Mendez March it seems can't distinguish between digital remote work visa for tourists and WFH value for NZers. For NZers our employers foot the bill if these workers fail to prove as productive as those in the office. The caveat of course is this is only true for those in the private not public service workspace. We have increased the public service workforce and allowed considerable WFH opportunities without seeing a corresponding increase in productivity and this Green MP needs to understand that nz taxpayers are paying for this increase and naturally expect a corresponding increase in productivity.

Not fair for others only very small population make that money. She should put her self in those people shoes how she if someone not let her parents live with them . When the grand kids ask why our grandparents can't live with us permanently. I seen lots of kids crying for grandparents. God is watching that karma will come back one day.

    • @PamelaAttwood

The migrant grandparents have to support themselves. Or have adult children to support them.
Why should New Zealand pay for a pension for these people? Many migrants can never afford to support their parents here fully. Pay for Healthcare, food and housing. So that is why NZ has generous Visitors Visa.
Also some have had their parents come here and left them behind when they go to Australia or Canada.
The Immigration Ministry has made it very clear how long you have to be in the country to receive a pension and what is the retirement age.

@@anne-mareeosborne8718 some migrants have come to gain residency and then as planned brought their Parents by sponsorship to NZ.
Some migrants then have gone to Australia, to earn higher salaries, in particular knowing that Australian Immigration Policy is much stricter on migrants over the age of 55 therefore they can not follow.

Are migrants not allowed to be cheeky???
I spend a lot of time with tourists - the cheeky I have to deal with is phenomenal, and most of that is from an ex-mainlander business person???

There is a difference between being cheeky and being outright disrespectful. Especially when it was the greens who were involved in the migrant exploitation.
