There has been much debate about how to say the word 'Toronto.' As the locals believe, you never pronounce the second 'T.' So Narcity asked all the celebrities we spoke to at the Toronto International Film Festival how they pronounce the name of the festival host city, and boy, were the answers a mixed bag!

Esse vídeo é muito ridículo..., a língua inglesa é tão bonita mas esse vídeo ensina a não valorizá-la. Esse vídeo defende a não pronúncia do "t", em um idioma cujos muitos dialetos já não pronunciam o "r" e nem o "h". O caminho para uma nova língua começa assim primeiro omite-se o "r", depois o "T" , depois o "H" e quando pensar que não já não se pronuncia mais nenhuma consoante e aí já não é mais inglês.

"Turahno" isn't the "correct" pronunciation, it's just same old habit of north americans dropping the T after Ns, like in HunTer and WinTer. Because of how it is spelled, you are supposed to say the second T.

This isn't a thing. Many, many born and bred Torontonians pronounce the 2nd 'T'. It's true, most don't, but many do. And I can't remember a single person ever calling it 'Taranna' who wasn't joking. It's like suggesting that saying New Orleans is wrong, because you're supposed to say 'NAW-lins'. Silly video.

Voyons Jean, c'est pas parce que Toronto a un style nord-américain qu'il n'y a pas de beaux édifices ou quartiers.
La Distillerie, l'édifice du Carlu, le musée Aga Khan, l'édifice de City Hall, Les tours TD noires créées par Mies Van der Rohe, le Flat iron building, le magnifique Harris Water Treatment Plant, le pont Prince Edward Viaduc.. Broadview Hotel, Les beaux quartiers sympathiques The Junction.. Etc.
