      Very kind of you to say. Takes so long to build subs. I've rededicated myself...will see how I do from now. Thanks for the kind words and encouragement.

    Awesome video! Love the way you broke every step down in detail. This should definitely help me get my setup together!! Thank you!

    A very helpful demonstration of setting up a plate and harness (the best on YT in fact, which becomes clear in Part 2 😏)...I'm setting up my first this weekend. Much appreciated. I'm curious, if one is using a standard recreational hose configuration (no long hose 2nd stage), where/how do you clip-off one's octo?

      Hey, JB. Thanks for the show of support. Glad the videos helped 👍. I do have folks use traditional regs and just clip off the spare reg to to one of the front chest d-rings (wiht an appropriate, detachable clip system).

    Nice one! Really like the idea of those scuba xs pockets in case you need a bit of extra lead for warm water diving. Also much cheaper and than the standard integrated weight system from most manufacturers.

      They are nice. A great value, too, compared to other offerings.

    Just found your channel (5-2-2019) but wanted to make a quick comment about when you were talking about putting your cannister light on the waist strap. I use to do that then looking at all the holes on the backplate right and left edge. I bought some small carabiners (really small) that would fir through the holes. On the cannister I used 2 worm clamps to hold two (top and bottom) small d-rings. This way I can clip the cannister into the back plate and a side benefit is the cannister is protected under my arm and below the tank. My light has a top switch so I inverted it so I could easily reach the switch.

    If the diver using Backplate setup for recreation diving ONLY, does the crotch strap is necessary? can the diver dives without it?

    • @DiscoveryDiversTokyo
      @DiscoveryDiversTokyo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good Q. Actually, a feature of all back-inflate BCs is that on the surface, when inflated, they tend to push the diver's face forward when approaching full inflation. This is one reason why the crotch strap is useful. It keeps the bladder as close to the diver as possible, reducing this face-forward tendency at the surface. Avoiding full inflation at the surface is also advised.

      Lol, many thanks for the view and comment, G3. This is a green screen, although I have 1 or 2 well-off friends in Tokyo that do have space like this.

    Nice video. Where do you get the Neoprene Sleeves from?

      They came from HOG (I"m a dealer) but you can also use rubber inner tube sections.

    Nice video! Would you tell me the measure of the rubber inner tube? It’s a motorcycle one? A bicycle?
    Thanks. Greetings from Spain!

      Hi Brian. Thanks for watching. I've built about 20 o these rigs over the last handful of years. So far, I can highly recommend the HOG combo. 👍
