Interesting game! It looks good, too. I wonder if you want to play another games from the dev? New Face on the Block and UnFOrgettable Encounters sounds fun
I love horror games that have the best jump scares. Am I the only one who thought of I’m Counting To 6 when they showed the outside of the house? The gate also reminded me of I’m Counting To 6 and Father’s Day. CJ you always find the best games to play. Are you going to play Poppy Playtime Chapter 4? That’s the one I’m most looking forward to. 😂😂❤❤❤
buying thigs from an abandoned village, interesting. 🤔 also, it doesn't seems to be that abandoned after all. 😂 but yeah, great playthrough like always cju.
edit: coming back to say about a green screen glitch everytime you read a letter and by the end of the game as well, that's weird tho.
I love that shirt. It's adorable.
finally a game for those of us that like to seek out mostly abandoned European villages and sleep on their kitchen floors
Yup! Such things do happen in your typical polish countryside, ghosts and nosey neighbours...
Actually neighbours would be more common. Anyway, in some parts of the country you can really encounter mostly abandoned villages.
Hey CJU! I am your big big fan. I love playing these types of games myself and really like your humour too. I just wanted to say that there is a game called HELLSEED, I was wondering if we could get a video of you playing it. Thankyou!
This was good… all these games are kinda blending together for me lately though lol I miss the kind of horror fps games.. or kinda adventure games with horror elements… the kind where you have a gun or a weapon and can fight back, do puzzles and craft… feels like it’s been years since you played a really good one
I liked this game. Thx, Chris.
26:57 I thought exactly the same 😅 it's like Silent Hill
I come here for the “right… rrrriiights…” 3:53 Yes! That creepy broad was in the window
Very cool game. I think you should take the money you got from selling the bracelet and buy a good flashlight!
16/20 i think the better since new year 😊
I paused this video because something in this game reminded me of Resident Evil 7. That big pot.
You finally founded a flashlight 28 minister later. ☺️👍🏻
More, are you going to play the other two 😊 thank you
Ah, a CJU game. I'm sure nothing scary at all will happen ever. :)
Scary? Here?! Absolutely not!! 💜🖤💜
Hmm I’m going to predict that the farmer is a red herring “villain”
Is your shirt a cat riding a trex?? I need one!
I thought the same thing! 🦖
Some of these jumpscare worked very well 😅
Nice little game
Let’s gooo!!!!
Greed Stays Home...and eats crackers on your bed, leaves the toilet seat up, and insists on talking through every movie. Greed is a horrible roommate.
Chris, please pay Butcher’s Creek !
🥺🥺 You should place the New snake 🐍 plushie on the opposite side of the original so we can see Him better 💗💗💗
love you man
This atmosphere reminds me of Little Hope from the Dark Pictures Anthology
Polish names - so this game must be made by polish people also. It's creepy and interesting, I'm proud!
Did they slip in a Demolition Man reference In the list of people who were murdered? Entries 2-4 are "MDK', the same initials for a murder in Demolition Man's future utopia.
This remind anyone else of Resident Evil: the Village? 😂
Greed should moisturize.
Greed stays home.
Is it just me or did anyone else notice some green flshes while chris was reading the pages?
yeah something has been corrupting his videos for a while. It used to only happen on fade edits but now it seems like it's just happening whenever
Hello Chris. This one was good. I am curious to know if you have it in your plans to play among ashes? I believe you played the demo to it and from what I can gather, the full game is now available and I remember really liking the game within a game concept in that one.
He did play it! About a month ago I think :) its a great playthrough
@@dankjellybean I agree with you 100 percent. I went back and located his playthrough of Among Ashes and it was fantastic. I really enjoy his sense of humor and his commentary as he plays the game.
28:55 i tought my GPU just died. Almost had a heart attack
yeah something has been corrupting his videos for a while. It used to only happen on fade edits but now it seems like it's just happening whenever
HI Chris 👋👋❤❤❤
i recognize the setting now its from the other game
"Hello". Like Fooster.
Also how come the rich don't get punished?
This is kinda like the other game, SAUSAGE, if it had an actual story to it.
First(great vid)
those boards look so flimsy. you realistically didn’t need a crowbar or any other tool. just kicking them would have worked lol
Hello i’m the only Fan lover of 👉🏽🐿️
#Squishi
Hey @CJU - can you please put a flash warning on this video? Those green flashes when you're reading notes and towards the end are a bit startling.
If I'm not mistaken, there's another ending to this game.(Spoiler) They give you a choice to leave without taking the treasure in the attic
Are you going to play Poppy Playtime Chapter 4?
I'm hoping to play it and record it soon.
@ Okay.
Right off the village looks like a sewer or a dump or both.
Well now I also want to know if this happens in poland
chris please play HAPUNAN its a filipino horror game 😟😟
I like his Asian indie horror gameplays best, the ones where you learn more folklore than the typical European or North American settings provide.
💜
So, like is it actually 0 players?? Beyond the wire..?? Then won't they jump on the other server like World of Warships because they also did a centennial anyways?? But don't we have an Information War channel where it like automatically dumps you out of it because of like the WW1 horse gas mask and everything..??
I can confirm this is indeed Polish
20:21, 38:45
PLAY POPPYPLAYTIME C4
FIRST!
decent one
second.
It was OK to me it was too bland Needed extra seasoning to it
I love you dude but I'm not really interested in another creepy girl ghost game 😒
I hate these walk sim movement speed thats like your dragging something heavy strap to you.
ive just finished playing this its good needs tweaking a bit here and there
