  • Hi, my name is Katie. Also, known as myhitlife.
    Thank you again for your support on my A Day in the Life of a SAP Consultant vlog. Since then you have asked questions and I hope I have delivered! All questions are welcome! Here I was asked questions regarding a SAP Consultant Career Cycle. Traveling and hotel living is great when you're young and single, but what happens when you want to settle down & have a family? Here I talk about different options regarding getting a permanent role in SAP and how easy it actually is!
    Please note I do not work for SAP. I am a SAP Consultant for a Consultancy firm which implements SAP technology. I thought I would simply share this helpful information for those of you not within the SAP space looking for some answers. Again all questions are welcomed.

I share all my knowledge and I'm extremely authentic. I even go live every day on IG and Facebook.

      Eliot Arrowsmith thank you so much Eliot for taking time out of your day to watch & comment. Honestly it’s my pleasure to help people! I accidentally fell into the SAP vlogs. People on tiktok wanted to know what I do for a living so I created a couple of vlogs. Then lots of questions came. If I help 1 person get a better life I’ll be happy! I didn’t know about SAP until I accidentally fell into the industry. I was an economics graduate so happy to pay it forward

    Glad I came accross your channel. Soon I will be interviewing a possition as an ERP consultant. Your video's are just perfect in how you explain what the job is like, thank you! One question thou, what is the avarage yearly salary based on a ft job of such a consultant?

      Hi, if you are applying for a Graduate SAP program within the UK the average starting salary can range from £25,000 - £31,000. You would generally get pay rises each year as well then. As on a graduate path you have a designed career path. Then after that it's everyone's game ha. If you are willing to company hoop your salary will increase more quickly. And depends how you tackle your career path. If you stay in one area you are more likely to get paid higher salary as you are a specialist. Plus you get then go contracting just make sure you get E2E project cycles from design to go live. Daily rate can range from £350 - £750 a day depending on your module. I would say with 5 years experience + you should be on more than £50,000 and that is expected. I'm only say 5-6 years into my career so I haven't done research on the next steps. But it is very likely you could earn £100,000 a year if you are extremely ambitious and willing to put in the work and move if needed. Never be afraid to google and ask! Every Consultant salary is based on their experience and they're willingness to ask for it. Hope this helps :)

      Renata DW happy to help. The importance is to not chase money as it’s pretty much guaranteed in the SAP world. Just make sure you do a job you enjoy. For example even though project management can give me a better salary I’m avoiding it as I like being a functional consultant. This may limit my salary to a point but I’m happy and will have a lot more free time. With this free time I could do something I love yo earn that extra income I want. Happy to help!

    Thank you Katie for your informative video! I have a question! I've been using SAP over 6years as customer service/senior and Compliance in a corporation and now i want to do some SAP courses in Coursera to get certificate and learn about SAP consultant to apply for consultant job. Is it a good plan and is it possible to get to this position considering my experience? :)

      @myhitlife  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, what module of SAP are you using?
      End user experience is always a plus and there are numerous roles in SAP. Including live service support as well. Checkout my video of a day in the life of a functional consultant. The day in the life would be different to a live service support consultant. Therefore, requirements are different
      Think intentionally of what area of SAP you’d want to go into. Aka do you want to continue the current module?
      I would start applying for roles now & consider taking a lower pay if sap functional consultant. Live service you maybe okay.
      Good news tho there is sap recruitment consultants themselves you could find on LinkedIn to help guide you as well. I have met people like yourselves but they join either on the grad scheme or as a consultant lower pay etc

      Hi Arya, try to find a Consultancy company with a 3 days on project site and 2 days working from home. Alternatively companies which accept a work from home culture. Or alternatively a permanent position i.e. a SAP SD Consultant which will be in one destination (so no traveling to projects). There are many options there. It will just require you to look around more.

      @myhitlife  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Zeeshan Chaudhry hey! I’ve just messaged my friend from SAP for some advice on this. Hopefully can get you a comprehensive answer. Regarding the latest in SAP tools. Could you define this please? Like are you a developer or functional? Would you be focusing on updates within a certain module with each release? It is cloud or on premise base?

    • @zichaudhry_
      @zichaudhry_ 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      myhitlife thanks for your response. I’m FICO functional consultant and working on ECC 6 but keen to learn S4HANA premise or cloud. I’m trying to read as much as I can but without practicing its very hard to get a grip on it

    • @myhitlife
      @myhitlife  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Zeeshan Chaudhry S/4 HANA is made up of two different types of landscapes. On premise & within the cloud. Therefore, to stay up to date with on premise releases simply read up on the release notes.
      On premise solution compared with the multiple tenant cloud solution is a complete kettle of fish. Again release notes. No need to pay. Quite frankly would be very difficult to keep up with if you aren’t on a project. Within the cloud solution if you’re certified they make you redo your certification 4 times a year to keep up with the release.
      I would focus first on what industry you’re likely to work in in the future to then decide your efforts. Example if the industry requires lots of customized developments away from the standard then I’d stay focus on reading up on the on premise release notes. Looking at Open SAP FICO courses.
      If the industry you’re looking to work is will stick to standard with minimum development then look into the multiple tenant cloud. If you look at rapid.sap.com/bp/
      You can see that areas are split into scope items.
      Within the best practice explorer they have options to view on premise and cloud solutions as well.
      Always best & easiest way to keep up is being on a project. But awesome about you keeping proactive on this! Always good to sign up for SAP newsletters & email updates regarding releases within FICO.
      Open SAP has some beginning courses as well explaining the difference between cloud & on premise solution. Plus TH-cam videos I’d recommend. But first focus on whether which industry is your future to decide your focus. Atm with no current project that’s the easiest route to go.
      I hope it helps! Let me know if you need more information and I’ll look at reaching out to one of my fico colleagues.

      myhitlife Hi Katie, very comprehensive answer I really appreciate. I haven’t started reading notes yet but I’m following few Open sap courses which are very helpful. I didn’t get about selection of industry as you don’t know what sort of industry you are going to work in future but yeah definitely can start on the industry I’m working at the moment.

      Hopefully my friend you would’ve completed a project life cycle in that time. Try to get certified. I would create a tracker to write down all the tasks you’ve done which you could then try to push for a promotion. But you maybe a bit off. So get the tracker and build your case up ready. Each year have goals, but also push for feedback on how you can improve. Go after this feedback often not just when needed for end of year.

    How can in increase my chances of getting abroad jobs!

    • @myhitlife
      @myhitlife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A MBA isn't needed for a SAP Graduate scheme, but that maybe enough to boast your application if you want to study abroad. I would reach out to the companies and ask them. As I know some companies don't do SAP Graduate schemes with visa's. When you start in SAP for graduates with no experience you join a SAP graduate scheme. I know SAP themselves does a fresher scheme. Sorry I can't help more.

      @@rajatgupta5984 MBA isn't needed for a SAP grad scheme job. So it wouldn't push you any further. 1 year wouldn't give you much at all. You would be better joining the grad scheme. Project life cycles matter more. Again I would reach out to recruiters and get their advice and see if grad scheme's take international students.

    • @myhitlife
      @myhitlife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Never be afraid to embrace the latest SAP upgrades to functionality. Keep updated in your field and think of the future. Client wise explain things simply and always aim to educate them for successful handovers. This will help build trust and also, massively reduce your workload during testing phases if your client equivalent is up to date. That is of course my opinion though.
