Congrats on receiving the sambo visa! One thing that it's even more important than the maintenance requirement is that the person living in Sweden has to be a permanent resident or a swedish citizen.
Actually that is not fully true, as if you are a student on a student visa, or on a work visa, you could actually apply for your family to come for the duration. The interview exemption is probably based on country of origin as well as how well established the relationship is. My wife and I have been together for over 5,5 years, she's been in Sweden for 4 years, we've shared an apartment for one of those four years. Still interview was required in Shanghai.
Don’t know how much is due to Morgan being American, as we have helped many Americans and have so far not heard about anyone being exempted from an interview who hasn’t been in a very long with marriage and kids etc. But even couples with that sort of background has been called, so it’s all just about who you get as a case officer and how you plead your case. Thank you so much, we really appreciate it :) Yes you may ask to conclude your case after 6 months. From the people we've talked to and the experiences from the facebook group that we mention in the video, is that you shouldn’t do this unless you’ve had the interview. We didn’t have an interview, and did there by not fully explore the option of concluding. If we would have had an interview we would have most probably asked to conclude. We would have waited for 2 weeks after the interview though, if immigration was ready to give a decision right away. We will link the form below aswell! One can actually apply for a 90 days visit visa from countries that aren't visa free,a visit visa won't be considered another permit, the only thing that can't happen is a decision being made while one is in Sweden, but a visa application is possible

I have a work permit in Sweden and recently I got married in Brazil. The processes you explained are valid for my case too? I mean, I am not swedish, I only have a work permit visa. I want to bring my spouse here.

Hey Alex! Well it all depends on what you mean. A work permit locks you into a certain kind of job, and limits you in some way a family reunification permit doesn’t. But also, registering a marriage made outside of Sweden with the Swedish tax authorities is rather simple. Send a validated copy of the original certificate, together with copies of the two peoples passport. Send us a message if you have any more questions :) //M&W

Hej both, congrats on the postive decision! Me and my boyfriend are applying and he has a job but it does not reach the maintenance requirement. However he does own funds (fonder) that exceeds the amount needed for 24 months. Just want to ask question since I suppose you had the same situation, is it able to use the funds to prove the maintenance requirement without having to sell them? I read on the facebook group and it seems you did the same thing, so maybe you could help. (Boyfriend said he was pretty sure they’d accept it but I happened to scroll too much in the group and seems like people have different answer so I’m very worried)

Currently awaiting a decision to move to my partner in sweden, I had my interview almost 2 months ago on April 27th 2023. Since then they've requested additional information 2 times for pay slips of my partner's earnings, she started a new job just before I had my interview and mentioned this during the interview. Today, June 15th 2023, she received a letter to her residence informing her of an additional phone call investigation? Any ideas what this could be about or heard of anything like this happening to others?

Yes Morgan is now a temporary resident for the next two years. To become a citizen she has to be a temporary resident for 3 years, before becoming a permanent resident. We think it's after 5 years in total in Sweden you can start the process towards citizenship, but that's far down the road so don't know too much about it. Are you thinking about it?? //M&W

Hi guys, your video helped me a lot! I have a question the same day that the process begins, that same day I have to upload the other information such as salary, work contract, etc. to the MV email? does it have to be the same day? or can it be a week later? Do you think showing wages is enough? or also show savings? and bank accounts too? thank you!!
We are so happy that the video helped you, makes it all worth it to us! We recommend like we say in the video to have all of those prepared so you can upload them on that very same day. Then it goes straight into your case and you won't have to go the way around things and email the generic email, where you most of the time don't get an answer or confirmation that they have received the email and added the documents to your case. Which stressed us out! So better to be safe than sorry and just add it in straight away. However, after adding them in straight away, you can with more confidence send the updates to the generic email to add to your already built case. Will added everything regarding savings, housing etc in the initial questionnaire, just to add it to the case straight away! You can either apply with savings, or earnings (or a combo bu that's more risky). As long as your wages hits the set amount you are all good, but I would also just add the saving to show that I ALSO have this. But specify that you are mainly applying with wages :) //M&W

Read below about the different sums: For 2024 the amount you must have left after the accommodation costs are paid is SEK 6,090 for a single adult SEK 10,061 for cohabiting spouses or cohabiting partners SEK 3,255 for children 0-6 years of age SEK 3,906 for children 7-10 years of age SEK 4,558 for children 11-14 years of age SEK 5,208 for children 15 years of age or older.

So glad it could help you, and we will try to answer you as much as we can. They did ask us about it down the line, basically needed a written statement from our landlord that she would be allowed in the apartment. If this was due to the fact that its a student apartment, we don't know, but she is also on the contract so it confused us a bit. MV asks for proof of your relationship and the way people prove this is showing chatlogs with a variety of dates, pictures from different parts of your relationship, and tickets/bookings with both your names on. Hello, do we need to attach a cover letter kind of thing with detailed information about the application when we submitting the documents in online !? And also we need mention each document what's that !?
If you mean telling your story you do that within the online application. In the last step you add documents, and there’s also a place where you can write a note/comment where you can explain what the different documents are. For example: pictures from relationship - a pdf with a collection of pictures from our relationship. Dated and with a small description.

Hey you! Sorry for the late reply, totally missed this comment. You can’t predict how long a process will take, as it’s different for everyone. It has a multitude of different variables. What your relationship looks like, how much time you’ve spent together and what country of origin you have and how busy that embassy is. Stay safe and take care of each other 🤍

Hey guys.. congratulations for both of you..! I had my application last year November and it's my 8 month now of waiting I asked my husband to call migrationsverket and they said until now no one look after ur case so basically no case number yet.. I got no response at all and me and my husband wanted to live together so bad and we feel that all month passing by being apart is tormenting..what's your advice to me to do to help the process faster now.. ? My husband is swedish.. does it make even slower of the process as I heard EU category is way faster and easy..
Its a tricky one as we want both our families from Europe and America to attend, so first we need to figure out where. We sort of want it in Copenhagen, but then the questions regarding travel and so on comes into place. So right now not a set date, but hopefully soon 🌸 have a great weekend!

There is no set time, as the agency understands that people have different timeframes of setting up the move/picking up documents from embassy etc. We always say as soon as possible, as you want to start your life in Sweden and go through all the next steps in your journey :)

That’s amazing! Depends on your country and your embassy. Anything from a couple of days, to 2 weeks. Most people contact their embassy and try to figure out how long. We didn’t receive one as Morgan hadn’t had an interview and left biometrics, so she traveled with the decision and left fingerprints and sign here in Sweden at MV. After that it took roughly a week for us to receive it :) good luck and let us know if you have any more questions! //M&W
Are you applying to go to Sweden, or are you the partner in Sweden? If you are the partner in Sweden you have to send an email to migrationsverket@migrationsverket.we with your new contract, floor plan etc to prove it still lives up to the maintenance requirements. If you are the partner, you just need to send an email and say you’ve moved so you’ll get the decision to the right adress.

As you may decide to move back to Sweden together, it is not always necessary for the Swedish party to be currently living in Sweden when the application is made, as long as the partner can show clear and valid intensions on having the opportunity to move back. This could be a work contract, a purchase/rental agreement etc. If you’ve lived together for +2 years outside of Sweden you may skip the maintenance requirements according to the new law of 2021, however this is only assessed down the process. Hi guys, the information is not correct about the countries that needs a visa . You CAN visit your partner while waiting , what you cant do is to wait for a decision in Sweden (after interview).
Thanks for you comment Kate! We never state that in the video, as what you say is correct. Maybe we could have made that clearer. But what we rather focus on is that you shouldn’t, and why. Which is like everything in this video our opinion and experience, and not legal advice towards anyone who seeks it. What we tried to convey in the video (10:00-10:42), that you can visit from a visa free country without consequence towards the process, while if you visit from a country that requires visa we wouldn’t recommend it as it gets your residency application paused due to immigration not being able to process two visas at the same time. Further more we quite clearly describe the difference between the investigation and decision time, and how you can be in Sweden during the investigation part, but not during the decision part. As that is crucial when you can and when you should avoid visit to not delay your decision. If you need any more clarification/help I’m happy to answer anything, both here and in private message. From the people we've talked to and the experiences from the facebook group that we mention in the video, is that you shouldn’t do this unless you’ve had the interview. We didn’t have an interview, and did there by not fully explore the option of concluding. If we would have had an interview we would have most probably asked to conclude. One can actually apply for a 90 days visit visa from countries that aren't visa free,a visit visa won't be considered another permit, the only thing that can't happen is a decision being made while one is in Sweden, but a visa application is possible

I have a work permit in Sweden and recently I got married in Brazil. The processes you explained are valid for my case too? I mean, I am not swedish, I only have a work permit visa. I want to bring my spouse here.
Usually you can add your spouse onto your work visa, however we don’t have a lot of experience with this. Wish we could give you a better answer! 🌻
I am so happy for you. Just a question here: Wouldn't it be maybe a bit easier to get a work permit first, and then register the marriage when in Sweden? I am wondering if that would eliminate the whole maintenance and other annoying requirements.

Hey Alex! Well it all depends on what you mean. A work permit locks you into a certain kind of job, and limits you in some way a family reunification permit doesn’t. But also, registering a marriage made outside of Sweden with the Swedish tax authorities is rather simple. Hej both, congrats on the postive decision! Me and my boyfriend are applying and he has a job but it does not reach the maintenance requirement. However he does own funds (fonder) that exceeds the amount needed for 24 months. Just want to ask question since I suppose you had the same situation, is it able to use the funds to prove the maintenance requirement without having to sell them? I read on the facebook group and it seems you did the same thing, so maybe you could help.
(Boyfriend said he was pretty sure they’d accept it but I happened to scroll too much in the group and seems like people have different answer so I’m very worried)

Currently awaiting a decision to move to my partner in sweden, I had my interview almost 2 months ago on April 27th 2023. Since then they've requested additional information 2 times for pay slips of my partner's earnings, she started a new job just before I had my interview and mentioned this during the interview. Today, June 15th 2023, she received a letter to her residence informing her of an additional phone call investigation? Any ideas what this could be about or heard of anything like this happening to others?

Yes Morgan is now a temporary resident for the next two years. To become a citizen she has to be a temporary resident for 3 years, before becoming a permanent resident. We think it's after 5 years in total in Sweden you can start the process towards citizenship, but that's far down the road so don't know too much about it. Are you thinking about it?? //M&W

We are so happy that the video helped you, makes it all worth it to us! We recommend like we say in the video to have all of those prepared so you can upload them on that very same day. Then it goes straight into your case and you won't have to go the way around things and email the generic email, where you most of the time don't get an answer or confirmation that they have received the email and added the documents to your case. Which stressed us out! So better to be safe than sorry and just add it in straight away. However, after adding them in straight away, you can with more confidence send the updates to the generic email to add to your already built case. Will added everything regarding savings, housing etc in the initial questionnaire, just to add it to the case straight away! You can either apply with savings, or earnings (or a combo bu that's more risky). As long as your wages hits the set amount you are all good, but I would also just add the saving to show that I ALSO have this. But specify that you are mainly applying with wages

For 2024 the amount you must have left after the accommodation costs are paid is
SEK 6,090 for a single adult
SEK 10,061 for cohabiting spouses or cohabiting partners
SEK 3,255 for children 0-6 years of age
SEK 3,906 for children 7-10 years of age
SEK 4,558 for children 11-14 years of age
SEK 5,208 for children 15 years of age or older.

So glad it could help you, and we will try to answer you as much as we can. They did ask us about it down the line, basically needed a written statement from our landlord that she would be allowed in the apartment. If this was due to the fact that its a student apartment, we don't know, but she is also on the contract so it confused us a bit. MV asks for proof of your relationship and the way people prove this is showing chatlogs with a variety of dates, pictures from different parts of your relationship, and tickets/bookings with both your names on. Hello, do we need to attach a cover letter kind of thing with detailed information about the application when we submitting the documents in online !? And also we need mention each document what's that !?
If you mean telling your story you do that within the online application. In the last step you add documents, and there’s also a place where you can write a note/comment where you can explain what the different documents are. For example: pictures from relationship - a pdf with a collection of pictures from our relationship. Dated and with a small description.

Hey you! Sorry for the late reply, totally missed this comment. You can’t predict how long a process will take, as it’s different for everyone. It has a multitude of different variables. What your relationship looks like, how much time you’ve spent together and what country of origin you have and how busy that embassy is. Stay safe and take care of each other 🤍

When is the wedding?
Its a tricky one as we want both our families from Europe and America to attend, so first we need to figure out where. We sort of want it in Copenhagen, but then the questions regarding travel and so on comes into place. So right now not a set date, but hopefully soon 🌸 have a great weekend!

There is no set time, as the agency understands that people have different timeframes of setting up the move/picking up documents from embassy etc. We always say as soon as possible, as you want to start your life in Sweden and go through all the next steps in your journey :)
Does migration officials contact partner parents in Sweden for verification or something like that!? Does they contacted your partner parents while they processing ur application!?? ..

I received the decision yesterday and how many day's I have for permit card?
That’s amazing! Depends on your country and your embassy. Anything from a couple of days, to 2 weeks. Most people contact their embassy and try to figure out how long. We didn’t receive one as Morgan hadn’t had an interview and left biometrics, so she traveled with the decision and left fingerprints and sign here in Sweden at MV. Is it possible to change my current address while waiting the decision?
Are you applying to go to Sweden, or are you the partner in Sweden? If you are the partner in Sweden you have to send an email to migrationsverket@migrationsverket.we with your new contract, floor plan etc to prove it still lives up to the maintenance requirements. If you are the partner, you just need to send an email and say you’ve moved so you’ll get the decision to the right adress.

As you may decide to move back to Sweden together, it is not always necessary for the Swedish party to be currently living in Sweden when the application is made, as long as the partner can show clear and valid intensions on having the opportunity to move back. This could be a work contract, a purchase/rental agreement etc. If you’ve lived together for +2 years outside of Sweden you may skip the maintenance requirements according to the new law of 2021, however this is only assessed down the process. Hi guys, the information is not correct about the countries that needs a visa . You CAN visit your partner while waiting , what you cant do is to wait for a decision in Sweden (after interview).
Thanks for you comment Kate! We never state that in the video, as what you say is correct. Maybe we could have made that clearer. But what we rather focus on is that you shouldn’t, and why. Which is like everything in this video our opinion and experience, and not legal advice towards anyone who seeks it. What we tried to convey in the video (10:00-10:42),
that you can visit from a visa free country without consequence towards the process, while if you visit from a country that requires visa we wouldn’t recommend it as it gets your residency application paused due to immigration not being able to process two visas at the same time. Further more we quite clearly describe the difference between the investigation and decision time, and how you can be in Sweden during the investigation part, but not during the decision part. As that is crucial when you can and when you should avoid visit to not delay your decision. If you need any more clarification/help I’m happy to answer anything, both here and in private message.
